I initially tried it at my friend's place and the simplicity, good price range and the taste of coffee made me purchase one for myself. Very easy to use and priced reasonably (some others would be 2-3 times more expensive for the same function). It looks sturdy and elegant and blends well in the kitchen. I would strongly recommend this for any espresso lover that is looking for a well priced machine that still produces great coffee. For the pricepoint, there are some things to love about this machine. First, this machine is well-constructed. It has a metal exterior and looks much nicer on the counter than the plastic-built units you can find around this price, so that's a big plus. I also really enjoy being able to pull whatever size shot I like, the downside of which being that you have to manually stop the shot. This is okay for me since I have some experiece with espresso, but for a new user or busy multitasker, it might be better to get a machine that stops your shot for you. Another plus is that I can get a crema from this machine - I do believe it has a pressurized portafilter which sort of helps develop crema, especially if you are using pre-ground coffee, so in that regard it is good for someone like me who likes to switch between fresh and pre-ground coffee. Some things are sort of "meh" in a way that is typical at this price range too. The brew temp is a bit cold, but it is better than the cheap walmart machine that I had before this one. Typical brew temp for espresso should be around 200 degrees F, and this runs between 175-185 degrees depending on how long you let it warm up. You might be able to get a hotter brew by switching from the steam setting to brew setting, and even though I think I get a hotter brew this way, I haven't actually taken the temperature. Another typical but "meh" thing about this machine is the small basket - it is a 51mm basket, and I do wish it was a bit larger (I always do though!). There are some things I don't like either, like the steam wand. I can not for the life of me get this to steam milk properly. I end up with a very watered-down milk with very little foam, and the rigidity of the wand makes it had to get the proper angle to vortex the milk. On top of that, it makes a horrible screech. I personally have a countertop automatic frother so the steam wand isn't such a big issue for me, but I know it could be for many other people, especially the issue with it watering down milk. Another thing I miss with this machine is pre-infusion, mostly just because even my walmart machine had it and I was surprised to see it absent here. You may be thinking that I have a lot of criticisms for a 4 star rating (truthfully, I'd probably give this more like a 3.5), but that is becasue my rating aligns with my expectations for the price. This is a well-built machine and you can get a much better-tasting espresso from this than I've had from machines at similar pricepoints. It is a fairly pleasant flavor and less acidic, albeit not very strong or robust. This is by no means going to give you cafe-quality shots, but for me (I only have milk drinks, no straight espresso) I find it adequate for now until I have the money to upgrade, especially since I have a countertop frother, which I would highly recommend to someone looking into this machine. The biggest thing is to ask yourself if the features you're missing with this machine are things you can live with and to balance your expectations with what you are willing to pay for a machine. ... show more

    • New to the art of coffee
I am a newbie to the art of creating the perfect cup of joe, but this has been a great starter espresso machine. The machine itself is a high quality piece of equipment and is made from well-constructed metal that looks beautiful in our kitchen. The brewing temperature on this espresso machine is a bit under 200 degrees, which at this price point is actually quite good. I did notice that if you let the espresso machine warm up a bit before using it, you will get better heat results. The water reservoir is super easy to fill, you can either remove the whole reservoir and fill it at your sink or just open the lid and pour water in. The steam wand is a hit or miss, sometimes is does its job great, other times not so much. Maybe it is because I am new to the espresso machine world, but it seems to be a reoccurring trend when I am using it. The machine is somewhat loud as well, compared to other models I have tested. But overall, for the price and weighting the pros and cons of the unit, it truly is a great starter espresso maker. ... show more

I have the single shot As you can see from my not-so-professional video - I use this a lot Likes 👍 The water reservoir Easy to fill - Either remove the whole unit or just lift the lid Also made it easier to clean Heated top for cup ☕ Having the top heat my cup was a nice feature as my house can be quite cold in the early morning hours when I get up The removable base for easy cleaning The large and easy-to-use dial to switch from brewing to frothing - click over then push the button The retractable frothing arm 👎 Not really enchanted with You can not use standard coffee cups under the brewer This does release pressure after you finish brewing - as you can see in the video The frother heats up a bit slow at times Overall I really like this I actually use it instead of my previous machine A small tip - when you use the frother let it run for a bit as it does take some time to go from water to steam ... show more
