Wow - this is a serious hair care tool and I honestly think it is the best flat iron there is as of 2026. This ghd Sculpt Interactive Hair Straightener heats up incredibly quickly and although I was initially extremely skeptical of the AI temperature settings given that I have very thick and curly hair, my hair looked better than when I’ve used other straighteners and decades of my own best judgement on how high to set the temperature. I’m still shocked that I could go from spending about 35 minutes routinely when straightening my hair with other tools to just 20 minutes with this. My hair which curls and frizzes makes styling tricky and honestly a bit tiring to the point I sometimes have to wash it and use curl cream rather than attempt to get a second day curly look out of it. When straightened, it tends to poof out on the second day unless I touch it up and add extra thermal protection. So you can imagine my surprise when I straightened my hair at night planning to touch it up in the morning like I do with literally every other flat iron I’ve used and secured my hair in a wrap. I woke up and was stunned to see it was still straight and smooth (saved me another solid five minutes right there). I feel like it has to be because the perfect temperature was used when I used the flat iron. I’ve never had that happen. I love that this has such a gorgeous and well thought out design. It’s super lightweight, the plates don’t trap my hair (low bar, I know, but there are still hair grabbing straighteners out there today!), it’s super easy to use with just a single long press and about 20 seconds to get going. Despite being lightweight, it’s well constructed and I think it should be durable. The white color is especially gorgeous in my opinion and it’s also easy to keep clean. In a nutshell, I love everything about this hair straightener.

Review of ghd Sculpt Interactive Hair Straightener – Heat-Adapt Technology, Super Slim (White) I am impressed, and very pleased with the Sculpt by ghd. After several uses, I’m writing this review to share my experience and observations, and the basic facts about the device, as well as a few points the brand makes about the Sculpt’s performance. How the Sculpt came to be, in the evolution of hair straighteners, is more than just an AI tagline, in my opinion, it furthers ghd’s commitment to providing excellence in haircare using both sensible and state of the art, cutting-edge design. Though technically a hair straightener, it’s ultra-thin. 1” design and waterfall edges makes this a perfect curling device too, capable of either simple or sculptural curls! This is AI-powered. It uses a machine-learning algorithm to measure hair temperature, then adjusts heat while styling. The plates contain four measurement systems that feed an AI microprocessor with 2,900 updates per second, detecting how much hair is being styled and the speed, and angle of movement. A thermal controller then interprets the output, increasing or reducing heat and power. The maximum plate temperature of the ghd Sculpt straightener is 185°C (365°F), which is designed to style hair without causing damage. The cantilever style hinge allows for easier handling and maneuverability, making it more comfortable to use. After many uses, I think this part of the product design might also contribute to enhancing the straightener’s ability to reach different angles and sections of the hair effectively. I know that together with the device’s other innovative features, using my new Sculpt is easier, and more fun, (not in a frivolous way, but carefree in spirit,) than any other straightener I’ve owned! The build quality, a ghd trademark, is exceptional. A single on/off button controls this device. Everything rest is enabled automatically by the tech. It adapts to my hair immediately. Styling is simple, and fast. My Type 2B, color treated (bleach blonde) mid-length dry hair comes to life, precisely, in my favorite style, not quite stick-straight, but exceedingly smoothed, with no remaining trace of it’s natural waves. The results reveal both a healthy shine and excellent hold. As part of my styling regimen, I use a heat-protective product with the Sculpt, as I do with any heated styling device. What ghd says about this model’s abilities & features: • Zero damage • Up to 90% more shine Vs naturally dried medium brown hair • 2.5x less frizz Vs naturally dried