I bought this keyboard because i Couldn’t find the previous one I had purchased, and I think I actually made the right choice—this one is even better. The folding mechanism feels sturdier, the keys have a smoother, more responsive touch, and it automatically powers on when you open it and turns off when folded, which is incredibly convenient. The keypad is softer and more comfortable to type on compared to the other I’ve used, it’s also flatter, lighter, and much easier to travel with, making it a perfect portable option. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this upgrade.

I’ve been using this portable keyboard for a while now, and it has quickly become one of my favorite accessories. The design is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry in a backpack or even a small bag without adding bulk. Setup was simple and quick, just turn it on, connect via Bluetooth (or cable, if applicable), and it’s ready to go. The keys are surprisingly comfortable for such a slim device. They provide good tactile feedback, and typing feels natural, even during longer sessions. I also appreciate the battery life; it lasts for days (or weeks) on a single charge, which makes it reliable for travel or daily use without worrying about constant charging. I only briefly tested this keyboard, but I have some good and bad thoughts. First off, it ONLY connects through Bluetooth, not through USB. This means you can't enter BIOS using the delete/F2 keys and the keyboard will not work in BIOS (bluetooth is not active in BIOS). This is a problem for me. Second off, the keyboard actually types and feels pretty good. It's not as stable as people state it is, but still performs well. That said, if you're gaming on it, it WILL drop commands if you're moving too fast. Also, it appears to cap its active key signals at around 2 or 3. So if you play a game where you can move, open a map, navigate the map, and enter other commands at the same time, it will be incapable of doing what your normal keyboard can. I sound like I'm talking it down, but this keyboard is actually very nice for what it is. Just be aware of its limitations.

Prior to this keyboard, I was using the Microsoft Designer Compact Keyboard, which is super lightweight, and has worked very well for me. However, there were a few issues that made me go looking for a different keyboard. First, I missed having a 10-key numeric keypad. Second, Microsoft keyboard is not rechargeable, but uses watch batteries, which is an expensive hassle when they die. And, finally, the MS keyboard doesn't fold, which means takes up more space in my backpack. So I took a chance on this ProtoArc keyboard. When I first received it, there were two minor problems. One of the hinges on the left side was kind of stuck, and had be forced to pop open. No plastic bits fell of, as described in some other reviews, and the hinge has worked perfectly since that first opening. The second issue was that it took me five or six tries to get the keyboard to pair with my Windows 11 laptop. Eventually, I got it to pair, and it has worked perfectly since then. I've been using it for about a week now, and I love it. I'm still getting used to the placement of the Home, End, and PgUp/PgDn keys, but I expect that shouldn't take long. Despite adding the numeric keypad, this keyboard only weighs 1 oz more than the MS keyboard. It not only takes up less space but, because it folds up, the keys are not exposed to the other contents of my bag when traveling. One other feature of the ProtoArc keyboard that I like is the FN Lock button. By default on both keyboards, the function keys are multimedia keys (play, pause, volume, etc.) and you have to hold down the FN key to use them as F1, F2, etc. As far as I know, this can't be changed on the MS keyboard. However, on the ProtoArc keyboard, simply pressing FN+ESC (called FN lock in the manual) reverses this and makes F1, F2, etc. the defaults, and you simply press the FN key to use them as multimedia controls. Fingers crossed that it holds up to constant travel and lots of opening and closing! UPDATE: I've been dragging this keyboard around the world in my backpack and using it constantly for more than two years. Still absolutely love it. Except, it finally died -- or I should say, started misbehaving; some keys not working, others firing constantly even when not touching the keyboard, etc. -- about two months after the end of the two-year warranty period. Grumble, grumble. And it happened while I was out of the country. Fortunately, I was able to find a new one locally and, amazingly, the build quality seems much better than the one I bought in 2022. Still very happy. Still highly recommended.
