Mini-PCs these days have gotten pretty incredible. For $150 (clip the coupon!) this little PC can do quite a bit. I've spent the last two weeks playing around with this thing; I needed a spare system for OS build testing. When it comes to testing Linux Distros with a GUI, I prefer not to be running them on a VM so being able to get some lightweight hardware cheap for testing has been a boon. Don't let the price point fool you though; this system will be able to handle day to day workloads and more just fine. Just don't expect triple AAA gaming, AI workloads, or heavy video editing workloads (If you are doing those kinds of workloads, you probably already know to look elsewhere). All models available have an Intel Alderlake N100 CPU, and the model I purchased has 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 512GB SSD. 8GB of RAM will be fine for daily driving this system for most people, but getting the 16GB is good idea for anyone with the habit of keeping many applications open at once. The N100 CPU in this system does a really fine job, considering all 4 cores are efficiency cores on a 6 watt CPU (only 6 watts! Total system power under load is around 18 watts however). You could leave this system on 24/7 and barely affect your power consumption (lightweight server for example). I've attached a few photos to this review. One is showing that the included Windows 11 Pro install is malware free (if that is a concern to anyone), One is showing the size of the PC compared to an XboxOne controller for scale, one is showing the internals of the device, and two of them are showing off BazziteOS running on it (more on that later). One really cool thing about this mini-PC is that the top cover pops off for easy access to the internals for upgrades, replacement parts, whatever. I don't feel like there is much here that you would want to upgrade, but in case you need to replace hardware later it's a nice option. Speaking of which, if you want to upgrade the RAM, please note that the Intel N100 only supports Single Channel RAM, so if you upgrade you will be doing so with a single stick. I tested BazziteOS on this for fun (BazziteOS is essentially a Fedora reimagining of SteamOS/HoloISO). Bazzite runs pretty well on the desktop environment. If you launch gamescope however, don't expect great performance as this is an intel based system and gamescope performs far better on AMD systems. When launching games from gamescope, vulkan shaders take a very very long time to compile, but when they finish you can get some decent performance from older games. I was able to play Arcade Paradise at around 40FPS 1280x720. Not bad. Honestly, for the price of this system, pretty darn good. I can't add links to reviews, but if you want more data before purchasing, Jeff Geerling has a great video on YouTube comparing this same mini-PC to a Raspberry Pi 5. There are also multiple articles with gaming benchmarks for the Intel N100, with approximately the same specs for the rest of their systems. For basic computing, this thing is phenomenal. As a lightweight server, this is also really good. For retro gaming or lightweight PC gaming, it'll do well enough. For the price, you really can't go wrong.

