The Amazon star ratings for this set is high. The quality and durability ratings are somewhat low. I don't understand why. Yes, maybe if you compare them to a $1,000 knife set. The knives are very sharp and seem durable. Time will tell on the actual durability. I washed one of the steak knives in the dishwasher and I didn't get any rust spots. Other than a very cheap set of steak knives we once had, we haven't had any rust issues with any knife set. My theory on that is we always use heated dry on our dishwasher. This speeds up the time it takes for the water to evaporate. The shorter the water exposure the less risk for rust. Again, time will tell if my theory a is correct. Overall, a quality knife set in my opinion as an average user, not a professional chef. ... show more

These particular knives were a recommended buy on Consumer Reports. The cost was much better then a full on commercial set at four or five times the price. I have had them about two months and have not been disappointed with anything in the set.

Very attractive design, fits well in your hand, very sharp. Just what I expected them to do. One thing missing that I would have liked, particularly since there are so many pieces in the set beyond the steak knives and which I saw on similar items was that each piece was labeled, both on the knife and the slot where it went into the block. We first bought some Henckels but had issues with those and bought these instead. I will say, the Henckels were sharper. These are sharp enough, but coming from the Henckels, even though we had them for only a few days, those were noticeably sharper, but make no mistake, I've had no issues cutting anything with these knives. One of the few knife blocks that came with the Bread Knife but wasn't some 25+ piece set. Everything here is useful to us, nothing wasted. The only things is, even though we hand wash all the knives, they've still spotted with tarnish very quickly. other than that though, they appear to be in good shape visually. no issues. ... show more

Best set of knives I've ever owned. Very nice feel, balance, and overall quality. Caught them on sale and am super stoked. I fully recommend buying the optional forged version of the Chikara steak knives and replacing the cheaper steak knives that come in this set. It is well worth the extra $ to have an all-forged set of 19 knives. The only drawback to my new setup is the difficult choice of which beautiful knife to use next! Also...I just cut a raw London Broil into thin slices for beef jerky with the Chef's knife for the first time...with one single motion it slid through it so easily and smoothly that I had to laugh out loud. ... show more

Since I got these, everyone that tried them has bought a set. I do a lot of cooking and these are great. I owned a kiso set of ginsu knives for years, which are still sharp to this day. Buy this set, you will not be disappointed!! The provided honing rod is a great feature
