  • No Surgery, No Pain
This is my second purchase of this keyboard. My first was purchased 14 years ago and I fell in love with the concept and comfort. The placement of the keys and size of the keyboard are ideal for those who are conscious about their ergonomics. I went to the doctor 14 years ago with pains in my left wrist and was told it was the onset of carpal tunnel. The only answer was surgery or get a new job. I was in my 20's and just got out of college with a degree in computer science. No way I'm switching already. I've spent too much and I was determined to find a solution without surgery. After sleeping with wrist braces for 3 months and doing research on ergonomic keyboards, I found the Goldtouch brand. Pricey, but seemed to meet my needs exactly and was well thought out. It takes some time to get used to, but my wrist pain is completely gone and I've not needed surgery. I can't recommend this keyboard enough. The extra delete and backspace keys on the left side is ingenious and it's frustrating not having them on other keyboards. It's such a "duh" feature. It takes some time getting accustomed to the missing 10-key, but that goes away in only a few weeks of usage. Now my touch typing is faster and my posture is better. Coupled with the Anker Vertical Mouse (https://smile.amazon.com/Anker-Wireless-Vertical-Ergonomic-Optical/dp/B00BIFNTMC/) it's a great piece on my desk at work. ... show more

  • Love this keyboard, difficult to set it up as truly ergonomic because of work space
This is my second Goldtouch keyboard. I had the other for a couple of years, a few years back. I like the softer feel of these keys, they don't require much pressure and are not as noisy as the last one. Though I did like the clacky-clack of those as well, I always felt so empowered, ha. Anyway, I broke the last one by putting too much pressure on the handle that controls the cable, didn't realize it was half-engaged and locked. My fault. It snapped off making the keyboard no longer able to hold a position without sliding around. The keyboard still worked. I moved on to other keyboards since this one isn't cheap and my company wasn't paying for it. Used Microsoft's ergonomic wireless keyboard and mouse for a while. I like its low profile but it runs through batteries at a ridiculous rate and the letters wore off the keys from skin oil, and skin oil made the wrist rest unsightly. I kept looking at the Goldtouch because I love being able to set the angle and tilt. Finally took the plunge for Cyber Monday. Here's the two challenges to having a truly ergonomic keyboard set-up: 1. The keyboard wobbles when put into a pyramidal shape, there's not a good stable platform for it to rest on. Why don't they include fold-out feet that will anchor it? 2. Also, and this is NOT just the Goldtouch, all keyboards on all regular height desks have this problem... The keyboard is set too high even on my keyboard tray to tilt my wrists down. I'm a short woman. I need the chair low-ish to the ground. I even have lifts to rest my feet on so I get 90-degree angles for my knees. But my keyboard tray is so high that no matter what keyboard I use, I'm tilting my wrists up to type. If we put in a tray that say basically on top of my knees, I could bend my wrist down, but then I couldn't put the Goldtouch in a pyramidal shape to allow me to rotate my arms into a more natural curve (and stop killing my shoulders). This is a cool looking keyboard. I love being able to slide it apart to get a good angle that forces me to position my hands correctly and not do lazy cross-overs in typing. I got used to the key placement quickly - I still occasionally fumble reaching for the delete, ctrl, shift, etc, but I do that on every keyboard no matter how keys are placed. I'll continue using the Goldtouch and leave my Microsoft Ergonomic gathering dust as a backup. Just wish that this and all keyboards were easier to set up so we can angle our wrists downward. ... show more

  • Absolutely the best keyboard for the money in 2020
I've been using ergonomic keyboards for ten years now. Used the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic (terrible build quality, killed two within a few years), the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 (cheap at $20 used but wobbly keys and has a number pad), and also a non-ergonomic Das Keyboard with mechanical keyswitches just to see the benefit of that approach. The Goldtouch reigns supreme above them all with excellent build quality, great keyswitch feel (seriously, mechanical keyswitches are absolutely not necessary to have a nice typing experience), endless adjustability, and all at a great price - $50 less than its main competitor the Kinesys Freestyle2 which looks & feels cheap by comparison with its sold-separately tenting kit. I would recommend this keyboard to absolutely anyone who is at all concerned with their ergonomic setup. The only complaints I have are the odd decision to sell Mac compatibility as a specific keyboard feature (seems odd in 2020 where cross-platform support is expected by default, especially for something as basic as a keyboard), and that the width & chunkiness of the keyboard means the greater the angle you tent it, the higher your hands have to go. The main drawback of this last point is that your mouse is then quite low by comparison, so there's really only a very limited range where your mouse & keyboard can both be used with straight wrists. I solved this by raising my mousepad with a book underneath. All in all a tremendous keyboard that I will be using far into the future. ... show more