Upfront, I am impressed with the GMKtec G2. I have purchased a number of mini/micro PCs recently for various projects (both personal and commercial) so I feel I have some good points of reference for this unit. From a "brand" standpoint, I've tried a few different ones but I find myself coming back to GMKtec. I like their designs, the products are solid and well engineered, and they have a fully open/unlocked BIOS, which allows for some case-specific tweaking on my end. I have a total of 3 comparable units: this GMKtec G2 (Intel N100, 12G DDR5-4800 RAM, 512GB mSATA), the GMKtec KB5 (Intel N5105, 8G DDR4-2933 RAM, 128GB mSATA), Kamrui AK1Plus (Intel N95, 8G DDR4-2933 RAM, 256GB mSATA). Out of the box, the G2 scored 8.7% better than the AK1Plus and 42% better than the KB5 on Passmark PerformanceTest 9 (older version sure, but it's what I have). The N5105 is an older generation CPU, so this difference is understandable, but still bigger than I expected. The KB5 was something I purchased for a remote monitoring PC and a digital signage project, it's extremely capable for those tasks as well as light office type tasks. This G2 with the boost CPU and RAM push it into the range of honest general usage. You're not really going to play any modern games on it, but any web browsing, video streaming, day to day basic usage is easily handled. It would also make a great emulation rig for a home arcade machine project or classic gaming station. The N95 vs N100 is fairly close in overall specs, with the N95 being slightly higher TDP/power and slightly faster graphics (but less execution engines: 16 vs N100's 24), so the main difference maker here is the memory. DDR5 4800 MT/s over the DDR4 2933 MT/s provides a solid boost in both CPU, Memory, and 2D graphics benchmarks and real world performance. 2D graphics benchmarks clock in at 628 for G2, 565 for AK1Plus, 458 for KB5; and 3D benchmarks are within 1% across all 3 chips/models (the scores are low, these aren't made for 3D graphics). The CPU benchmarks show the biggest difference with the N100 here coming in at 7881, the N95 in the AK1Plus model scored 7062, and the N5105 in the KB5 model scored 3660. Now there is a tweak I did in the BIOS to boost performance and benchmark scores here to a consistent 8300, which is a 5% boost. I changed the fan settings, adjusted the power limits, and tweaked the core boost values. This does not overclock this CPU at all, but what it does do is allows the CPU to run at full strength. Raising the fan setting here is the most important to help offset heat and thermal throttling. Normal usage doesn't cause it to throttle very often and by default the fan is quite quiet, but if you do anything that pushes all the cores for any length of time, it does heat up and then throttle. I've taken mine apart to see how it fits together and the design is clever and impressive. Taking the bottom panel off shows the CPU cooler (all copper) and is where the LED ring on the bottom plugs into the motherboard. Nothing really accessible there. RAM is soldered on in chiplets, so non-replaceable, but at 12G running DDR5 you likely wouldn't need to anyway. The top panel, which is replaceable with the included red 3D-printed option, reveals the mSATA SSD, and underneath is the WiFi/BT card. If you disconnect either WiFi antenna connection, they are a bit difficult to reconnect but must be done otherwise you'll have terrible WiFi reception. The plastic insert sitting under the WiFi card can only be removed by disconnecting the WiFi antennas and really doesn't reveal anything replaceable or upgradable underneath. The form factor of the unit is nice and small, somewhat impressively so at 3.5"x3.5"x1.6". They make the most use of the size available too, with power button on front, USB on right side, display on left side, and networking & power on the rear. This design works great for being mounted to the back of a monitor or underside of a desk/cabinet. If you're looking for a minimalist and clean cable arrangement, you might find this layout annoying. With dual 1G LAN ports, this box could also be repurposed as a small firewall device if you chose to install PFSense or OPNSense. You could also install Hyper-V on the included Win11 Pro install and have a dedicated port for a VM. I tested each port and got close to line speed on both simultaneously (~800-900mbps). WiFi performance was acceptable too, with an avg of 300-400 mbps on a WiFi5 connection and 600-800 mbps on a WiFi6 connection. I was unable to test the bandwidth of the 3 USB 3.2 ports, but anything I threw at it worked just fine, included an external SSD. Triple display support with 2 HDMI and 1 DP is nice. The DP is v1.4 but doesn't support 8k as a limitation of the CPU itself, but triple 4k displays isn't too shabby! The unit pulled about 8-9W of power at idle and ramped up to about 36W at absolute max, averaging closer to 16W during normal usage. Hooking this up to even a small UPS should allow plenty of runtime in power outages if you want/need to keep this up 24/7. The CPU cooler is well sized and designed for the CPU used. A more powerful CPU (or the ability to overclock this chip) would require a more powerful cooler. My only slight issues with the unit are: it would have been nice to have a USB Type-C on the front near the power button, and the Realtek LAN choice over an Intel (possibly even a 2.5G) option is a bit limiting but an understandable cost measure. As a lightweight office-use PC or Kiosk type machine, it is absolutely sufficient. As a low power, low cost, task specific project PC this is a fantastic choice with enough CPU and RAM power to take more complex tasks. Small on-premise web server or digital signage, custom Arcade emulator or classic console game emulator, running monitoring or automation software, or even lightweight Hypervisor are all fantastic choices for this unit.

