I did my last PC upgrade about 8 years ago. I was pleasantly surprised by how things changed since then. There are 4 slots for NVMe in this motherboard with heatsinks. There are plenty of SATA ports. I used this board with Intel Core i5-13600KF, Noctua NH-D15S, Kingston Fury Beast Black 64GB 5600MT DDR5, SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD (buy one without heatsink, since the motherboard has heatsinks) There was no need to do BIOS re-flash, everything worked out of the box (although I did BIOS update later to have the latest and greatest). I installed Windows 11 Professional in less than 15 minutes (most time spent learning how to bypass the need to have a Microsoft account for the installation). Pros: 1. CPU cooler power connector is too close to the edge of the board. I had a hard time fitting the connector because it was too close to the tower fan. Most people won't have this issue, but I did. 2. Motherboard Bluetooth failed to be recognized by Windows 11 until I powered off the PC (physical unplug power) and restarted it. This is a known issue for the motherboards of this family. ... show more

Motherboard worked great right out of the box. The only issue I had was my own fault, I thought the onboard video was HDMI, but it is displayport. Gigabyte has a great little adapter that makes connecting the start, reset, HD, etc jumpers very easy. I did a BIOS upgrade right after installation. Gigabyte has what is called Aorus APP which made that extremely easy. My setup uses all 6 SATA ports, their position makes it very easy to connect/disconnect. I spent just under $600 on the motherboard, 12th gen core I-7 CPU, 32 gigs of DDR5 RAM, 1 TB M.2 SDD and fan. Kept my old case, power supply, monitor , keyboard and mouse. I could not have bought a new computer with this much horse power for more twice that cost. ... show more

DDR5 Memory issues from day 1. Coming from an ASUS ROG board, the BIOS looked like something from 2005...very difficult to navigate and this is my 5th build in 10 years. After trying 2 different types of memory listed as compatible, it finally worked somewhat reliably under the slowest XMP profile. Updated to latest BIOS which improved the interface greatly but caused one stick of RAM to not be recognized. Moved to other slots and BIOS saw all memory but Windows saw only 1. Rebooted and board would not repost. Reverted BIOS via USB and still no post. Now I have a paperweight that will not post with any memory. Read the other reviews regarding this board and memory issues... they're real. Avoid this and save yourself the hassle. ... show more

I used this board for my first PC build and it went great, I did have some problems initially to have the BIO post however later on I realized that one of the SATA cable wasn't connected to the 870 EVO SSD, so the board kept getting error 66. This board is for 12th gen core and it worked great with it. Pretty much BIO installation for windows is pretty easy. I just used a windows USB. For BIOs update: it really doesn't matter if you update after installing windows or before, as long as you get a post. It is a guarantee you have your set up running correctly. My biggest problem would be the AIO would be in the way for DDR5 ram A2 slot. But 64 gb ram run great as it ... show more

The good, this card for the price you get a LOT of features and the lastest too. The card feels very solid and high quality, this is a card for the long run. The bad (not that is a bad thing since it comes with the Q FLASH option) you will need to Q FLASH THE BIOS with newer processors in my case the I5 -13600k it was a pain since you get no visuals prior update, once you install all previous bios updates from the oldest to the newest ( for some reason only doing the lastest Didnt work for me) you see a very friendly bios and tons of customization. ... show more

I was a little worried seeing the reviews for the gigabyte z690 aorus ultra, but made the decision to purchase due to a sale for such a feature rich motherboard. It seems a lot of the issues were due to past bios versions and has now been addressed. I used q flash plus with a USB drive to install the latest bios from gigabytes website and it worked great. I definitely had to flash the updated bios when I first got it which was a bit of a pain, mostly due to my own ignorance (had to remove the GPU while flashing). However, since then I've updated the bios whenever there's an update on Gigabyte's website and this thing runs great! I had an Aorus (Z270X) board before but this one's even better (albeit way more expensive)! Compared to the competition, this was the best MB I could find and it's pretty perfect. 😁 ... show more
