I purchased this net for its reviews and gave it a try. The only reason I bought this net is fishing off the docks in the bay where I live. The compact/fordable is perfect for my needs, once I landed the first shark my thoughts was that it the net was too light and would not hold the weight of the shark (15) pounds later I managed to get the shark on board the deck. Shortly I landed a stripper weigh (8) lbs with no problem. One thing I recommend is not to try to land fish on a 90 degree angle, this will not work, for me... what I had to do was to scoop up the meal/fish and slowly retrieve the net towards the dock (you). Sorta like a tugging motion otherwise the net will not hold the weight of the fish and may break the pole. I learned this the heard way and now,I know that you use commend sense and a bit of skill. Other than the engineering of the net, Its well built and sturdy. The material is non corrosive and works well in all water types including salt water. am definitely buying a second one for my fishing buddy. I recommend this net for any type of fishing, but don't forget to use common sense. Sorry but but I don't have photos this time to submit. Next trip out I will add some photos.

Got it promptly in the mail. I'm using it for crappie fishing . Don't intend on using it for anything but crappie . Like the way it folds up. I think it will work well for my intentions. If you're looking for a heavy duty net . This probably isn't it when it is extended out . Net size is bigger than I thought it would be. When at shortest length it appears to be very sturdy for regular fishing . Not a striper net by any means . Best use for fish less than 5-6 lbs .

The net came in about 10 mins before I was heading to the lake. I opened it up when I got to the boat and the entire concept of it was great! We had a great day and landed 9 northerns total - 3 over 5lbs. My biggest disappointments are the cheap parts... I couldn't slide the net clip down to collapse it because the pole needed to be extended about .5" and screwed down right before the clip had enough room to pull it out, that and the cheap key ring that they put at the base of the net pulled right out. I would order this net again with better quality parts and pay $60-70 for it in a heartbeat. Pros: the concept, very small when storing, lightweight, can handle bigger fish and tiny holes for smaller, price is great. Cons: some parts are very cheap, I don't think I'll get more than 1 season out of it with moderate use. Overall: I'd say a great purchase. I am not disappointed one bit. I feel like If they ever make a better quality net with the same concept, it would be one of the best nets on the market for smaller vessels or fishermen on the banks.

This telescoping 10' plus net does what it advertises as it gives me greater range & reach into the water @ different lengths. It can feel a bit heavy when totally extending & reaching into the water @ max body & net length but I think that's to be expected (although I am "a bigger" guy). This net has an ample opening & a deep net depth for large catches but the net holes are still small enough to catch “little bait fish.” It's not as light as other nets for crabbing or catching small bait fish so your “swiping speed” might be slowed when using it for these purposes. I got another cheaper & lighter net for that. I've read reviews on how to properly use this net so as to not break the net/pole connecting joint & it makes sense. Although it's strong, too much pressure should not be applied to the net/pole connector so use it to support your catch as opposed to using it solely to make your heavier catches. I generally like the construction, durability & practicality of this net and I think I made a great purchase @ $50! My fishing friends have complimented this net as well. I do recommend it considering you know & understand what it is.

This is a keeper for someone who wants a nicely built net whose handle telescopes out to reach for fish, chickens or even frogs that are within its >8.5 feet of reach. |If you use some common sense bringing in your catch, you can safely land a 10 to 20 lb fish. If you don't use common sense, you can break the net/pole with just a 5 lb. fish, and blame the net, and not yourself for such failure. So, when you get a fish within the net, bring the net and fish closer to you by pulling the long handle backwards, keeping the net and the heavy fish in the water, until the fish/net are close to you, rather than trying to lift your catch out of the water when it's furthest away from you. That's just putting less stress on the long handle. The net is far bigger, wider and longer than I expected, and that's a good thing for a fisherman. I bought this for its long reach and telescoping down, to easily transport and store it. There are tradeoffs in having a telescoping and folding net, rather than a long, solid aluminum or steel handled net. Your choice. To pack up the net, the net collapses by pushing on the plastic button at its base, and folding the net up. Then telescope the long handle to shorten it. Easy-peasy. Treat the net with respect, and it could last a few years, depending on your use and talents as a fisherman and net user!

Really liked it for 5 minutes: extends really far, folds nicely for storage, corners on net make it great to get into tight spots. Kind of liked it after the first: not always easy to extent or lock length, sand is its enemy, some time the net would hyper extend, flexed a lot when full extended to the point that it started to permanently bend. Used less after the second time: net snapped from the pole, cheap plastic with no metal supporting it within where the net connects to the pole. If you’re looking to land minnows and not scoop head into the water you might be fine. If you’re using it for another practical purpose avoid it!

The second time we used it it fell apart. The plastic locks that tighten down the tubes are only glued to the tubes. They seem to be as strong as you would imagine plastic glued to painted aluminum can be. If you twist it too hard or push or pull on it with some force - it will fail. There should have been something there to prevent that. Something more than the kind of glue you use with a heat gun for random home made crafts. Our problem came from the second lock on the pole. There is a design issue there that created a point failure for us. The second link in the pole is about the same length as the first that it collapses into. The problem is that the locking mechanism is glued onto about an inch if the second tube. The result is that when you push the second tube into the bottom tube you slam the locking mechanism against the thicker tube below it. Since the locking mechanism is only glued to the tube that glue gave way and the lock slipped off the tube. In addition to that there is almost nothing preventing the tube from coming all the way out. So the second lock comes off when you slam it into the bottom tube and next time you need to extend the handle there is almost nothing stopping it from coming all the way out. My solution to this was to drill a small hole below the lock of the second link and put a little nail in it. I can no longer collapse that section but it also doesn't come apart any more.
