I love this dust buster. The only thing i hated is the head is so hard to get off when you need to setup for the next cut. I did a small mod splitting the front to give the bit space to pass.

Install the dust boot today, I am verry pleased with it, Install was easy, had to shorten the brushes, Only thing that would be nice is if the provided access to different lengths of the brushes, Overall verry pleased with it, I made three test cuts and little to no shavings or dust. Up date. Looked and they make a replacement for the lower part with brushes , I ordered it and its perfect, a bout a half inch shorter, Works perfect, Thanks. Now I am really a happy camper.

Just purchased the dust boot, first time using it, was working great for a while then the bristles got caught up in the bit. The dust boot was twisted and busted into pieces. UPDATE: Contacted SainSmart they immediately shipped a replacement. They also submitted the feedback to the product developers to request that they shorten the bristles to prevent issue on future products. They truly live up to their great support reputation! Trimmed the bristles down on the new one and its working great! The method i used was squeezing the bristles together and cut them short enough they could not easily reach the center where the bit spins.

I have not try it and it is already broken. It is to weak for what it was created for Update: Today I received an unexpected email from SainSmart were they are telling me that they were sorry about what happened and that all their products come with a one year warranty and that in my case they wanted to make a brand-new replacement…… what? I never ask for it!! They send it to me and as I told them, this service tells me that this is a company that cares about customers and I really appreciate that …. Once I receive the replacement we can talk about technical performance since related customer service you already have a100% satisfaction

The magnetic connections had me worried initially, I didn't think they would hold very well but the neodymium magnets they used are super strong and keep everything right in place.

As others have said in other reviews, there's some serious flaws with the design of this unit that means it very likely is not a good option for a lot of people. But if the limitations it has works for you, its an inexpensive and well made unit that ought to serve well. The limitation? Virtually all CNC dust shoes mount to the spindle holder, on the immobile part of it. This screws to the spindle itself. Why that is bad may not be immediately obvious, but it is a significant problem. The issue? Not every tool is the same length, and not every piece of material is being cut to the same depth. If you use shorter tools (critical for accuracy, what little you can get with a 3018), the brush will stick down far beyond the tip of the tool -- with some of mine, a full inch! A full inch is enough that, when the bit touches the material, the brush has enough flex to get caught in the bit. Bad things will happen at that point. Some people mention trimming it down -- that can help, but if you trim it down too far, you won't get any real suction on longer tools. So you have to pick your poison -- trim it for your long tools or your short tools and live with the issue you'll have with the other. And even if you do that -- if you are cutting deep, you have the *same problem*. A half inch pocket will push even trimmed bristles into the path of the tool, again! All of these problems stem from them not designing the tool to mount to the spindle holder. Normally you can adjust the position of a dust shoe so the bristles contact the upper surface of your material, and the spindle and tool move up and down within it. So, if you use a common set of tools in a common length, and you don't do any deep cutting and are mostly using your 3018 as an engraving machine, this may work for you. If all of those aren't true, it probably won't. Not without some work and a lot of compromise.

Unlike others I don't find the bristles too long so I won't cut them down. The 20deg bits the 3018 come with do have really short shanks but the upcut and downcut bits I have bought have longer shanks and the bristles are perfect. Even so this picture is me using the 20 deg bit and I don't have issues with it still, when I burn through these I will make sure to replace them with bits with longer shanks I also bought a harbor freight Bauer 3ga 3hp small shopvac just for this and they work perfect. With the shopvac the noise is much louder though but it's worth it as it does a great job sucking up all the wood fibers. I ended up throwing all of this in an unused closet to cut down the noise
