I removed my old cover and installed the new one in about 2 hours. It was pretty simple just follow the instructions closely and pay attention to which way you put the nuts in the rail for the clamps. I found it easier to start the rail clamp nuts before sliding them rails. I had seen some complaints about the holes in the rail not lining up with the canister but if you slightly lift the canister and slide the rail in fully it’s not an issue. Haven’t had much of a chance to see how weather proof it is yet but it does seem to be fairly well sealed. The retractable function is more of an assist than an auto retract so it’s not going to slam open when you pop the latch you do have to push it to get it to move but it’s super easy to operate and has a great profile. ... show more

So, the install takes much longer than expected, and the final product is..... questionable. We purchased in October 2020 and just installed over the holidays. We were expecting a more durable product, a more reliable customer service, and a more seamless installation. Assembly: When assembling, be very careful to not tighten the cheap, crappy, plastic white screws that come with the product (that are used to fasten the siderails to the edge of the truck) as much as you feel you might want to tighten them (to get a more secure attachment of the rails to your truck bed). If you tighten a hair too much, the screws will strip out, and then good luck getting replacement screws. The don't sell them at Home Depot, Lowes, and they aren't covered under the manufacturer's warranty, and we when attempted chatting the online person told us to "call sales" which has a 2 hour wait time on the phone. Incredibly infuriating and frustrating is an understatement. The company must have taken a turn for the worst over recent months, because it seemed they used to provide decent customer service. Suffice to say: This is our first Gator Cover, and our Last Gator Cover. Seals: the side seals are great, and the seal is very good around the front of the bed (near the cab of the truck). It seems very water-tight. The seal at the back of the truck bed is worthless though - rain, water, snow- there's at least 2mm of gap in between the back of our bed cover and the tailgate. Of course if you're parked on an incline, all the water and precipitation that leaks in will seep into the back of your truck. Customer Service: As described above, it seems Gator has taken a turn for the worst. Perhaps they have too many issues with post-Christmas installs and returns, but our experience is downright horrible. The phone call says a 2-hour wait. The online representative (through their website chat function) was disrespectful and the opposite of helpful. ... show more

The tonneau cover looks great. The installation instructions could have been a little better. For instance, I found it easier to slide all the stops and bed attachments into the side rails rather than insert the bed attachments after the stops were installed. Also I inserted the rails too wide and the cover slipped off the tracks. The side rails cover the pocket holes on my truck, which may be an issue if you plan to use those. The cover is not waterproof, but is does keep the bed fairly dry, especially when using the drain tubes. I did find the cover hard to retract all the way after a while, maybe from dust and dirt. ... show more

Love the product, easy to install but the rating is because of customer service. When I went through Amazon to request customer service the link sent me to the Gator website. I called Gator and after giving them my order number told me they did not sell this to me a company called Retrax did. What? They said Retrax makes the product and put Gator's branding on it. What? So now Gator customer service gives me another phone number to call. Guess what, it gets forwarded back to Gator. So now add an TF to the What? The new customer service guy knew the phone number is not the correct one so he gives me another phone number. TF to the What? Finally I get ahold of Retrax. Because I called one minute to closing we got "disconnected". Really!? Finally called during my personal time at work the next day and Retrax customer service tells me to adjust the cover in such a way that goes against their instructions and takes the cover out of square. This solves my problem but created a new problem, the cover does not slide as easily as it did when it was square. I originally asked for a new, longer seal to fix the gaps I had after my perfect install. Nope, Retrax went cheap and said to make the adjustment. Im not wasting anymore time and will fix the issue myself. I wish Amazon would not let a seller sell as one brand then allow that brand to divert a customer to another brand. ... show more

I took some time looking into getting a new bed cover and I saw great reviews for this product, my previous bed cover was a tri fold that left a third of my bed unusable without removing it and I was finally fed up with it. I’d give this product a zero if I could. The problems I have with it are as follows; it feels extremely cheap and flimsy when installed, the mounting brackets were warped, the screw holes were not full drilled out, there were several places where the paint was worn away on the top from poor packaging, the brackets were not cut properly on the ends so in order to have fit this product properly I would have had to use a chop saw to even the cuts out, the quality control and materials used to make this product are very poor for the price. I go hunting and sometimes leave stuff in my bed and I had absolutely no confidence that this cover would keep anyone out if they had any desire to get in. After spending an hour lining all of the brackets and installing everything I took it all back off put it back in the box and filled for a return the next day. I bought a Bakflip instead and am very happy with it, maybe check them out instead. ... show more
