Extract: if you want to connect them to 5Ghz band, make sure your phone is connected to Ghz band. Details: I am still testing these. They are fairly new and it is strange that they are not being offered in the ghome website yet.. perhaps they want to see how they perform. I am not giving five stars because there is a lack of clear directions to connect them to 5Ghz band, at least for routers that have dual bands (2.4 and 5 ghz). Some routers have only one band, but mine offers the two separate bands, so I can choose which one wants for each device. The older 2.4 ghz band is limited to 32 devices, but the the more you have, the more congested the network and the more prone to momentary connection failures.That is why I wanted to try these guys which can be manage with Gosund app that I am used to (it appears is the same company as ghome). The tiny instruction manual offered connecting through Alexa app as a first option, but I wanted to set it through Gosund app rather than Alexa, which feels too intrusive for me. Through Gosund app, y first plug only offered me the option of connecting to 2.4 ghz, Which I did. Then later I made sure my phone was connected to the 5 Ghz band and then the Gosund app showed the option to connect this smart plug to that band. Great. I will update this review in a couple days, once I have tested the other two smart plugs of the package.

I love these things! I had two mechanical timers for my bird cage lights that needed to be manually set, and had a real annoying series of switches to set each time, they tended to go on and off at different times, and daylight savings time was a problem. These, however, are so easy to set! In fact, since they are set with the phone app, they probably won't ever need to be tinkered with unless something breaks or there is a wifi issue. The small profile is definitely appreciated too.

The install was easy. Works on my mixed band router signal (2.4 & 5 GHz). They all picked the 2.4 band. I liked that I did not have to install a separate wifi extender to put out a separate 2.4 GHz band. I installed 8 of these plugs was easy using the “Manual” install option by choosing the photo that matched the smart plug. I especially liked the option to schedule my lights to either turn On/Off at regular times or when we are on vacation to turn On/Off randomly.

I bought these for one reason: so that I could control my lights with the astronomical timer, which is controlled by the Gosund app that they use, so that the lamps go on at sunset. Says the location is not available and won't allow me to enter it manually there. I spent hours looking online for solutions, no luck. Finally stumbled on video of different model of plug from same company, using Smart Life app. I tried it and it now works. Why does it have to be so hard??? Instructions that came with the plugs suggested Gosund app but didn't suggest this app at all. Would give 5 stars with better instructions.
