  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good for the at-home barista... 👌
The media could not be loaded. I used to be a barista for 5 years, and considered myself to be knowledgeable about top-of-the-line technique and flavor. I’ve had this machine for two days, and it’s taken me about 5 lattes to get it figured out, and to get the plastic/machine taste out of the system. (I do worry about the possibility of BPA’s, but I’m going to check in the Q&A’s about that.) I thought that this wasn’t going to work for me, but on the 4th latte, I was shocked to get a truly decent result. It’s important to get the espresso grind and tamp pressure dialed in if you want a thick, rich espresso shot. It’s a bit hard to brush the excess grinds off the edge of the portafilter because it spins around, but it’s important to make sure the edge is totally clean, otherwise it will leak during the brew. The steam pressure for milk frothing is very limited, you have just enough time to get the milk up to temp before you run out of steam. But I think those are my only criticisms of the machine, considering how inexpensive it is! I’m quite impressed. I feel confident at this point to serve a shot or a latte to one of my barista friends. Haven’t tried a cappuccino yet, so I’m not sure if you can get that much foam with it, and it takes a bit to heat up if you did it in a few foaming sessions. But it really doesn’t take that long to reheat! Also haven’t tried an americano yet. Overall, quite pleased. May revisit this review after having the machine for awhile. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars All Manual, but makes great expresso, latte.
I purchased the machine in Dec2020 so have had it over 1.5 years of almost daily use and it works flawlessly. My friends can't believe it makes drinks equal to or better than their $1000 machines. Yes it is all manual. I have to use my grinder and be precise on how long to grind the beans. There is no auto shut-off or anything else automatic. The only downside is the steam frother even (though it works just as well as the ones on the expensive machines). I don't care for all of the purging and mess and prefer to use my Nespresso electric milk frother as it can do cold as well as hot froth. Oh, and you have to dump it after every use but the expensive machines all have to be cleaned out too. All in all - It works great and I'm very satisfied with it. For under $100 when it quits working, toss it and get another. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great inexpensive option
I have had this for a few weeks now and it's a great inexpensive espresso machine. The instructions are a little confusing, but I figured them out. Here are a few things that I've noticed about it. It's also a little difficult to tell when the frothing button is on or off. Once you get into a routine of how you make your drink though, it's fine! This doesn't measure the water and stop on its own. This is completely manual, so do not push the button and walk away, unless you like to clean up coffee. And, with the milk frother, you will want a cup or container that is a smaller diameter, so that the frothing arm will reach down into it for the amount of milk you need for a cup or two of latte. Otherwise, you will waste a lot of milk. Other than those things, I think it's a pretty great machine that will save you from buying $7 lattes at a coffee shop. Oh, and I didn't mention the flavor - it's makes a great espresso! ... show more

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars Purchased 8/6/2020 died 10/19/2022
I decided to treat myself to an upgrade from a Mr. Coffee Espresso machine during the pandemic. I'm a light user I go through phases of making mochas, sometimes everyday for a few weeks and then I may go without for a few months. I had this machine just over 2 years and 2 months. I'd say it had light use and was probably unused for a total of 8 months that I had it. Yesterday the water tank inside the machine apparently cracked. I didn't know it when I used the machine for the last mocha, but several hours later I noticed I had water all over my counter where I keep the machine. I sat it in a tray and added water to the tank, I didn't plug it in I just let it sit for 20 minutes and sure enough the tray was full of water when I checked it. So if you're buying this one, if you're a heavy user I wouldn't expect more than a year out of it and if you're an occasional user you probably won't get more than 2 years. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Lloovveeee coffee lover right here..
The media could not be loaded. Love my new espresso machine its amazing and extremely easy to use.. they don't say this but here are the steps... add water in the back plug it up remove the part that the coffee goes inside turn the machine on put the coffee in the small coffee holder not sure what its called lol... put the coffee handle holder in and press the espresso button do not walk away the coffee will not stop you need to press the espresso button to stop the flow.. when removing the cup have a spare cup because a few drips will continue falling... if you want foam do not turn off the machine just press foam button once the green light is on turn the nob on the side all the way while you have the milk ready do not let the steam hit you please be careful.. you will get foam and warm cream for the coffee.... once you remove the cup from the foam clean with a wet rag and enjoy I hope this helps because I could not figure it out for 30 min lol enjoy and have he best cup of espresso... ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Not real espresso
I guess for $100 you cannot expect much. This machine basically compresses the coffee through what we used to call a pressurized porta filter. No matter the grind, the roast, it barely pulls a shot for about 1 second, then blondes (actually whites) immediately. I’ve been roasting coffee and pulling shots on real machines for decades. This was an addition to an office and I was very disappointed in the advertisement and video that makes this out to be what it’s not. Probably could have gone with a cheap Walmart mr. coffee machine and gotten better results. On a positive note, the temp regulating feature between the steam and and group head is a great idea and works well. If you normally drink instant coffee, this will be nice for you, but if you are anywhere near a coffee snob, you probably know better than I did for falling for this. ... show more
