The best way to drill holes in wood. Much cleaner than hole saw, results in sharp edged holes. Remember to put workpiece on top of a scrap piece of wood so you don't blow out the bottom side of the work piece.

They look good, cut ok. i tried every one of the 8 bits in good old pine. The problem is hole size, for the ones I got. 4 of the 8 bits cut oversize by .012 to .020 thousands. My use is making holes for wood dowels, and the oversize holes are a game killer...a little loose, glue takes over no problem. but oversize by .015 thousands and its all loose and wonky. The cutters measure about right, so I'm suspecting runout from the shank to cutter head is the problem. I saw one noticeably wobbling, re-chucking it did not help. 4 of the bits made acceptable holes, so they can make good parts, just not consistently. I don't expect perfection for less than 20 bucks for 8 drills, but poor quality is worth zero dollars to me. GM Tools, this is not what anyone wants. *** Edit to add: a question that was asked by someone about what is the shank size led me to measure the shanks on all these. Well, that's just another hit and miss, variability mess. So, measuring these (shanks) with a Mitutoyo caliper yielded a surprising range of sizes, but it appears the "target" size might be 5/16" (.3125"). The shank sizes I got, from smallest 1/4" drill to largest 1-3/8" drill, are: .315", .308", .306", .3105", .312", .315", .3145", .3105". This shows variability similar to the hole sizes mine produce, some good, some oversize- just inconsistent. I'm changing my rating now from 2 stars to ONE. This is a mess. not worth the trouble to return them, will use the 4 out of 8 that are "ok" until they die, and move on to a more reputable, accurate brand like Freud or Bora.
