  • Worked really well, unilt...
Color: Green Lens Color: 1 Pack
I have been carrying this in my Search and Rescue bag for a while now and haven't had to use it. This last weekend, we had to stay overnight and I had my first opportunity. Like the title says, it worked really well, until... it got down to below 40 degrees. I had just long pants and long shirt on and was using this with a Klymit Static V pad. It kept me warm and I was sleeping really well. However, the location where we were at, the temps decided to really drop around 0300-0400. It was just above freezing at 34 degrees. I didn't freeze or feel uncomfortable, but I could feel the cold on my arms. The description says that it works down to about 14 degrees F and I can probably guess that that is the lowest point where you will be really uncomfortable, but still reasonably safe. I know for a fact that at 34 degrees F, I could feel the cold. If it had gotten any colder, I would have had to make some changes. There were others in my same situation that had this exact Bivy and experienced the same thing. Durability-wise, it held up great. Others were making comments that they were probably just going to throw it away afterwards; however, we all ended up just rolling it back up and stuffing it back in the bag. You can never fold it the same as it was, but it still worked out. None of the mylar nor the outside coloring broke up or fell off and I didn't experience any tears or rips. I would highly recommend this bivy for situations above 40 degrees F and even below if you had some added layers. ... show more

  • Definitely kept me warm.
Color: Orange Lens Color: 1 Pack
I took this with me on a weekend trip to the mountains. It got to 28*f at night and this thing kept me warm and very toasty through the night. I slept very comfortable. My only issue was that the next morning I had a few small tears in the bag from me rolling around during the night. It's not something that will hold up for multiple uses. But was great in an emergency. ... show more

  • Would work in a pinch
Color: Green Lens Color: 1 Pack
I could see using this in a pinch. But it’s a one use in emergency type application. Good customer service.

  • Could be a lifesaver!
Color: Orange Lens Color: 1 Pack
This emergency bivy could definitely be a life saver. It is lightweight and compact and won't take up much room in a pack. I plan to keep it in my hunting pack at all times. Like my emergency medical supplies, and bear spray, its something I hope I'll never have to use, but if I need it, I will be very glad to have it. If I ever get lost or injured, the orange color could help search and rescue personnel find me faster too. I took the bivy out of its stuff sack to check it out and when I got inside it, I immediately could feel my body heat being reflected back. I'm 6 foot tall and I was able to lay down and pull it up over my head if I curled up a little and bent my knees. When I lay straight, it easily came up over my shoulders. The bag isn't super roomy, but it does the job. I was able to fold it back up and get it back into the stuff sack, but it took a little time because the material is slippery and it was hard to keep air from getting trapped in the folds. That was probably just poor technique on my part. The material seems fairly tough, but because it is thin I'd imagine that sharp rocks or sticks might poke a hole or rip it, so I wouldn't expect it to stand up to frequent use. But that's not what I bought it for anyway. I'm keeping it for emergency use only and because its only weighs about 4 ounces, I won't mind carrying it with me. The price is reasonable too and won't break the bank if I need to replace it if it got damaged. If you are a hunter, backpacker, or hiker, I would recommend you consider getting this bivy. Put one in your pack and keep it there, because its cheap insurance against hypothermia and might just save your life. ... show more

  • Very nice to have!
Color: Green Lens Color: 1 Pack
This has definitely kept me warm when I wasn't expecting a cold snap while out camping. I now keep it in my everyday bag just incase I get stranded somewhere during the winter. The addition of a emergency whistle is really nice as well incase something was to happen! I would recommend having one to keep with you or in your car just in case! ... show more

  • Great Product!
Color: Green Lens Color: 1 Pack
I have received my order on time and in perfect condition. The reason why I chose Life Bivy, is because I was looking to make an emergency kit. After reading reviews, looking at photos and youtube videos, the Life Bivy was definitely for me. It is very versatile, packs down very small, light weight (not dense), reflects 90% percent of your body heat (great for me, because I am always cold) and has great quality and price. Not to mention water & wind proof, can build a shelter, has an emergency whistle and in case if I need something to start a fire with, I have the paracord drawstring. I can even use the bag to carry other items or as an emergency reflector (Great graphics: Clear, Precise and Useful). Plus, I have the choice to pick which color I prefer. Other bivy's on the market are not versatile at all. They don't reflect 90% percent of body heat and if they do your paying 40-50 dollars, if not more for no heat and no quality. Your product is great for everyone. From emergency (preparedness), outdoors activities (definitely for your ultra light backpackers) and just to give as a gift. Thank you for your terrific product. ... show more

  • It's meant for EMERGENCIES not regular use.
Color: Green Lens Color: 1 Pack
I think most people reviewing this are missing the point. This is not meant to be an item that you reuse multiple times. This is meant to be in a life-or-death emergency situation, it will keep you warm until you can find help, type of thing. And for its intended purpose, it's perfect. Its lightweight, easy to pack in the car, and easy to use to warm yourself up in an emergency situation. Yes, the string comes out of the whistle part easily so that you can use both the string and the whistle in an emergency. It is very simple to just string the whistle through the paracord and slide on the cord lock to hold it in place. I really worry about everyone out there in an actual emergency situation if you can't come up with a simple solution like that. I wish those people luck. (They're going to need it.) ... show more