frizzy hair • Superior curl definition Vs ghd Chronos • Style up to 5x faster Vs ghd Original. Technical test in lab shows ghd Sculpt is 5X faster to achieve same high level of frizz reduction on frizzy tresses Does the Sculpt Deliver? My opinion: I think the combination of the narrow infinity plates with the waterfall edges is sublime. It allows me to get my hair styled starting in the difficult to reach root area, and has excellent slip, with absolutely snag-less, tug-free styling as I guide it down to the ends. Heat time, as advertised, is 20-seconds. The sound enabled on/off button and “Halo ring” at the base of the cord helps guide me as to the device’s status. Complete cool down takes about 5-minutes. The new heating style, AI enabled, is intuitive and takes care of my hair’s wellness and styling needs without fuss, frizz or damage. The process that used to take far longer, has been reduced to a more manageable timeframe, taking under 20-minutes, better fitting into my lifestyle. I dislike using unwieldy devices, but this one combines a perfect 1-pound weight with excellent balance, providing comfortable ergonomics. The cantilever style hinge supplies perfect tension to the plates. I really admire the lack of complicated control panel buttons. With this one, a single on/off button triggers the entire styling process, making life a little simpler. I can’t speak to long term damage, but compared to other similar devices I’ve used over the years, I haven’t seen or felt any excessive heat on my hair, or noticed any damage as a result of using the Sculpt. Based on a few times when I had heat damage, that is something that can’t be missed. Had it happened thus far, I would know. The name, Sculpt, is both a testament to the design, practically a piece of art, as well as it’s ability to style hair precisely to create beautiful straightened hair, or either simple or structural curls. What could be improved: • I adore the elegant ribbon pull on the outer box, but instead, a clear sticker over the seam gap would have kept it closed prior to arrival. My Sculpt arrived outside of it’s pretty presentation box, and having tumbled out, it fell loosely into the shipping carton. Perhaps this might not seem like a big deal, however, at first glance, I was concerned about potential damage to my new styling tool. • Like my last observation, I feel some regret saying this, but for this there’s no easy solution. A heat-resistant mat is necessary because of the Sculpt’s waterfall edge and comfy ergonomic design doesn’t allow the Sculpt to rest steadily on it’s cool zones that might be safe enough for many countertops. I’m using my mat, but wish there was a way a sort of stabilizer or stand was a part of the overall design so I could eliminate traveling with a mat. • The wall plug is attractive, but its size might conflict with outlets, depending on how hight they’re placed above wall trim elements or countertop splashes. I am genuinely so impressed with this straightener. My hair is only beginning to grow back, so it is still very short in some areas and feels much more delicate than the hair I had before. I was especially nervous about using heat on it and wondered whether I would even be able to reach the shorter sections in the back. This works beautifully! I've been using it without a heat protectant and, so far, I have not noticed any damage to my hair. I also love that I don't have to choose or adjust a temperature setting. My new growth has also come in much curlier than my hair used to be, so keeping it straight has been a challenge. With previous straighteners, I could spend a long time on my hair in the morning, need another touch-up later in the day, and then wake up to frizz again the following morning. With this one, straightening took me less than half the time I was used to, and I never had to go back over it later. What really surprised me was the next morning. My hair was still straight. Zero frizz, smooth, and no need to straighten it all over again. That alone impressed me enormously. The slim design also makes it much easier for me to work with all the different lengths of my hair right now. If you fight curls or frizz and normally spend a lot of time straightening and touching up your hair, this is a very impressive tool. I have used a lot of straighteners over the years, and this is easily the most effective one I have personally used.

