  • A fantastic cat tree at a great value
Color: Beige
Buying a new piece of furniture is a substantial decision, so I searched long and hard and read lots of reviews. For my price range (ideally no more than $150), this is a huge, elaborate cat tree, by far beating out anything available in pet stores or their online shops. At one time or another I had plenty of concerns, based on the reviews. I can tell you right now that all my concerns were alleviated the moment it came out of the box. This goes without saying, but this is a very tall cat tree, so make sure you have room for it. The box is heavy (70lbs), so be careful lifting it. While individual parts aren't labeled, the instructions are as clear as they need to be, and one need only lay all the posts, bolts, screws, and platforms out side by side to see what needs to go where. Construction took my father and me no more than an hour, even as we paused when the oldest of my three cats (4 years old) jumped up to explore while we were still putting it together. (My two rambunctious kittens, 8 months old, were shut in my bedroom during construction. Otherwise it would have taken twice as long!) Construction is very easy and simple, with the only minor issue being the way the ramps connect to the underside of the platforms. It's not even a real problem per se, but you might need to put the screws in at an odd angle because the brackets won't entirely align with the pre-cut holes. I'd be surprised if your cats don't love it, because I know mine do. As I said, my 4-year old cat was all over it before we even finished construction. And once the kittens were allowed to explore... Well, suffice to say that even on the very first day it was put together, my dears spent more time on and around it than not! It does not detract from the strong reasons you have to buy this for your home, but I will note that the strings by which the mice are attached to the platforms will not last more than a couple hours at most. That's not a big deal though: That's just the natural order of things when cats play. And you can easily purchase mice and better strings to replace them. Long story short: I would consider this an essential purchase. This is more elaborate and nicer-looking than other cat trees that cost twice as much, and the materials from which it is made are as solid as any competition. Construction is easy, and your cats will love it. Don't be discouraged by the caveats you see in reviews. Once you see this in action, you'll be glad you made this choice for you and your family :-) ... show more

  • Really great buy - my cats adore it!
Color: Beige
GREAT purchase! No, it's not carpeted - it's plush - but it's clear about that. My cats took to it almost immediately and they're on it almost constantly. I've had this about a year now and it still looks great. I couldn't believe the price, compared to the overpriced ones I saw at my local pet stores! Holy cow!!! This tree is big - but really decently made. It's sturdy and stands up to my 15 pound, muscular orange tomcat throwing himself onto it and putting his whole weight into scratching on the posts. The only thing I DO wish they did differently was to have replacement posts - My guy has put some serious wear and tear on the rope. I may try to shift the rope legs around at some point to get less scratched ones to a the more prominent locations ;-). And as for the toys? I haven't had any problem so far with them getting chewed off. That said, my cats are 8 and 9 years old, so they're not all about killing the toys ;-). That said, this morning, when my little black cat got up onto her perch, she started batting at one of the toys - LOL. Go figure! Oh - and as far as putting it together, although I asked the UPS guy to actually bring it into the house and put it right where I needed to assemble it, I managed to assemble it 100% by myself with next to no tools, only a few weeks after major back surgery. So if you're not terribly handy - don't worry - you can do it :-). If the time ever comes that this looks ratty enough to get rid of it, I'm going to buy another one for these guys - the price is definitely right and God knows, my cats ADORE it! ;-D. 8/20/20 - Update almost 5 years after buying it :-). I STILL love this cat tree. I've still got my big orange guy, who still loves it, but now, I also have 2 4-month old male kittens who race around the house at top speed and THROW themselves at this cat tree, racing up from bottom to top, and back down again, over and over and over :-D. They couldn't possibly love it more. It's held up pretty well, considering it's been WELL loved by multiple cats on a daily basis. It's their sleepy place, hiding place, playing place, resting place, stalking place and all around kitty happy place. Because 4 years of kitten love has made it look a little ratty, I'm likely going to replace it - with the very same cat tree - why mess with perfection?! :-D UPDATE AGAIN 4/8/22 - Just had a new one delivered - it's been 7 years since I bought the first one and I think that's a reasonable length of time for a cat tree that's had this many cats loving it for this long. The new one is exactly the same - easy to assemble and just as sturdy. Now the kittens are 2 years old and yes, I still have the orange tom, who still uses it for his daily sunbath and scratching post. Highly recommended if you can't afford those cat trees that cost $500! (like me) ... show more

