They are good for beginners who will go through a lot of reeds due to them breaking and chipping from learning how to use and put on a reed. Not for intermediate or professionals. Good deal for the cost.

    • Perfect Right Out Of the Box, But ...
I purchased the pack of ten. I first tried one of these when I purchased a backup sax for my son (Glory). Just before throwing them out (I figured, who actually uses the free reeds that comes with a $180 sax???) I tried one of the reeds. The sound out of the reed straight from the package (after a little wetting) was better than all the reeds in my Vandoren SRMIXA25 Alto Sax Jazz Reed Mix. I typically go through a routine to prepare each reed to get the sound right over a couple weeks. These are the first reeds I have ever used that consistently sound perfect on first use. Unfortunately after a few weeks of steady use, the first in the box went soft and then became unplayable. Another seems to be going that way ... ... show more
