First, I should say that I'm certainly not any expert about dishware. I'm single and still learning about these things. But I picked up a bit from my mother, growing up, and I've been building a functional kitchen, largely from Amazon, for a few years now. This set is the second of its kind I've bought here. I bought it for the larger bowls, since the first set from Gibson had only small bowls-- of a size probably meant for side dishes or something, but not every-day bowls for soup or breakfast cereal. This set included four pasta bowls, which means a broad, low, large bowl. That's not exactly what I was thinking of. It's fine, too, because they'll come in handy. The other difference between the two sets is another four bowls in a smaller size. They're bigger than garnish bowls but smaller than soup bowls. (There's actually a lot to know about bowls! In a formal place setting, there are probably four or five different bowls used for specific uses.) Between the two sets, I'm set. And Gibson makes very nice dishware. It's something between stoneware (which is supposed to be heavy and durable), and fine China, (which is supposed to be stylish but not as heavy or durable). The ceramic is beautifully made, not a flaw. A wonderful shade of off-white, neither too warm nor too cool, and very versatile. It's worn outstandingly well over time. I have never owned dishes with a rim around them. It really does make getting small foods off the plate easy. They seem to be very well made and good quality. These are a perfect compliment to my modern farmhouse decor.

I’m so pleased with this item and the way it was shipped. I purchased 2 sets and did not have one item broken on arrival. I actually had difficulty unwrapping my dishes due to the quality of wrapping materials used. I highly recommend these dishes fantastic quality.

I shopped around for a new plate set for a couple of weeks.. I literally checked Target, Walmart, BBB, Pottery Barn, and several other trendy stores for a dish set. After seeing these on tik tok, I knew instantly they were exactly what I wanted. They're so sleek and elegant without being too modern or too traditional - the perfect balance! So I had been looking for a dinnerware set that was my exact simplistic style, but also had deep/wide pasta bowls. This set is perfect. Plates with upturned edges, generous cereal bowls, and an even more generous pasta bowl, with clean white ceramic that match perfectly with other white ceramic dishes I have bought to supplement what’s not in this set, like side dish/dessert bowls. The dishes are sturdy, weighted, smooth, and they’re even more satisfying to see in person. Upon receiving my package, the dishes were very well protected. Unfortunately, during my unboxing, I discovered a chipped dinner plate. I’m confident it did not occur in transit, as the dish would’ve been broken or other dishes, affected. Amazon wanted me to return the full set for a replacement and I didn’t want the burden of repacking these precariously packed dishes like Tetris back into its box all over one plate or risk a different issue with the new set. I also couldn’t just ignore a chipped plate in a brand new set. So, I contacted Gibson directly. The customer service there is absolutely amazing. After asking for various details and proof, the company sent me a replacement plate with absolutely no hassle! Now I don’t have to stress that I had three good dinner plates but four of everything else. If you like the set, buy it! You won’t regret it. And if you have an issue with the order, I’m sure Gibson will assist you with no problem if you do not resolve through Amazon. ... show more
