This is exactly how it is described. It is light weight and rich and my plants LOVE IT. You will have to adjust your watering routine as it does hold moisture longer. But I always check my plants before I water or bottom water to avoid over watering. If you don't change your behavior and follow the lead of your plants you will end up with mold or fungus gnats because of the extra moisture. If you are open to something that Works differently -and better- than your usual soil, and are willing to follow the lead of your plants water needs, you'll love this! ... show more

I kept seeing ads, so I got a bag. It is light and fluffy, sometimes hard for plants to root without tipping over. It smells like rotting wood. When exposed to light, Algae takes over. It claims resistance to pests, but fungus gnats made a home in the soil. I wound up mixing spent soil 3 to 2 ratio and it amended it. ... show more

    • Takes getting used to
I really want to LOVE this soil. It may just be because it's unlike other soil types I've used. Definitely no mites or mold and is super lightweight. I am still figuring out water amounts because it stays saturated for ages which isn't great for some of my plants.

    • Cannot figure out the watering
The soil is lightweight but it holds on to moisture SO long. My indoor plants are getting moldy. I think I need to moisten it and let it sit, stir, and THEN pot it with the plants. I’m in the middle of undoing the damage and will update my review if it gets better.