Color: Beige
added photo.. took off tall towers...easy tp do.. you just use that top screw to secure on platform.. i did that because my basement apt girl hurt her leg so i decided that they all are 12 n husky.. over 15lb.. so its plenty high without them.. in fact for her and her sis i took the house off and made a little side piece by stapling a cardboard bumper.. it makes a really big roomy surface ... just put a big fluffy towel on it!.. its really very adjustable!! Update.. its been almost 4 years.. still love it.. bought it again for our two new 11 yr old additions.. i like its width and shape especially for our older cats .. as before i left off left two towers and saved as backups it looks better against window if they arent sticking up above curtain and the one on right they tend to go to box to get down.. the left one they were jumping down to pillow i have on floor. . So i kept that as backup.. although i had thought of screwing together with liquid nails.. since the other has survived my fatties for four years ( never even had to tighten) i didnt.. but its an option.. but people please dont let your dogs and kids on it or leaning all over it and then say its not sturdy!!.. If it had lasted a year at 99 it would have been worth it!.. this one was 70.. pure cat joy!! ------------------------------.. .all pieces came and were intact,,,assembly was easy But i did have trouble with 1st assembly piece,, when i screwed legs in they never got tight and i thought Oh No, this is what i was afraid of, almost sent it back, but I and the 3 kitties were so excited that i got pliers and was able to grab hold of the nuts that had come loose, and tighten the legs ( this did rip through the little carpet there & leave them exposed but i thought i will just hot glue some fabric over to smooth out....and in the end i just put a polar fleece blanket in there on top of them which is working fine)...the rest went pretty quick, and though i thought it was gonna be really flimsy, each piece made it sturdier...in the end i opted not to put the last 2 towers on because i put it in front of the slider & it was just too tall for that. It actually looks quite nice with just the right tower, and its plenty of height! I did put on ramps though no one really uses them, but unlike the tower we bought 15 yrs ago ( which was $120 and not as elaborate), this one, because it has platforms on left and right is much safer, whereas the old one we had to take it away because the only way down was to jump or kinda fall off because it was straight up like a totem pole....so though it was a little scary during assembly, the directions were super easy and I am very happy with it!! Great for the price!!! So if you buy it, even if you have a few hiccups like i did, work through them because its well worth it! It will move a little ( which they ALL do anyway, it is a tower after all!), but i dont think it would Ever tip...i have 2- 7 yr old chunkers (16 & 19 lb), and a 1.5 yr old little feral terror lol...the 19 pounder was the first to stuff his chunky but into that top tower, no problem!..they all have run at it full tilt, no prob...the 1 mouse only lasted 20 minutes but it was a well spent 20 minutes of cat joy, and its easy to attach toys to these things anyway, and though its very sturdy, i might use some liquid nails or something to reinforce so i wont have to re-tighten, if we ever move its movable the way it is, or if the price is like this, cheap enough to replace. Excellent for the price and GOOD exercise!! Hope this helps btw, when u use the 2 sided screws and u go too far in and it feels loose, dont panic, just unscrew it a little till its back on threads, better yet put it in only until the treads disappear and dont keep goin....and the colour is light beige but a yellow based beige compared to my carpet but it looks quite nice :) ...and ALL MY kitties are front declawed NO Problem at all!! BEEN 2 years now!!!! HAVENT TIGHTENED IT OR ANYTHING, PLENTY STURDY...BEAUTIFUL PIECE THAT EVERYONE COMMENTS ON AND ALL 3 CATS ARE ON IT EVERY DAY, IF IT FELL APART TOMORROW, I'D IMMEDIATELY BUY ANOTHER!!! THEY LOVE TO RUN UP TO THE TOP OF THE "TOWER OF POWER" AS WE CALL IT EVERYTIME WE ARE NEAR IT...MOST EXERCISE THEY'VE EVER HAD!!...IN FRONT OF SLIDER SO THEY CAN ALL WATCH BIRDS AT FEEDER...DIDNT USE RAMPS AT FIRST BUT LEFT THEM TO MAKE IT MORE STURDY...NOW THEY USE THEM COMING DOWN...WILL UPDATE AGAIN....AND AS FAR AS PEOPLE SAYING CHEAPLY MADE...THEY ALL ARE...BUT THIS HAS BEEN PLENTY STURDY FOR MY DECLAWED CHUNKERS!!! ... show more