I have worked in the high-end haircare industry for more than a decade, including both luxury retail and behind-the-scenes work in the manufacturing side of the business. I am not a licensed hairstylist, but I have extensive experience with professional haircare products, styling tools, extensions, and how these products are designed and made. I’ve also used professional-quality styling tools for many years, so I was very excited to put this one through a real-world test. After three uses, I am genuinely impressed with this flat iron. The heat-up time is incredible. It is ready to use in seconds. I could barely section off the top half of my hair before it was heated and ready to go. The glide is probably the first thing I noticed once I started using it. I have a lot of fine hair and it is heavily highlighted blonde, so I am very careful with heat styling and always use a thermal protectant. This glided through my hair like butter. No snagging, no pulling, and the plates moved through my hair incredibly smoothly. I also really like the design of the edges. I can get very close to my roots without feeling like I’m going to burn my forehead, which makes it much easier to get a really smooth finish. For my before-and-after photos, I blow-dried my hair in the morning, spent part of the day working outside, and then flat-ironed it in the afternoon. The results were dramatic. It straightened my hair extremely quickly and left it very smooth. I’ve also used it twice before work on extremely hot, humid days, and this is where I became even more impressed. My hair stayed remarkably straight throughout the day. Anyone with fine hair knows that getting it straight is one thing; keeping it straight in humidity is another. I also tested it on a small section of hair to see how it handled curling. I have never been particularly good at curling my hair with a flat iron, and my hair doesn’t naturally hold a curl very well. I was surprised by how easily I was able to create a curl with this. The rounded edges definitely made that technique easier for me. I only tested a small section, so I don’t have before-and-after photos for that part, but the result was very good. One thing I noticed with my very fine baby-blonde hairs is that because this tool gets hot and smooths so efficiently, some of those tiny hairs around my hairline can stand out a little more. That’s more of a personal observation with my hair than a flaw with the tool, but it is worth mentioning for anyone with very fine hair. Overall, this is an exceptionally well-designed and high-performing flat iron. It heats up incredibly quickly, glides beautifully without snagging, gets close to the roots, straightens hair very efficiently, and can also be used to create curls and waves. After three uses, I can absolutely see why this is positioned as a professional-level styling tool. As someone who has spent many years around high-end haircare and professional tools, I am genuinely impressed with how well this one performs. And yes, I am fully aware my hair needs a haircut. 😂 We are reviewing the flat iron today, not my split ends. I have fine but thick hair so heat damages it more easily than coarser hair, even though there is a lot of hair to get through. That is why I was interested in this straightener. It is slim and easy to handle, and the plates get close to the root without feeling bulky. I have used it both to straighten and to add waves and curls. There are no heat settings to choose. You turn it on and style, and the Heat-Adapt system adjusts as you go. I looked into how that works. The tool takes about 2,900 measurements a second, looking at things like how much hair is between the plates and how fast you are moving, then it changes the heat in real time. For me, that matters. A thinner section or the finer pieces around my face do not need the same heat as a bigger section, and fine hair is easy to overdo. I like that I can work through a lot of hair and switch between a sleek finish and a curled or wavy look without guessing at a temperature the whole time. The tool is doing the adjusting in the background so I can just style as usual. It also heats up fast—ready in about 20 seconds—so I am not standing there waiting before I start.

UPDATE: after straightening my hair in the evening, then going to bed for a full night's sleep, I was shocked to wake up the next morning with pin-straight hair! This is a first for me....usually the next day needs it's own touch up!! WOWZA! This is the absolute coolest hair straightener I have ever used! It is such high-tech and premium quality! This is a well engineered unit with even the smallest details covered like the free floating cord and the tune that is played when it is officially turned on (or off) or the safety bumps on both sides to remind you not to choke up further on the handle near the plates. This is amazingly fast to heat up. It literally does so in 20 seconds, so don't be touching the plates or you'll be sorry! This straightener has a maximum temperature of 365°F. There is NO temperature settings on this, and you can't manually adjust the heat level yourself. Instead, the Heat-Adapt technology uses AI to automatically adjust the temperature in real time based on your personal hair type and texture, how much hair you're styling (hair load), your styling speed and angle. It actually delivers more heat when you need it for thicker or curlier hair, and less when styling finer sections. You don't need to do or think about anything except styling your hair. It measures four things: how much hair is between the plates, when hair enters the plates, how quickly you're moving the iron, and the angle you're holding it. It then applies more or less heat as needed. This is a true interactive tool. I would still however, use a heat protector when using any heating tools and would try to stick to one pass verses multiple passes with any straightener. The price is high for this, but you really do get what you pay for and in my opinion, this is a premium straightener that will help to minimize heat damage, so I feel it is a luxury item worth investing in.
