We purchased two of these (expensive) items last year to use on our covered lanai to store goods (not hoses). Since they are intended to store hoses outdoors, we thought they would be weather-resistant. However, within mere weeks one of the items began to rust, including in one location where it appears the finish is flaking off. These are capacious, good-looking products, but do not appear to be weather-resistant. I will be contacting Amazon/the manufacturer as appropriate, but in the meantime I suggest you look for another product for outdoor use.

I love this pot. I have a 100-foot, 1-in diameter hose, and I was worried it would be difficult to coil it into the pot, and concerned that the pot might not be big enough. I was amazed at how effortlessly the hose curls into the pot and fits with plenty of room to spare. It's also much easier to uncoil the hose than it was on the hanging holder I used previously. The hose does not get kinked or tangled with this. I treated the inside and outside of the pot and cover with clear rustoleum before using, and will continue to do so in the Spring to keep it from rusting. I am extremely happy with this purchase.

UPDATE: I wrote to the company that Amazon uses as the supplier for this. They responded quickly and sent a replacement, although it's a different design, because the one I originally purchased was out of stock. This is what makes a great company, even if they had a supplier that didn't make an exactly great product. At the end of the day, the integrity of the company matters most. Originally a 1 star rating, but I'm giving it a 4 star rating now because of the company. I purchased this product for our home outside Taos, New Mexico in April. it's very attractive and that's about the only good thing I can currently say about it. As I write this, It's now the beginning of September. The altitude at the house is 7000 feet and we're in a very dry area. The area is dry, but we've also had a very dry summer. Yet, and you can see it by the picture, this hose bucket has a lot of rust around the handle. I have to call this a rust bucket. Thus far, the importer of this rust bucket has not replied to several of my requests for a replacement; either negatively or positively. What a crock. I'd just stay away from anything that Good Directions wants to sell, whether through Amazon or anyone else. It appears to be a pretty bad company for customer service.

We wanted something other than a tired looking wall hose hanging mount, so after looking around, we settled on this guy. Construction is pretty solid. It's made out of steel with an oxidized copper wash finish. It does feature a hole for passing the hose into the pot. The lid fits fairly well, but either the pot or the lid is slightly out of round. This actually works in our favor though, since I can twist the lid slightly to 'friction lock' it in place. This is good for preventing the lid from blowing off on those windy days. As for capacity, it holds a 100-foot hose with a little room to spare. I can even keep our spare hose nozzles in it. Overall, we're very happy with it. It looks good. Has some heft to it. And keeps the patio looking neat. Recommended.

One reviewer here wrote that this pot was the largest he'd ever come across. I agree. It easily fits my 75' hose. It has a lid, and the overall effect is attractive. No messy hose for anyone to look at, including and especially my spouse. Now, it may be rated for longer, and in fact, if my hose were neatly coiled, I might get a 150' hose in there. However, I do not wind my hose up neatly (what a pain that would be) but let it lie however it wants to lie, in what is surely an inefficient use of space. But I'm delighted. This wasn't easy to find, but it does exactly what I need it to do.

For years I've looked for something attractive for my hose and hose attachments. I've gone through so many. I was looking for a winding one and as I was looking for one I ran across hose POTS! Whoa! I ordered this one and I love it! I got rid of my old hose too and bought one of those expanding hoses that shrink down when you drain them. THIS IS A GAME CHANGER! I did set mine on a block because some people reported rusting. If that's the case, you may want to set yours on something to keep it off the ground. I was able to fit a 50' shrinking hose, two sprinklers and two hose covers in the pot... and still had room for more! You won't go wrong with this!

Love this pot. We have a simple oriental garden. It looked whenever I left the hose out. I shopped around for hose reels but Nothing looked right. Everything was too big or clunky or industrial. I saw this on Amazon and it looked like it would be perfect. More than I wanted to spend but it was worth it. I've had people pass and ask what it was and where I got. It. The color blends in well.
