  • For my AMD build
I bought my kid a gigabyte mb for his Intel and Nvidia rig. I was so impressed, when time came for my new rig, I got the B550 gigabyte mb for new AMD build. The bios is on deck with lots of features and options. Sadly, haters are always dissing this brand, but I’ve no complaints.

  • If you want a cheap lga1700 motherboard
Solid motherboard. It's bare bones and works well. It hasn't given me any issues for the year and a half it's been in my PC. It doesn't come with wifi which is a bit sad but I ended up just getting a Wi-Fi card.

  • Good board for the price
This is my 3rd Gigabyte micro-ATX board. I had the B560M and B460M previously. I put an i5-12400 on this one with the stock cooler and it runs great with 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RAM. I'm a mid-level gamer and don't do any overclocking so I don't need an expensive "Z" series board. My only issues with this board is the lack of a USB-C front panel header and the screw holding down the M.2 heat sink was way too tight. I was afraid I would crack the board because I had to bear down so hard to get that screw to turn loose. Also, the GPU latch did not want to release the card no matter how hard I pressed down on it. I had already taken out the rear slot screws but still I had to break the latch off to get my GPU out. I think I'll try another brand next year. For those who don't bother reading manuals, if you are using 2 RAM modules, you have to put them into the 2nd and 4th RAM slots. If you don't, you can't enable XMP in the BIOS to get the full JEDEC speed and won't get dual-channel mode. 2nd and 4th counting away from the CPU socket . Overall, for the price, this board is a good deal. ... show more

  • Great Motherboard for Windows 11 Upgrade!
If you plan on upgrading to 12th gen Intel i5-12400 or lower this is a great motherboard for the money. Going higher than the i5-12400 without direct cooling on the VRM would be a mistake. Techspot has a great review on this MB and others in the budget class. I'm only running a Pentium Gold G7400 with 16GB DDR4-3200 and this is a great upgrade if you are only planning on web browsing, using Office and such. I might upgrade to the i3-12100 later if I need more power. ... show more

  • The worst motherboard experience i've ever had!
With my last motherboard upgrade I managed to do it within a half hour. With this motherboard it took me at least an hour and lots of frustration. First off I had issues with lining up the screw holes, but totally my fault. I've never experienced this before with any motherboard ever. Strange. Then I tried to find the pin layout for the front panel connector. Too bad you can't do this because there is no printed manual. Just 1 picture of the motherboard. I had to actually use my tablet to download the full manual. Imagine if you had only one computer with internet access and it was being upgraded? All the case fan connectors on the motherboard are 4 pin, my very recent case has 3! Nice! Maybe they still work but i'll have to check into this or buy a new case fan. Luckily the PC fired up right away and I was actually AMAZED it somehow detected my boot drive and loaded Windows without a single change in the BIOS. At the start of Windows it tried to install a Gigabyte setup tool or something. I guess it didn't work because I had to install each and every driver manually. They're not exe files, but zip files! Not a big deal for me. Does Gigabyte really assume most people don't have a DVD drive now for drivers? Or are they cost cutting? Either way it's annoying. I bet MSI still includes them. All drivers are installed, but the Gigabyte App doesn't even load. I meet the requirements and have Net Framework 4.5 So now I want to get my 2tb RAID1 array going. Previously set up perfectly fine on the other motherboard and OS. I enabled it in the BIOS and restarted. Windows 10 closes and says "Inaccessible Boot Device". After a lot of frustration I give up. At one point I test one new setting and the PC refused to even boot AT ALL. I used the BIOS reset button but that did nothing. I had to remove the battery! Luckily that saved me. Right now everything is fine but I don't have access to my Raid 1 array. I'll figure out why soon I hope. My only idea is maybe it disables some SATA ports when Raid is enabled. My boot drive is on Port 7. This motherboard isn't even a really good deal, so you'd expect at least a printed manual. Previously I was using only MSI motherboards. Zero frustration with those at all. FYI I just upgraded from a Core I3-6100 to an I5-12400. Surprised to see 1080p to 480p encode speeds 3 times faster! ... show more
