  • Quality entry level X870
It was an easy install, no issues with the ram I picked out, booted up fine the first try. Paired it with a 7900X and some g-skill Flare X5 DDR5-6000 CL30 ram. The board has some heft which is a nice sign. A decent amount of USB ports. The quick connect for the wifi antennae is a nice idea, but I prefer to use an external antennae that I can position separately. That said the wifi overall works much better than the last board I was using so its hard to complain. I ignored much of the software that Gigabyte provides for it as others recommended. I do think the non primary m2 slots just sitting there between pci-e slots with no heat sink is kinda outdated, but not really a worry for my particular use. Good budget X870 board overall. ... show more

  • Good motherboard, but don't install CFosSpeed.
My experience was mostly positive. It was easy to install. No issues with CPU or GPU compatibility. The onboard wifi is twice as fast as my old PCI-e Wifi 6 when connected to the same 5Ghz network. Using this motherboard for 2 months, it's been rock solid. The bad: CFosSpeed. It's a "network traffic shaping" driver that's part of the driver suite with Gigabyte Control Center. I was having latency issues and inconsistent download speeds. Took me a while to pin down CFosSpeed as the culprit. After I uninstalled it, my network issues disappeared. Other observations: Only the primary m2 SSD slot has a heat sink and spiffy EZ-Latch attachment mechanism. The other 2 m2 slots are open-air with screw-holes to hold down the drives. Pretty old-school. Also, there are only 2 additional full length PCI-e slots other than the main slot for the GPU. Testing my old wifi card meant plugging a tiny x1 PCIe card into a full length x16 slot. I would have preferred if they provided one more x1 slot. ... show more

  • Excellent Board, Minor Gripes w/ PCIe Lanes
Works as advertised in a hybrid workstation/gaming PC. Even with the USB3 header (FU3A) port bent at ~13° because the case I bought insets the motherboard into a panel, it's going strong. Thermals are cool and stable, even when the system is under load. This board only seems to bifurcate the two secondary M.2 slots, with everything else running at full. PCIe x16 supports x8x8 and x8x4x4 bifurcation. Not sure about x4x4x4x4; I forgot to check the BIOS for it. Would be hilarious to run four eGPUs out of that slot, but I'm not made of money. Knocking a star for the two PCIe 3.0 x1 lanes. I'd knock more stars if the x1 lanes were actual x1 length. Thankfully, they're x16 length. The lanes themselves are fine and work as intended, but they're not very useful; this is definitely a budget board. This Gigabyte board does not take full advantage of the Ryzen 9000 series'—admittedly limited—PCIe lanes. If you need more PCIe lanes, particularly PCIe x4, I would recommend the AORUS Elite X870E over this model since it has one 4.0 x4 and one 3.0 x4. I would honestly prefer more PCIe expansion slots on motherboards versus the modern trend of five billion M.2 slots, but I don't think that's Gigabyte's fault; every other manufacturer is also doing this, and AMD and Intel are not exactly making their "consumer" CPUs with enough PCIe lanes to actually justify more slots. I am admittedly in the minority since I run multi-GPU rigs for Blender, so I guess take my opinion with a grain of salt. ... show more

  • Micro Stutters in Metro Exodus Enhanced
Nice board. Fully functional and seems to work well in MOST applications. One application I had trouble with and was unable to get resolved and was the ultimate reason for returning was Metro Exodus Enhanced. This application exhibited micro stutters in the video while gaming. I attempted every fix I could find on the internet to no avail. Eventually I replaced it with a different manufacturer's board and the problem is resolved. I believe if Gigabyte looked into it they would most likely fix it with a BIOS update. Other than that one game I had no issues with it. Easy installation of Windows 11 without needing a seperate NIC, unlike some other boards I have used in the past. ... show more

  • Easy to setup
Out of the box ready to go, not hard to enable profiles for RAM. Haven't had any issues since I put it in last month.

  • Beware of the bloatware when installing drivers.
Works well and was easy to build on. It was my first build and the process was fairly painless. Although they make it kind of difficult to find the instructions. Only rating this so low because of all the bloatware they try to force on you when downloading the drivers. Also you can't use wifi until you download the wifi driver, so I had to use a wired connection. Then I accidently downloaded all the bloatware on initial setup, so I had to wipe everything and do a fresh install and deselected all the bloat. Other than that it is operating just fine. ... show more

  • Fast boot times, cool temperatures, good bios
so far so good, haven't had any issues that i could attribute to the board itself. One thing i will note that isnt apparent when you buy this motherboard is that if you use all 3 ssd slots the speed of the bottom 2 will be cut in half due to the way the lanes are setup, that being said you are unlikely to notice this, I only noticed it because I reading the manual while traveling. But yeah, great board quality, it has a clean look, the performance is there and I really love the Bios design. ... show more