  • Happy Kitties Happy Kitties
Color: Beige
This was purchased to replace an 8 year old Armarkat kitty condo that had simply been scratched to death. I went with this one due to the price and reviews here. Overall, I like it. It’s a good size with lots of scratching post area and plenty of play and rest places for the cats. I wish the top perches were a little bigger, but they are the same size as the other one, so I knew it would be ok. This is for 2 F3 Savannahs (neither overly huge), and I’m really hoping it can stand up to them. I found this tree to be fairly easy to assemble, though I’d recommend 2 people for at least a few parts of the assembly. I did it myself in about 30 minutes without any trouble, but 2 people would have made it go just a bit smoother. It feels pretty solid so far, and I’m happy with it. Keep in mind, I’m writing this 3 days after receiving it. Time will tell. There was a bit of a chemical odor when the box was first opened, but it quickly cleared out. Just as a comparison, the Amarkat tree, while more expensive, was far better constructed. The posts were thicker. The boxes and platforms were plywood instead of pressboard, and the hardware was beefier and stronger. That said, the hardware for this piece was MORE than enough to support the weight of a cat, and I have no concerns about it at all. The posts are the biggest questionable thing, as they just aren’t as big or strong feeling as the ones on the Amarkat. Overall, unless something fails, or this breaks in less than 4 years, I’ll be happy with it. Great size, plenty of places, and the cats immediately took to it. Pros: Price Size Easy to Assemble Looks good Cons: Materials not as solid as others (though price reflects this) ... show more

  • Bang for you Buck
Color: Beige
I have half-heartedly looked for cat condos in the past but they have always been far too expensive to even consider. This condo caught my eye and after much debate I ordered it. Glad I did! It is absolutely enormous compared to other cat condos out there and the price is incredible. Even online they sell little two level maybe 4 foot tall condos for $130 and up. I was a little concerned about the quality due to some of the reviews but when I got it I was pleasantly surprised. It is made out of MDF (medium density fiberboard) and a bit tougher than the particle board I was expecting. It came packed like a puzzle in a huge box and thankfully there was no damage. I could see how if the box took a bad fall the condo could easily be damaged because there was no padding of any sort just a plastic bag all the parts were inside of. The carpeting on it was much softer than expected and the color is neutral enough that it is fairly unobtrusive in my home. So far so good, over all I'm pleased with it. It took me less than a half hour to assemble and was really simple. I was back and forth to the kitchen checking on dinner while assembling it. You know it's not rocket science if it could be done without undivided attention. It is slightly wobbly if left free standing. I have it against a wall and it's just fine. I have over time had to tighten the posts for the upper perches mostly because I didn't want to crank them down too tight at first and possibly damage them. Some reviews complained about the ramps not going on nicely. I didn't have an issue with them. The bracket used to attach the ramp has a circular hole at one end and an oval hole at the other to put the screws through. If you attach the side with the circular hole to the ramp itself the other end allows some adjustment in the mounting position on the condo. Again no problems here but I figure you can always bend the bracket with pliers if they make the ramps stick out funny. The hanging mice are a joke, cute but still a joke. The first one didn't even last five minutes before my youngest (2yr) chewed it right off. That was his mission he just sat there and gnawed it off. The second I think made it to 5 days but then the play got dull, I guess, and the mouse had to go. The top perches are more stable than I expected. My youngest is a porky 13lbs and he jumps up there and flops around in play and they don't hardly sway. I was amazed. My other two cats are about 6lbs each and much older (15 and 16yrs). They are not nearly as energetic but they love the height of it. One of them climbs to the top, talks up a storm and has a blast touching the ceiling and looking over curtains. Over all I am very pleased with this purchase. It is giving my youngest someplace to play and not bother the senior citizens who are still unsure why I took in another cat. It doesn't take up as much floor space as I expected and in a small apartment that is a plus. We'll see how it holds up overtime but so far it is a great addition to my home. ... show more

  • Just Broke after 2+ Years but Still Going Somewhat Strong
Color: Beige
