I've been a loyal D'Addario EXL-170 user for decades. They've always felt and sounded great, while lasting a long time. I had a wild hair to try something else and, after reading reviews, decided to give these Boomers a try. I'm really liking them! They feel very similar to the D'Addarios, maybe slightly stiffer. The sound is really the best part. The mids are so rich and meaty! I'm really diggin' them. If they last as long as the D'Addarios, I'll be a complete convert. Update: Two years and a couple dozen gigs later, the strings are still on the bass (I lucked into body chemistry that doesn't kill strings) . They've settled in nicely and continue to provide great sound and feel. I alternate between two identical (except color) basses, one with these Boomers and one with D'Addario EXL170. The "Ds" have a brighter top and more "clang" in the high-mids. The GHS have a more subdued top and a richer mid-range, especially the lower mids. Slappers might like the "Ds" a bit better, but for me, who plays fingerstyle and palm muted picking, GHS takes the win. ... show more

Have been playing GHS on/off for sometime, they work well, have good longevity and sound good. My only down side is I wish the low "E" string was a bit small in diameter. maybe .095- The perfect set for me size wise is- .095-.080-.065.-050. GHS give U a good bang for your buck, give them a try.

I've used GHS bass boomers for over 30 years.I have tried other brands but none give me the sound and feel of GHS.I would recommend these strings to anyone from just starting out to the seasoned pro.

Ever since I was offered this brand when buying strings at a music shop, I've found them to be the best bass strings I've ever used. They have an extremely bright sound that resonates strongly and lasts a bit longer than others. If you play metal or punk rock, you're going to love how strong the sound is. If you play funk or do anything with slap bass as well, these will be an absolute godsend - they are the best strings I've ever used for slapping and popping. Of course, these are round-wounds. Round-wound strings are bright in general, so if you're looking for a more mellow tone or you don't want to build up the callouses to play these strings, you're going to want flat-wound strings instead. ... show more
