What a great variety of beads! Any kid, girl or boy, will have a great time creating fun, wearable art. My granddaughters and I will get to make so many things! I just have to wait a little longer, until the youngest one is three. Stretchy cord is included but you may need to pick up more; there are alot of beads! Check out YouTube guides for tying stretchy cord securely. The largest beads, pony beads, can go on larger diameter cord which isn’t included.

These beads are very cutesy. Obviously younger girls would very much love all these shaped beads, but older girls could use them as charms with other bead kits. it is able to stand alone, but would do quite well with another kit. I like the square letter beads. It also has a lot of pony beads. They aren't in a predictable coloring, but put with another kit of pony beads or clay round beads, you could definitely make a couple mixed bead type patterned bracelets or pieces of jewelry. Though it doesn't have everything to get started, it does come with elastic string, and so all you'll need are scissors and a good idea! This would be a great activity for rainy days, sleepovers, birthday parties, and play dates! There are a lot of types of beads including some that boys would like. The mushrooms make me think of Mario Bros, and some of these are just pictures of cool items like a pizza, drink cup, alien ship, telescope, skull and crossbones sort of, spider, christmas, octopus, stars, basketball and other sports balls, plus some animals. So this set is good for both boys and girls too!

This set is compact but includes plenty to keep kids busy. The beads are separated by theme which is great for creating interest-based jewelry. We had just a couple smashed or faulty beads which is fine out of 1000+. The rest are cute and many include a surprising level of detail. The pony beads were an odd addition since they're a completely different size. Likewise, the alphabet beads seem like an afterthought since there aren't enough to guarantee all letters or multiples of common letters. Also note that the 300 "clay beads" are just skinny spacers. With all that said, at the current price after coupon/promo of less than $7, this is still worth it for the variety and self-contained package.
