Why didn't I get one of these sooner..So far so good, not sure what people are doing to have issues, maybe not following directions on retracting or letting the hose go and not holding on while it retracts, mount it securely, turn off water and un pressurize hose and WALK the hose back in, no issues, I like that it come off the mount easy for winter time, the hose is big enough to supply my small pressure washer and no more reeling or cranking a hose! I love it so far, I'm sure in a few years of light duty it will need to be replaced, but the price is good and quality seems to be good so far, I think bad reviews are people being too rough or retracting full of water. Anything will break if you act like a gorilla using it. ... show more

Love, love, love this hose reel!! The housing is super attractive and very sturdy. The retractable mechanism is flawless. This is our second purchase. We now have one out front and one in the backyard. We'll never go back to any other hose reel.

I purchased two of these 11 months ago. They work great, except for two issues: 1. One constantly jams and doesn’t fully recoil 2. Both hose nozzles have cracked during the freeze/winter storm even after turning off the water and emptying the lines. I love my hose reel! I wish I had purchased one earlier!! I can’t mount it to the fence or the exterior of my house, so I bought a fence post. Unfortunately I had them cut it about a foot too short and this is key, it’s a 4x4 post. I didn’t read the instructions well to notice that it needs a mounting surface of 5” wide. So take note! Unpacked, mounted at suggested height. Used it to water, went to retract after 10 -15 feet …guide stopped moving. Tried to call customer service (during business hours) no one was available. Going to return and buy hose and hanger, not worth it for 200.00. Gave it 1 star for packing

FINALLY!!! This is my third attempt at finding a hose winder worth it's salt.... Our house sits up about three to four foot above the driveway so the winder has to rewind going up hill. Even full of water I have to regulate the speed in which the winder retracts the hose. It's that strong. The prior two (substandard) winders could barely rewind after I drained the hose and that is if they didn't jam up inside the housing before rewinding fully. I wish I had stepped up to the Giraffe winder the first time I spent good money after bad. Great product...thank you Giraffe!!! ... show more

So was really looking forward to not having to wrap up my hose every time and have the length and power to use a hose all over my front yard. I received this product and watched all the videos on youtube i could find and they all showed a disconnect pin that you could take out to get the mounting bracket on nice and sturdy before adding the hose reel. Well i paid extra for metal plate and nowhere does it say this is a one piece. It is. You get the mounting sheet in last page but as i was mounting to rock as soon as i drilled on it it slipped. I measured the tape and used 3/8 drill bit. Got it in there and went to put in anchors and of course the first two only go halfway and start to bend. I got a bigger drill bit for other two and they fit fine. Now here is the really painful part. The unit is heavy and its all one unit. So it is definitely a two person job. I did not have two people and i can tell you it took me 2 hours to get this thing on and i only got three bolts in. why on earth does this not have a disconnect i have no idea. It is so hard to get on. I wish i hadn't got it to where it is now as i would of sent it back. one thing about being analog it may take more time but works. the range of motion is not good and i hope that it tries to loosen up as time goes on. when i go to the side and try and pull it the hose wont come out even though there is more than 80 ft left. then every time i start walking it wants to wrap itself back up. the holding mechanism sucks. All and All for $200 i feel completely ripped off and would say unless you get the disconnect and are mounting on completely flat surface, preferably a wood one do not buy! ... show more
