  • Surprising performance in a great looking, high quality minimalist design
Color: Just Black Set: Intel Core i5 | 8 GB RAM | 128 GB
I love this Just Black i5 8gb 128gb Pixelbook Go. It reminds me of 2006 Black Macbook I really enjoyed for many years. It has a clean simple appearance and is very comfortable to hold and carry. It’s a minimalist design with everything I need and nothing I don’t. All its components are of good to excellent quality and well matched. Its performance is very good for the vast majority of my needs, and when I push it to the edge it starts to slow down, but still does the job with a decent user experience – just enough with nothing wasted. I like that, and it gets me a lot. - The lightest and most compact 13" notebook I've ever owned. - Terrific all day battery life and silent cool operation. - A nice bright color accurate touch screen with good resolution. - Great video conferencing / web meeting capability - Great speakers and sound - A terrific easy to read, backlit keyboard that’s quiet and a pleasure to type on - A very good precision glass trackpad with excellent feel and predictable soft clicks - Two full function (power, video, data) USB-C ports (one on each side) - Enough CPU, memory, and storage for a great user experience for almost everything I use it for - Excellent materials, fit, finish, and design with well-integrated hardware and software - A price I can live with There is no leading edge technology, it doesn't have the highest performance or capacity or the most features, and it's not the cheapest. One or more of these things may rule it out as a good option for you. As a tech junkie I'm surprised it didn't for me. But it has no problem handling a dozen or more Chrome tabs/windows, a few Android apps and a couple Linux apps. Connecting it to a USB-C dock driving two additional FHD displays, Gigabit Ethernet, Webcam, Mic, Headset, Speakers, Keyboard, Mouse, and more starts to tax the CPU. But the only time I notice it slow down is during high speed and volume data or video transmissions – then network file copies will slow down and moving windows around additional screens becomes less smooth, but it's still a decent user experience. And I don't end up pushing it that far very often. For me, the performance and features it does have, combined with a minimalist flavor, and great design and integration, makes it worth the premium price. *UPDATE* - Google by default had hyper threading disabled which only ran a single thread on each of the two cores. By enabling hyper threading via flags, it used 2 threads per core for a total of 4 threads, and the few performance issues I had when I pushed it disappeared. ... show more

  • The best Chromebook. Lightweight, excellent keyboard, excellent speakers and overall design.
Color: Just Black Set: Intel Core i5 | 8 GB RAM | 128 GB
The first thing I noticed about the Go was just how light it was, I had read some reviews and watched some videos but until I un-boxed it I didn't realize how light it actually was. Even though it's light it still feels solid in the hand and in no way feels cheap. I really like the design and feel that Google did a great job on this device. The keyboard feels great and it is very quiet when typing on it, I can barely hear it while I am typing this review. The key travel feels good and it's a great size. The speakers get very loud and I am impressed at how good the sound is. Impressive for a device this small and light. The track pad is one of the better ones I have used, it just feels good and is easy to use and provides a nice click. The screen while not the best, does it's job. It gets plenty bright and is very usable in all conditions. We all wish for a better screen but it works well in this package. I opted for the i5/128 version as I plan on using this for a few years and wanted to ensure I had the better processor and more storage. So far it has performed without issue and the battery life is amazing. I really like that you can charge it via USB-C. All of my devices use USB-C and it's nice to carry one cable and one battery pack on trips. ... show more

  • Really nice machine.
Color: Just Black Set: Intel Core i5 | 8 GB RAM | 128 GB
This was my first Chromebook. I got the Pixel Go because it was rated so high. I have been in tech all my life and used many premium machines including the MacBook Pro and the Microsoft Surface. This is an outstanding machine. I love the simplicity of the ChomeOS. I don't have any complaints per say and overall it works well. Thoughts for improvement. 1) Add biometric access. The PIN helps (vs the PW), but I like the fingerprint reader on the Mac and my pixel phone. 2) If you open a ton of TABs in chrome at the same time (i.e.. run down the notifications in Facebook and cntl+click), the machine craps out and many tabs will fail to open. 3) The screen is really nice but not as nice as my wife's new MacAir (2020). Since they are only $100 apart ... 4) The battery life is good but not unbelievable. I was expecting more. In truth, it is an Intel i5 so I shouldn't be expecting much more than other OS systems (MAC and Windows) would yield. Overall, it is a good machine and I do like ChromeOS. It is simple and intuitive. I made a conscious decision to keep it. (update 3 months later) I really like both this hardware and the ChromeOS. I have always been a MS Office user and found switching to Google Docs to be effortless. Having a ton of experience on both Windows (all version) and MacOS, I find ChromeOS to be a delight to use. I respect Windows and MAC a lot and saying this is not a negative to them. I simply find this machine to be effortless. (update 6 months later) Enthusiasm for this machine has not waned. It is a very good machine. All the items I listed above still stand but on balance, the system is fantastic. I have come to truly appreciate the machine size and weight. It is near perfect in both dimensions. It is a lot like having an iPad with a great keyboard and will sit upright on your lap. I hope Google is engineering the Pixel Go 3 and beyond. No plans to upgrade, I just want to see the line kept alive for when I am! :) ... show more