I was hesitant to purchase this at first when I read that the materials were not of the highest quality. However, I decided to go for it and I'm glad I did. All of the pieces came intact and they appear to be of very good quality. Unlike other units I've seen, this one is not covered with carpet, but rather a plush material which makes it very soft. It was easy to assemble (only took about 40 minutes to put together) and my cats started playing with it before I was even finished putting it together. I have three cats: one 13 pound male and two eight pound cats (one male, one female). My female cat tore off both mice within the first 48 hours. The unit wobbles just slightly when my 13 pound cat gets really frisky on it, but I am confident that it is sturdy. (I'm no engineer, but I've been told that even tall skyscrapers are designed to sway with the wind, so maybe this is somewhat intentional with this unit as well). The only thing I don't care for is the two staircases. They are really unnecessary, as the cats just jump over them. In fact, the upper staircase takes away a lot of surface area on the roof of the lower "house." I removed it but then the unit swayed too much, so I do think the upper staircase does help to stabilize it just a bit. The other thing I'll say about the staircases is that some people said that they don't lay flat on the ground. I will say that this happened to me at first, but then I simply reversed the metal brackets and the problem was solved. (Attach the smaller hole in the bracket to the actual staircase, and attach the larger hole in the bracket to the unit. This helped my staircases to rest flat against the lower surface and floor.) Update: November 2015. I have had this unit for over two years and the top perch broke off yesterday. My back was turned so I don't really know what happened, but it scared my cats. The perch itself broke where it screws into the base and so we can no longer use that post. My cats were seriously rough-housing at the time and so I think that after two years of hard treatment the thing just gave out. The rest of the unit is still completely intact as it was the day I bought it, with the exception of two of the posts having nearly all the rope scratched off by my female cat. Despite the wear and tear, it still has a lot of life left in it. Update: October 2016. Well, the entire unit finally broke, and it was my fault, not the cats'. I tried to move the whole unit and the bottom half broke off. We saved the top perches and turned them upside down, so our cats can still scratch on them. We also saved the bottom "apartment" and attached one of the top perches directly to it. We also saved all the remaining scratching posts as replacements for the perches once our cats have completely demolished them. I still say this was an excellent buy; it lasted three years under speed demon wear and tear, and some of the parts are still good enough to salvage. ... show more

  • A bit wobbly, but sturdy enough for 2 heavy cats
Nutshell: This structure is somewhat wobbly, but it doesn't lean or tip over, I have three pretty big cats, two of them use it every day, for hours at a time. The third one doesn't use it much, but I have seen him chase the other cats up it occasionally. I'm not sure if it's the wobbliness he doesn't like, or if he just doesn't care for it, but he prefers to sleep on the sofa or bed, whereas the other 2 cats like to be perched. It doesn't seem unsafe or anything, and I'm confident that they can play on it without hurting themselves. Although I might suggest getting a smaller structure to put next to it. Sometimes my cat tries to jump from the second highest perch, and sort of goes 'thump!' on the floor, so I think it would be nice to have a ledge or something for her to jump to, and make it a step down instead of a nose-dive. (if you look at the picture, the left side is straight up, that's where she jumps from, instead of going forward and using the boxes or the steps to get to the floor safely.) She's not always the smartest cat, but she's sweet! More detailed review: I have 3 big cats, one with severe behavioral issues (aggressive towards my live-in boyfriend, and he pees outside of the litter box). We can't afford a behavioral specialist, so I started watching 'My Cat From Hell' on Animal Planet, and one of the things they talk about is a cats need to perch. Long story short, I decided to do some homework and find a good cat-tree for my four-legged kids. The one with the behavioral issues has been quite a bit better and I think the perch has contributed a little to that (we've done other things, too, like more play time.) He definitely loves being up higher and being able to keep an eye on things, he acts like the king of the castle. And the boxes make him feel like he's hiding, I think. He gets an attitude like "You can't see me! I'm hiding in the box!" I spent a few days reading online reviews, and the biggest problem I ran into was finding something durable enough for my cats. The heaviest (let's call him T) is about 19 pounds. My second cat (N) is 17 pounds, and