Like everything, plug and play right out of the box for the most part. Didn't even need to flash bios. I tried 4 different ASUS boards and had to send them all back and wasted countless hours on that garbage. I've always had good luck with Gigabyte. This one is the bomb with 10G NIC, PCI3 5.0 among other things, plenty of room. Might be a little expensive but it is right in line with other x670e boards with a 10G NIC which is where the extra costs come from. I have 3 managed 10G switches so this should really perform, I am using it for a NAS since I had to send beck 2 ASUS Boards because they wouldn't even light up or power on. After getting disgusted and sending the second one back I remembered I had an extra one of these on the shelf so took it out and was running in less than an hour. I know it's overkill for a NAS but it is a video server/nas and I needed at least a 10G Nic because the QNAP I just bought is a slow piece of garbage too. Wish I could send that back as well. I bought this motherboard in November 2023. I have had 5 RMA’s from the beginning. The first most critical was either an electrical short or a thermal even. Both my CPU and the socket suffered severe failure – dime size – melting pins on the socket and discoloration on the CPU, and 0 Volts for VCORE. Socket was replaced at that time. For all subsequent RMA’s, installing CPU resulted in a bent pin within the socket – socket was never replaced after the first RAM. CPU replaced with every new RMA. Fourth RMA resulted in CPU acceptance and BIOS 15 – it would not initialize memory. Took everything to Micro Center – diagnostics a) none of their components worked with Motherboard and b) my components were fried. Last RMA, took all new components with motherboard to Micro Center before I tried to do an install. My components worked fine with their motherboard; their components failed with my motherboard; and my components failed with my motherboard. Tried to update BIOS – failed – motherboard bricked? Requested new motherboard or money back. Company failed to honor warranty or CA consumer Lemon Law. ... show more

This board was a reversal of many years of computer building for me. I normally build a monster HEDT system that does everything for me. Lately though I have been building more and more purpose built computers for each task. My files now live on a 256TB truenas server and my rendering is handled by a HPE dl580 packing 1TB of ram and two 7900XTX's. So where did that leave me but to wonder if my daily rig needed to hone in on what it needed to be rather than trying to be everything. So I setout with a goal in mind a no compromise gaming pc with blistering single-threaded performance and solid gaming chops. Here I settled on the AMD 7950x3d for its gaming prowess paired with 64GB of 6000mt memory. What should have been a simple wipe and install turned into three days of frustration and a system I am still not 100% happy with. To make a long story short there is a bug in the AMD raid driver pushed from the gigabyte control center that was capable of killing the install every time without fail. This took many attempts to figure out and more to bypass. My advice is to not port your raid from one system to the next but I failed to break the array before the move so I was stuck in a loop. After installing windows in AHCI I was able to patch things up but still cant use the AMD raid and have to use windows software raid. Not the end of the world but also not the easy boot and go that I wanted. Now on to the real kicker mixed in with all the raid issues I was also chasing a bug that the system would fail to post some times and that bug remains even now as I cant narrow down what the root cause is. I tend to think IMC but everything should be well within spec so I question that logic. Other annoyances: The thunderbolt setup does not work and I can find no reason why. I tested two cards one brand new and found they both would return a error in device manager failed to start for a power failure. No amount of massaging or tricks proved to resolve this problem. I know the port is good and the cards are good as they work with other devices so it is some inconsistency with the board. So where does this leave me? Well I have the gaming rig that does what I set out to do but I feel it could be better and these nagging issues do not inspire confidence in the platform. My frames are vastly improved from the old 3870x I have been rocking from launch day allowing my 4090 to reach its full potential. I just wish the platform was more stable.
