i got these after looking for a while to find the best blackout curtains. the reviews were pretty good and they were cheap so why not. they obviously are not completely blackout and they don’t let much light in but are completely see through. honestly, i like these curtains and for 30$ they are a steal. they are blackout but if you want a completely dark room i would suggest spending more. ... show more

What can I say? These are definitely some blackout curtains. If you've ever been to a hotel with blacked out curtains that's basically what they are. Great working curtains. From someone that works overnight, my God this has changed my sleeping during the day issues. I'll sleep all day long with these curtains. I want to post a picture but my phone adapts to low lighting so the picture would be misleading since it looks like it's much brighter than what it is. Yes you will get light coming from around the edges but not as much as people make it out to be. Put it this way... when I walk into my room in the middle of the day I have to turn the light on if the blinds are shut. That should really tell you something. As far as energy efficiency, I can't really tell since I haven't really gone through a really hot day yet but my room is the one that gets the hottest and I have noticed it stays relatively fresher now. So much so that I don't need to turn on the AC in the room as early as I use to. Before I'd have to turn the AC on around noon or 1pm when the heat would wake me up. Now I can go all the way until 3pm until the heat wakes me up. So I'm not sure if it's from the weather since I don't check the weather but that's a difference I've noticed since I've bought these blinds. All in all they exceeded my expectations since I was expecting way less from reading some comments. Definitely recommend and I'll definitely be looking to buy another set of these in different color. ... show more

Got these for my 14 yr old. She always puts blankets up in her windows to keep the light out of her room. Not only so do these look great but they block the light out about 98 percent. As you see in reviews you can see a tiny bit peeping thru the material but let me make it clear ...her room is black. She was seriously impressed. Now she has stopped using blankets and we are both happy. The material is not thin. I'm actually very impressed how nice these curtains are. ... show more

Bought this for our toddler's room, which faces East, and she'd come running in as soon as the slightest bit of light started in her room, letting us know that the sun was up. Which, some days, this was 6 am. Not fun. So we installed blackout blinds, which cut down a little, but not enough. Ordered these on a whim, and they are PERFECT for this! There's still a little light that peeks around the curtain during broad daylight, but she's now sleeping in until 8:30-9 am. We don't live in a noisy area, so the sound-dampening properties I can't comment on, but we don't hear the birds chirping while we're in her room, so there's that. Overall, highly recommend these. Worked perfect for what I needed. When I get off at 6am, it’s hard to sleep because when the sun comes up it’s blaring in my bedroom windows. These curtains work perfect. I have existing curtains up that are more decorative than anything. I just bought some curtain hook pins and stuck them in the existing curtains and put these on the hooks. It’s takes out about 95% of the sunlight. I could go around the edges with some tacks and really block out all the light. With my existing curtains up and these on top of them, the only light that gets through is around the edges. 5 stars. ... show more

These aren’t really “blackout” as in you will still be able to see the outline of your closet door and you won’t be bumping into anything with these up but they get very dark. I don’t really like natural sunlight almost in a weird vampire-ish kind of way so I hate when my room is bright. These helped a ton with blocking out light during the day. And it’s pretty much pitch black at night even though I have bright street lights shining in my room. I think these are worth it for the price. I keep seeing people with no blinds saying these are bad curtains. If you don’t have blinds on your windows, these are NOT good blackout curtains. I would also suggest investing in blinds if you can. I have some cheap, thick blinds that I also keep closed which helps block out the light as well. But even with the blinds closed, too much light was getting into my room. This curtain made a world of difference. I ended up buying the black one btw! ... show more
