The media could not be loaded. Overall: When it comes to safes, I think a decent safe for a good price is a good enough solution. If you are hoping to have this safe be unbeatable, you may want to consider a different option. If you are considering this safe, mounted against a wall somewhere for tax documents, gold, watches, and/or quite a few handguns then this safe is good enough for most applications - decent security, good looking, easy to use. Normally I’d have given this a 4-star rating, but customer service was very responsive in solving the small issues I had upon receiving the safe. So the combination of a good safe for a good price with good customer service earns it the 5-star. The details: When I first received the safe, I was really impressed with how it was packaged. The shipping materials were plenty strong enough with plastic corners and thick styrofoam overlays. There was no damage from normal shipping operations. The exterior looks really nice and the access ports to the key slots are easy to access but clean looking when covered. In order to access them you lightly push on the bottom portion of the cover and then pull it off - they have small magnet mounts to keep them attached (see image). With other safes I have seen there is no external method to power the lock in case of a dead battery situation AND you don’t have access to the keys. This safe comes with an external battery pack that can be used as an extra fail safe measure. I will likely never have to use this technique but in a pinch I could see this design being very useful. The safe comes with integrated battery powered LEDs that activate once the code is input that dimly illuminates each of the cavities - I thought it was kind of a nice touch. Things to consider: The safe has mounting holes on the back side of the safe that are covered by felt. You can easily punch through those and mount the safe against a wall. The only concern you may run into is the spacing between the holes - typical american framing is 16” on center. This safe has mounting holes spaced 9 ⅜” apart. So if you’re mounting it to concrete, brick, or solid wood, then it’s not an issue, but you may need a spanning board if you want to mount it in a typical American house. The safe doors are heavy enough that with an empty safe and both doors open - if the safe is not mounted against a wall - it may tip forward a bit. Mounting this with one screw against a wall will prevent this. The internal shelves can be removed but cannot be adjusted. The shelves are made of fairly thin sheet metal, but would probably be strong enough to handle anything you can reasonably fit in the safe. The lock/unlock ring is made from plastic. This might produce a little heartburn for some, but it also might be considered a safety feature because the unlocking ring will certainly break before an intruder is able to leverage it against the lock. Either way, something to keep in mind when purchasing this safe. When I first used the safe, I found that the lock was not engaging on the top door. I removed the door cover on the back and discovered the locking pin was not quite reaching the locking bar assembly. I simply loosened that assembly and moved it in line with the locking bar assembly (see image). I presume it must have dropped slightly during shipping. Customer service was very responsive in helping me. This issue was not a major problem for me because it was a very simple fix, but still something to keep in mind when purchasing. ... show more

I like this fireproof safe. Because I can open it easily. Yet I have a complex. Combination to get into it. Plus if I forget the combination I have a key,which makes it better. So, for those if you who have memory loss, this is a very good safe. Also, it came with a zipper bag. Would you can put items that require extra concealment? And that is a plus would. Surprising amount of room, except the small storage section is a little challenging to get a lot into it. The doors item nice and wide, but the metal is kind of flimsy. As with the gun safe I purchased, I haven't been able to reset the combination.. there is supposedly a red button on the inside of the door..but I can't find it! ... show more

I liked this safe- I had originally bought a 2.9 c sq ft one from another manufacture that wasn't large enough. I didn't want to go up to 6 c sq ft as I thought it might be too big, but it was perfect. Good weight, packed well, easy set up. Hint, to remove the oval gray plastic key hole covers gently push at the bottom of them and the top will pop out for easy removal. You're welcome. When both doors are open it does present a tipping hazard, but as long as you're aware and keep small kids and pets away and don't let them play on or around it you should be fine. It also comes with anchors to mount into the wall, so if you do have children, it would be good to utilize that feature. ... show more

    • A Hilariously Ineffective Fortress of Folly!
Hold onto your valuables, folks, because GHJGAGE 1.6 Home Safe is here to give you a false sense of security like never before! If you're in the market for a safe that could make a burglar laugh uncontrollably, look no further. Let's start with the design. I must admit, this safe managed to accomplish the unthinkable: it made me nostalgic for the era of VCRs and shoulder pads. With its clunky, outdated appearance, it practically screams, "Hey, thieves! Look at me! I'm the easiest target in the neighborhood!" Who needs a state-of-the-art, sleek safe when you can have a relic from a bygone era? Now, let's move on to the security features. Or should I say lack thereof? Opening this "fortress" was about as challenging as solving a children's puzzle made for toddlers. Seriously, I've seen more secure piggy banks in preschool classrooms. I half expected the safe to come with a neon sign saying, "Please, take what you want and have a good laugh while you're at it!" But wait, there's more! The so-called "advanced locking mechanism" is nothing short of a comedy act. I've had more trouble opening a jar of pickles than cracking this safe's code. I suspect that a determined toddler armed with a plastic toy hammer could break into it within minutes. And let's not forget the fire and water resistance claims. I wouldn't trust this safe to protect a bag of marshmallows from a drizzle, let alone my precious documents or jewelry. It's like they coated it in tissue paper and called it a day. All in all, if you're in the market for a good laugh and a reminder that nothing in life is truly secure, GHJGAGE 1.6 Home Safe is the perfect investment. The safe arrived in good condition. It was easy to setup. It is worth about half of the price. If you tap on the side of the safe it sounds like a cheap file cabinet. You could take a hole saw and cut a hole in the side very easily. So far doors lock and open fine.
