The Genie single button garage door opener remote use dual frequency technology operating on both 315 and 390 MHz to minimize interference and improve the garage door opener remote performance. The Genie 38501R single button remote, is a great replacement for older Genie intellicode remote models GIT-1, ACSCTG Type 1, or any Genie intellicode remote to work up to 1 garage door.

These remotes replace 2 older larger remotes, work well and are a good value. For us, the remote is so small it is harder to grab in the, for example a handbag (don't leave it in the car), or in a car compartment when driving or grasp to operate compared to the older version.

I was skeptical about buying this but decided to give it a shot for my GeniePro ScrewDrive garage motor. There is no program button on the outside of that unit so for a second I thought I bought the wrong remotes. But you have to open the front plastic bulb housing and there is a black button on the right side of the right bulb when facing the motor from behind. Press the button until the red LED starts to flash, release it and press the remote button 5-6 times until the garage door opens. That’s it. Works from a good distance but button is very sensitive and I would accidentally open garage door when it’s in my pocket. Last me a little less than 3 years then it stopped working. Tried new batteries and blowing out with some compressed air.

I had an old chunker remote from a Genie that is about 20 years old and wanted something smaller. I only have one garage so the one button made sense. The replacement unit is tiny but it what is was looking for. If you add the included clip, it slides on your car visor and is unobtrusive. It also seems to have a bit more range than the previous remote. Programming is a cinch and literally takes 30 minutes. You press the learn button on your overhead unit and you press the button on the remote until your door opens. You are done. As for cons, the button could feel a little more satisfying to press. It's decent but not great but at least better than the old remote. Also, for the size and being a single button remote, $35 (MSRP) seems a bit much for what you are getting. I think $20 makes more sense but I guess they have to make there money off a product that you are going to buy probably once. Still, it's a nice upgrade if you have the old style remotes and want something small to clip on your visor, keep in your car or even put it on your key ring. ... show more

I like how small and sleek this device is, it doesn’t take up much room. and if i need to take it with me i just stick it in my purse. And works really well. Easy to set up for the most part my garage door is really old so i had to kind of figure it out.