I exhausted my limited troubleshooting options and contacted GMKtec Customer Support. After a short exchange, I was sent a new power supply, and the unit is back in use (including the writing this review).

I ordered this unit in September of 2025. It worked flawlessly until 16 February 2026. It suddenly quit operating. No power light at all. I reached out to the manufacturer for assistance as it came with a 1 year warranty. I was afraid that I was going to have to get a new unit and lose all of my software upgrades including MS Office, Turbo Tax etc. Not to mention all of my imported data, files, and pictures. Lara responded to my request for assistance and miraculously determined that the power supply had failed in the power cord. They shipped a replacement and it was received within a week or so. The system powered back up and worked fine until two weeks ago. I started experiencing an intermittent blank or snowy display. So I reached back out to Lara at GMKtec for assistance. We worked together to identify the source of he issue. As it turned out, the VGA to HDMI adapter that I purchased to mate up with this unit was experiencing a chip failure. I decided to purchase a new monitor that supported HDMI to HDMI connectivity and it worked flawlessly. The customer service and product support that I have received from Lara at GMKtec has been truly exceptional. It's truly unparalleled by others in this industry. I highly recommend this unit and manufacturer based on my personal experience.

Update: 2026-04-07 - Changing my review to 5 stars. I’ve been using the NucG3 for over a year now to run Home Assistant. In this role it’s perfect!! It’s small, quiet, and power efficient. Only time I ever hear it is when rebooting or installing updates, even then it’s not very loud. I mounted to the back of my monitor using the VESA mounts. I’m running multiple HA apps, with nearly 2500 entities and still have 3.5gb memory to spare I'm currently using it for email, web, news and YouTube. Connected to a 4k monitor. I've been using the NucG3 for about a week, and here's my notes. Positives: * Price - Sale price + tax cost ~ $160, this puts it in the same price range as a raspberry pi 5. However, the NucG3 includes Windows 11, and more powerful CPU/GPU. * Look and feel - All plastic, but feels solid. Color is a matte green, with the top looking like carbon fiber. (I really like this look) * Performance - Capable running of multiple simultaneous applications. (Browser with multiple tabs, email client, solitaire). Thoughts: * Capable of 4k video, but frame start dropping if anything else going on at the same time. * I wish GMKTec patched their base Windows 11 image, as it took about 90 minute to apply OS and security updates when first starting. * Encountered some screen flickering to black when connected to a VPN while on wireless. However, after connecting to ethernet, zero issues. Note, I'm not sure if this is a Windows 11 or wireless issue. * Dead silent when under low load, but fan will turn up when CPU load goes up. However it's not very loud. * Great bang for the buck.

Awesome mini PC for home and office use. I bought this mini (even smaller than average) PC in order to make what in essence would function as a laptop for my disabled elderly mother in law. I coupled it with an 18" touchscreen portable monitor and a keyboard with a track pad. It's small size allowed me to use the vesa mounts on the back of the monitor to take it a lightweight, contained PC. Setup took no time at all, as it was more of finding all her passwords and moving her information over to it that took the most time. 2x m.2 slots let me easily transfer her old drive into this computer, and the absolute ease of getting access to that area made upgrading the ram a process that took under a minute. It had no problems with streaming 4k 60fps video, and every normal office and casual process I had it do, it was quick and responsive. While it can handle some very lightweight gaming, I'd suggest using a service like Luna if you plan to game on it, or otherwise I'd suggest GMKtec's M7 and using an eGPU (my personal gaming rig). While I've had no issues with this computer, in the past when I needed assistance from GMKtec with an issue that wasn't even their fault (3rd supplier sold a faulty me an outdated and faulty K2 PC) GMKtec actually made sure I was taken care of, and with coordination from Amazon, was able to remedy the situation. The hardware is solid, compact and hassle free, and knowing the customer service is responsible and actually cares about their customers, I can say with certainty, I will continue to buy and recommend their mini PCs.

