I moved up to the mediums #M3045 and they are the perfect tension for rock type music. I like to finger pluck a higher tensioned string, and if you investigate their tension charts, this M3045 set has one of the highest tension ratings for a medium gage roundwounds (before you start going up into the heavy gage .110s and high tension flats) They are not super twangy bright like some stainless steel strings, this nickel is just the right sound. you can roll on/off your tone knob to get exactly what you need! Great price for a classic string set. These are my first set of Boomers in at least a decade or more, they really are great strings and made right here in the USA. Having played flats for several years, these have a bit more tension than other rounds which i like, you can set your action very low without fret buzz. In addition the highs are much more subdued, even right out of the package and you don't have to wait for the twangy brittle zing to go away. As they break in, the lower mids become more pronounced, they have a nice warm sound but still retain enough on an "edge" to cut. ... show more

I’m a huge fan of strings on the more pricier side like DR, Sadowsky, and higher end GHS strings, but this hex-core Bass Boomer set is one of my staples for excellent no-frills tone! The A D and G strings are working great. The E string kept going out of tune at a gig. Then I noticed a few days later that it loss all its brightness, it played and sounded like it was 3 years old. I only had the strings on my bass for about 10 days.
