I am writing this as our 2nd replacement is making a noise so bad, we unplugged it. Love the ice it makes, but these are straight junk. Initial unit made a 95 db compressor malfunction noise after 2 weeks. Contacted support, jumped through all the hoops, had a replacement sent. Put water in it, and it all dumped out. The top cover was cracked, had a manufacture date of 2023. It was clearly a used unit. Did the same process to get another unit, asked for a new unit, not a used one. Replacement came with the exact same manufacture date, worked for 3 weeks and is now making a suction noise for the 3rd time, probably 75 db. I feel I should contact my lawyer and make a case for pain and suffering lol What a pile of junk and a waste of my time. I will be contacting support yet again, this time I am getting my money back. This is a $400 ice maker, I bought this instead of cheaper options. It would not let me pick 0 stars for this review. DO NOT BUY THIS ICE MAKER

I've had this thing on my counter for about a year now and it is fantastic. Others might complain a bit about it being noisy, but I'm deaf in one ear anyway so it doesn't bother me a bit. Keep the water tray full and you'll have plenty of ice on hand for everyday use. If you host Super Bowl parties, or Tupperware sales parties, it won't keep up, but it's great for everyday usage. I park mine right next to the sink and use the sprayer to fill the unit. It takes 10 seconds. there have been 3-4 occasions where it stopped making ice for some reason but unplugging it and plugging it back in, took care of it instantly. If it failed completely tomorrow, I'd buy another one. In fact, I did buy one for my Dad and he's just as happy. If you're an ice chomper, don't hesitate!

Great customer service. I had an issue with my ice maker where I had a leak. They promptly corrected this and sent me a new ice maker! They were quick to respond and take care of my issue. Ice maker itself is wonderful. Makes my favorite crunchy ice!

This machine is absolute trash—clearly designed by someone who put no real thought into how people actually use it. I have mine connected directly to a water line, so it should have an unlimited supply of water. Yet, if it happens to run out of water while the door is closed, it won’t automatically refill. Instead, the only way to get it going again is to physically open and close the door, which then triggers it to refill and start making ice. This is a serious design flaw. The entire purpose of connecting a machine like this to a water line is so you don’t have to worry about it running dry. Because of this oversight, the ice maker is almost always empty right when we need ice the most. It completely defeats the purpose of having a dedicated ice machine in the first place. Bottom line: I would strongly advise against purchasing this unit. Save yourself the frustration and look for a machine that’s designed with even the most basic level of common sense. This one is nothing more than an expensive, poorly engineered hunk of junk.

Loved the ice from our Opal, but it was so finicky I wanted to try something else when it died after about 14 months. Several places in the manual, it warns about not turning it on until it’s been set upright for at least two hours. In one place, it mentions that it should never be tipped upside down at the risk of damaging the compressor. There is nothing on the outer box indicating which way is up, so who knows how it may have traveled on the Amazon truck. Hopefully that warning doesn’t apply to first use. It's quieter than some other countertop ice makers I’ve tried. And it only runs while actively making ice. It stops making ice when full or when out of water and only starts again when the door is opened and closed. There are slots in the bin to recycle the melted ice. Drawbacks: Ice nuggets are a little more cylindrical and crunchier and larger than Opal nuggets. My family likes it, but they prefer the chewier Opal ice. It’s hard to know where the water fill line is. The internals are black and there is no light inside, so I wound up sticking my finger in to feel for the water level. If you happen to pour water directly on the hinge area, it will spill out onto the counter. But you only do that once. The Opal side tank is much more convenient than filling the inner reservoir (but this one has the option of a water line hookup without adding extra floats and stuff.) The way the bin slides out and sits level on the door makes it tricky to get ice out with the scoop without spilling. I suppose that’s a skill issue, but I wound up using a measuring scoop instead. The flat black top surface seems to scuff easily. Ultimately, while there’s so far nothing really wrong with it, family is not happy with this after using the Opal. Much more expensive, but I’m going to try the Brio dispenser next.

I love this ice! The machine is much quieter than another brand I had, and it makes ice wuickly. I did have a problem with the first Gevi I purchased, but their warranty service promptly replaced it and I was up and going with my new machine within a few days!! I'm very satisfied with this ice maker and with Gevi! Highly recommend!