We were shocked (and angered) to learn in October 2021 that NONE of our three Windows PCs could be updated to the just released MS Windows 11. One of the three, a Samsung, laptop was only one year old! Fast forward to June 2024. Still using Windows 10 on all three machines. I was just about to bite the bullet and get a Mac Mini - because - why would I ever let MS stick it to me again. But in May, I accidentally came across a review of this Windows 11 Pro, no-frills, low cost, low profile possible replacement for spouse's old laptop. Got it - and it works great! In particular, it has more memory, larger and faster hard drive, faster CPU, just the right amount of HDMI and USB ports. It also has WIFI 6, which means it runs much faster (300MBPS Down, 44 MBPS Up) with my WIFI 6 capable router from the back of the house. As others have noted, it took several hours to download and install all the Windows updates. I also put BitDefender on it. Scanned with no issues. Of course, this is no guarantee that MS won't stick it to me again. Look at all the AI activity going on. Who knows whether this will be updateable to a future Windows 12? But for the price, this has been a great choice to finally get a Windows 11 machine in the house without breaking the bank or forcing me to take a byte of the poisoned Apple.

You should use the R2000 installer instead of the consumer Ryzen 5 3500U package. IF you need to for whatever reason re-install the video drivers. Even though GMKtec advertises and sells the G10 as containing a consumer "Ryzen 5 3500U", they actually manufactured the motherboard using the industrial Ryzen Embedded R2514 processor. Because of this internal hardware mismatch, standard Windows consumer drivers and the generic AMD Adrenalin software will constantly throw errors or completely fail to install. How to Install the Correct Driver Bypass the standard consumer search menus entirely and install the enterprise-embedded version: 1. Go directly to the official AMD Drivers and Support Page. 2. Look through the product categories and select Processors > AMD Ryzen Embedded > Ryzen Embedded R-Series > Ryzen Embedded R2000 Series. 3. Download the AMD Embedded Windows 64-bit Catalyst Driver. 4. Run this installer. It natively recognizes your exact DEV_15D8 and SUBSYS_01231002 strings, correctly mapping your 512-shader Vega 8 graphics chip without any verification blocks. The package will have two driver packages, run the smaller one first. The second will throw a 182 error, ask AI to help you manually install the drive (have disk) and install the driver for the vega 8, radeon vega 8. It is involved. If you had other drivers, you may need to go in safe mode first and run DDU (first disable your wifi or upon reboot or windows will install incorrect drivers for you before you can stop it and you'll have to start over. Now the review, for decent performance, I needed to go to performance mode in the bios with esc key; because the gpu is capped at a mere 200mhz in balanced mode. Use AI to turn off windows power saving features that are hidden that will make this box run like a pig; there are allot of them. The same with your web browser. Then go to youtube, if the fan goes nuts, you missed some setting. It's okay, I'm retired, or if you live in your moms basement you've got the time to do the above. My GMKtec N97 Nucbox G5 running linux mint is peer to peer with this without drama, though this is running win 11, I hate windows but there is this one program I need... This was about a hundred less a year ago and I would say a bargain then if you are willing to do the above. Oh, the r2514 has high reliability firmware the final driver update was around 3/25. The 3500U firmware is less stable but is updated and might run games a few percent faster, still being updated. The 3500U is just about at end of its support life, the r2514 is a newer chip only in that introduced after the 3500U had a bit of track record. Same exact performance/architecture but a different identifier on the die, 3500U consumer grade, R2514 industrial. Again, if you install a new display driver, you have to baby sit the process and insure it all worked out. PS – After you have done the above. Windows Pro includes a Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc). Have AI show you how to use this tool to: stop driver updates, do not update the video driver (21.0.21923.1000) dated 3-6-2025, tell the microsoft store to not automatically do application updates (can stop the AMD utility app from running). If you don’t windows will install a much older AMD driver or a generic intel driver.
