Why did you pick this product vs others?: The Gigabyte Aorus line of motherboards gives you a lot of capabilities for the price. I chose the AX Ice to fit my aesthetic requirements and fairly easy of us in the BIOS menus. I do appreciate the large VRMs for cooling and the oversized heatsink plate for adding more than one M.2 SSD. All the connectors I need on the face and more than enough for my needs on the rear IO. Two thumbs up!! *Disclaimer: I bought this motherboard to RMA another one of the same model, due to random LAN Ethernet port needing repair.*

Motherboard works great with the newer Ryzen 7 9700X processor, but a BIOS upgrade might be necessary if the one installed is old. It is possible to update the BIOS of the motherboard without a working processor by using the "Q-Flash Plus" feature and installing a BIOS newer than the F30 version (latest one at the time of writing this is F34g) One other "gotcha" thing to keep in mind is that this MB has 3 NVME slots, and which one to use might not be clear. If you look into the MB manual (session 1-2 "Motherboard Block Diagram"), one should avoid using the M2A_CPU slot if you intend to use an external video card, as that slot shares the PCIe bus with the main PCIe slot. With that the video card would only work with x8 PCIe lanes instead of the x16 that you probably want; so read the external GPU specs to figure out how many lanes it requires (most good ones will require the x16). With Ryzen 7 9700X using the M2B_CPU slot is the better option as that CPU has those PCIe lanes available and these are not shared between the GPU and the NVME SSD. The third slot, M2C_SB, should "just work" with all processors and video card combinations, but it will go through the MB chipset instead of directly connecting to the CPU so performance might not be the best Hope these points could help some people out there that are building a PC with this MB!

4 stars only because mine was shipped with the original BIOS and had to update it myself, BUT QFlash works great. Tons of IO, so many USB ports, plenty of connectivity. Build quality is solid, looks great too. All around solid board.

With so many issues I've had with Asus, gigabytes AM5 motherboards have amazed me! This is the best B650e chipset motherboard I've worked with! It's the most stable I've used, the all white layout is beautiful and the price is amazing considering it's high speed PCIE gen 5 support for GPUs and storage, the VRM heatsinks and VRMs are amazing and help push performance past the limit for better performance and stable at that! The USB support is great with the only thing I'd like to see being more USB-C support but there's plenty support already! I've paired some obscure memory with it that's worked flawlessly! As with AM5, stick to 2 sticks for dual channel memory support. The boot times along with the memory support are some of the best I've seen in the b650 series of motherboards. Great for overclocking and maintaining great system stability! I was able to overclock a Ryzen 9 7900 (non-x) to meet the performance of the 7900X

DO NOT GET THIS MOBO OR ANY GIGABYTE MOBOS!!!!!! I purchased this mobo expecting quality. When initially booting after first build I had tons of issues getting the mobo to work properly. The manual said to install ram in slot A2 for 1 card or A2 and B2 for 2. I tried both with no luck. Through trial and error via hardware experimenting and usb shenanigans I got the pc to boot and worked well for 6 months. Stopped using the PC for a month and come back to DRAM red lights on the mobo and no ability to boot. Troubleshoot via internet for 12+ hours (at this point you might as well get a computer science major) with no luck. Google this mobo with DRAM red light, you will get tons of forums of people not being able to use their builds because of THIS mobo. Trash company, trash product. Please save yourself.

Very happy so far. Board is fast and has shown no hadware or software compatibilty issues for me. However, beware, I am not pushing it hard. It is a desktop office machine, running Ubuntu Linux. Eventally I intend to play Microsoft's flight sim on this board. I will also use it for home and web video editing and GIMP work.
