  • How can attaching a gas cap be so difficult? Good cap; weird tether clip...shane on Honda.
This cap works well as a gas cap. Unfortunately, Honda ties the gas cap tether to the car with a weird "cap clip" that seems impossible to remove without destroying it, or perhaps scratching your Honda's paint. Despite Amazon reviewers' efforts to help with pictures and exotic descriptions, it remains a mystery as how to remove and replace this "clip". I assume the dealer just destroys the one in place and uses a new one.....cost? 46 cents (hypothetically) from the dealer (Clip, Filler Cap 91594-SNA-A01) I think of myself as a pretty adept shade tree mechanic, and I had to destroy the clip to remove it. I hadn't bought a new one from the dealer, so the job remains incomplete until I do so. Recommendations: place masking tape around the gas cap door and the surrounding car body, and buy the 46 cent (hypothetically) clip prior to trying the install. Our Hyundai gas cap has a tether that took 30 seconds to attach, with two fingers. So there, Honda! honest man ... show more

  • OEM cap
Genuine Honda part, fit great. It does not include the tether push clip, but I was able to reuse the old one after prying it apart

  • Works really well
I have a 2006 Honda Civic and started getting a "Check Fuel Cap" light constantly. I read some reviews and did some research about the problem and found on video about turning the rubber gasket on the fuel cap over (so the side which was against the cap is now against the fuel filler pipe). This worked for them, but didn't work for me. It was simple enough to try, so I did. I thought about purchasing a new gas cap, but thought it might be better to take it into the dealer to verify there weren't any problems with the evap system. I called the dealer to set up an appointment they told me it would be $150 to diagnose the problem and suggested I might want to try replacing the fuel cap. since the car was 12 years old, I figured the car was worth a new fuel cap. And if it didn't work, well, there was probably something more serious going on that it would be worth taking it to the dealer. To make a long story short, the new fuel cap solved the problem for me. It did take a day or two before the system re-calibrated, so just be aware that it may take a day or two for the message to go away. I would recommend that rather than trying to replace the fuel cap AND new restraining strap, to pry the old restraining strap off the old fuel cap (and likewise take the restraining strap off the new fuel cap), then simply put the existing (old) restraining strap on the new cap. I took the ring/restraining strap off the old fuel cap first (just in case I broke something, I would have the new cap and strap). I took this off by prying the ring with a couple small flat blade screwdrivers and worked it off the bottom of the fuel cap This was a bit more difficult than I thought it would be. And I found that trying to put the ring/strap on the new fuel cap in the reverse way was also difficult. I eventually put the ring/strap on the new fuel cap over the "TOP" of the new fuel cap and this was much easier. Your mileage may vary. ... show more

  • Did not fix fuel cap warning on 2011 CRV
The cap seems like a genuine part, but it did not fix the fuel cap warning on my 2011 Honda CRV. This is probably not any fault of the cap, but if you're getting an intermittent fuel cap warning you may want to look elsewhere for a permanent fix.

  • No More Light
Took care of the check engine light on my 2013 Honda CR-V. It’s a bit steep for some plastic and rubber but a lot cheaper than a trip to the mechanic. Quick install and OBD-II reset and viola! No more light.
