  • Build Quality + Battery Life + Lightweight OS = Win
Color: Just Black Set: Intel Core i5 | 16 GB RAM | 128 GB
Great piece of hardware here. The entire outside is a lightweight metal that reminds me of magnesium, but I might be wrong. From pictures, I assumed that the ridged underside would be a glued-on rubber pad. Not the case. That' seems to be the same metal as the rest of the body. There are 2 rubber "strips" at the front and back to provide some grip, but most of the underside is metal (Good for heat dissipation, really neat design there). Thin laptops often have flimsy screens. When you go laptop shopping, test the screen for "flex". I don't like flex in my screens, and this passes with flying colors. The keyboard feels great. The trackpad is very responsive and works well. The click of the trackpad is a little on the loud side for my taste-- I wish it had been haptic feedback similar to the macbook pro. F keys are tricky. You can hold down the "application" button (where the caps lock lives) and use the top row as F1-F10. Need F11-F12? It's nowhere I could find on the support site. I had to start up a support chat to find that using the same application button combo, use the number keys F1-0 (F1-10) and then - = for F11 and 12. This works, but I don't like how hard I had to look to track down the info. I know that you can treat the top row as F keys by default as well, with the flip of a toggle in the settings. Chrome OS is good. I think it will get better. I'd like to see more of the trackpad gestures I learned to love on Macbooks. Three-finger-swipe to see virtual desktops would be a great start. ... show more

Love it

  • My favorite device!
I purchased the I5/16GB/128GB model in Not Pink around six months ago. I love it. I have all sorts of tech devices from laptops to tablets to phones and this is by far my favorite device. I LOVE how lightweight and portable it is. The screen is gorgeous. I haven't had any problems with streaming, and surfing is super-fast. The sound is beautiful (IMO not loud enough, but it sounds great and if I'm watching an online concert, it gets nice and loud with headphones). I love the soft texture and tap-feel and tap-sound of the keys. It feels solid and really nice on the hands. I really like the sticky, ridged bottom. It also charges really fast and I am so surprised how long the charge lasts, even with the screen brightness maxed out. I debated and probably could've gotten away with the base-model, even the base was more than I wanted to spend to play with a Chromebook, but so far so good, even if I did overspend. I invested the extra because there's like seven years of update support, so I got the mid-range version just in case the base would be too slow in a few years. Who knows. I can't wait to see if the battery lasts at a great level as the device ages and if it remains speedy. I owned a couple different MS Surface devices that I thought were cool, and considered the Pixel Slate which I probably would've chosen if available, but I'm so glad I went for this. I do like the clam-shell form factor and it's only slightly larger and feels the same weight as the Surfaces I've owned. If you're on the edge, I'd say to give it a shot. The longer I've had it the more I love it. ... show more

  • Google has done it again! Google has done it again!
Color: Just Black Set: Intel Core i5 | 16 GB RAM | 128 GB
So I got this pixelbook simply because I am a massive Google fan! I got a pixel phone a while back and it had it's issues but I loved it way better than Samsung. I upgraded to a new pixel phone and all my previous complaints about the phone were fixed. So anyways I'm a software engineer and ai decided I wanted to get a computer so I can work on the go aka my bedroom haha. So I had no clue what a Chromebook was or pixelbook I just thought the pixelbook was a regular computer. The cost of google is affordable for what you get it's a no brainer. It's so lightweight and feels amazing to the touch photos honestly so this no justice. It's simple but gets he job done. I had a learning curve coming form windows, with short cuts. Putting a new tab up right clicking etc but once you get the hang of it, it's a breezy. It's my lil bundle of joy! The keyboard is so crisp too and the way it lights up at night just sends my hands in shock 😂 This computer is pretty much not compatible with everything! ... show more

  • Google ChromeGo Problems
Color: Just Black Set: Intel Core i5 | 16 GB RAM | 128 GB
First, it seems to give a product you have problems with so many stars but the Google notebook is not a bad product. It is just not great for me. Most importantly, I am retired and own a lightweight, portable notebook style computer because they are easy to travel with and give me something to do during evenings at my various lodgings. I own a Microsoft Surface Pro and am on my second one. It has been giving me problems so I decided to try the Google notebook version. The Google notebook is nicely designed and I enjoyed it at first. For one thing, the keyboard is attached, although it cannot fold completely to the back of the unit like my Surface Pro can, making it easier to use so the keyboard is working very well. It is in the way, but it works well. However, a failing, detachable keyboard for my Surface Pro is the main reason I decided to try another computer company. My main disappointment with the Google Go is with game playing. I am a big Big Fish game user and own hundreds of their games. Chrome Go will not let me play them. When I tried to enter my Big Fish account, all was well until I tried to play a game and then everything went to, let's say, pieces. My Chrome Go happily informed me that I could not play Big Fish games on it because the operating system did not support anything with an .exe extension. Bummer! I suspect the problem may have more to do with a lack of ability for Microsoft and Google to cooperate with one another, but, in any case, the whole reason for me buying the Chrome Go just flew out the window. Now that I am retired, I basically use my computer for playing games, email and keeping up with the news. So, if you want to play any games from stores like Big Fish or Steam, don't buy this Google notebook. If you want to play Google's lame games from the own Play Store, knock yourself out. ... show more

  • My Son Loves Chromebook
Color: Just Black Set: Intel Core i5 | 16 GB RAM | 128 GB
I bought this Chromebook, for my son to start high school and hybrid learning this fall. He used a Macbook Air in Middle School, but Macs sometimes just doesn't play well with Windows and Google programs, not to mention Zoom. I of course spent more on this Chromebook than I had to, but look at it as an investment for school. I just can't believe how light and fast it is. To think I almost bought i7 version, for the faster speed, not at all necessary, this this blazes. It is so light its scary, afraid its too light and thin, and my son says battery lasts all day. I was even thinking of getting one for myself, but I'm an old junkie used to Windows machines and Microsoft Office, even though my son keeps telling me how easy Google OS is. My only regret is that I should have bought two, one for my younger son, because now they are on back order and no longer on the easy payment plan. ... show more

  • A nice upgrade if you can afford it
Color: Just Black Set: Intel Core i5 | 16 GB RAM | 128 GB
This was such a huge upgrade from my old and more basic Chromebook. I bought this one because the cheaper ones were sold out everywhere and my old one was reaching its end of life. Although it lines me to spend the money, I have to say, so far this has been a great device for distance learning. And everyday household use. Feels very solid, image quality is good, no issues so far more than one month in. ... show more