the youngest (J) is about 12-14 pounds. And I worried about finding something to support them all. That being said, this structure IS a bit wobbly, but doesn't appear dangerous in any way. I don't have any fears about it tipping over on top of them. All three of them can sit on it/jump around on it and it does wobble a bit, but it does fine. And I get very paranoid about this stuff, so trust me when I say I've kept an eye on it. I have noticed that no one is courageous enough to go the highest perch. J, the lightest cat, does go up to the second highest perch, but not the very top one. I even tried putting her up there myself, to see if she just needed encouragement, but she always comes back down. T doesn't go any higher than the top box, and to be honest, N doesn't use it much at all. (It's been about 3 weeks, maybe with some more time he'll like it.) Assembly was pretty easy. I admit, the instruction page was crap, it was just a single sheet with a few pictures on it. But if you've ever assembled anything, you can probably figure it out by looking at a full picture of it. The hardest part was putting the ramps/stairs on because you have to lie on the floor and screw them in above you. It could be tricky to maneuver for some people. And my cats don't even use them because they're big enough to jump the distance. My advice would be to leave them off if your cats are full grown. The scratching posts are nice, one of my cats loves them. And they've played with the hanging mice a lot, I was surprised that they lasted so long. It took a week before they finally tore one free. But I think that's to be expected. The only other thing I think should be mentioned is that it sheds quite a bit. Meaning, the blue material comes off. It was worst after assembly, and hasn't been too bad since then, but sometimes there are little clumps of blue on the floor around it. My cats don't eat them, but I worry that some cats might be tempted, so you might need to take that into account. ... show more

  • My kitties are in heaven - great product! My kitties are in heaven - great product!
I received the Cat "kitty gym" Tree and was very pleased. The color is a very vivid blue and the carpeting is very soft. The post with the twine are great for the kitties. I read reviews that stated that the pet tree was cheap, hard to assemble and had a bad odor. I also read that the customer service was awful. Well I can only speak for my experience. The first concern was the quality of the product. When I received the pet tree it came in a box that was well padded and there were no defects. I opened and inspected each piece to see if there was any issue with the quality and did not find anything. The second concern was the difficulty of putting it together. I found that the directions were very easy and the time to put it together was 30 minutes at the most. The third concern was the odor. When I first opened it up, I couldn't smell anything out of the normal. After I set it up, I did smell an odor however, it was really just the smell of any new type of product that has the type of construction materials. As I said, it was very light - not anything that I would be concerned about.. After we assembled the pet tree (we put the kitties in their carrier during assembly), I was please to see that the height was great (not too high and not to low). I have the tree in a standard size room with 10 foot ceilings. With anticipation, we let the cats out of the carrier so they could try it out. It took them very little time to get the nerve to climb all the way to the top and sit on the perches. They then were very happy to explore the kitty houses. The carpets are very soft and not very thick, my husband was concerned about how long the rugs would last however, unless you have a exotic cat (lol), I really don't see any real issues. The quality of the materials to construct the tree are in line with the affordability factor. If you look online for similar products the cost can be really high compared to what you would pay and free shipping is fantastic. The bottom house will be big enough for both cats (one is a tabby and the other a black and white tuxedo) [see pics] - both are kittens at this stage however, I can see that they will still be comfortable with the accommodations even when they grow to adulthood. This is not the first go around with cats - so I know what the size and weight will be... Anyway - I wanted to make sure to add my review as it was all the reviews that both helped and cautioned me to order the product. The positive ones outweighed the negative so I thought I would order it and hope for the best. One final note would be the customer service. As I had no issues with the product, I can really not give a opinion however, I think that with the amount of issues past customers have said they experienced, I can only hope that the customer service issue is a thing of the past as the product is great and the quality is in line for the cost! ... show more
