Description

Generac’s GP6500 portable generator with COSENSE® Technology provides lots of power while protecting you and your home from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. If you inadvertently use the GP6500 indoors or in an enclosed space, COSENSE® WILL automatically shut off your unit when increased CO is detected. This unit also offers PowerRush™ Advanced Technology, which delivers more than a 40% increased starting capacity. Generac’s OHV engine and large-capacity steel fuel tank ensures long engine life and run times, while the steel tube cradle provides added strength. The low-oil feature protects the generator from damage. The GP6500 can be easily transported across rough or difficult terrain with the heavy-duty wheels and easy fold-down handle. The Throttle Governor Spring broke after 2.2 Hours of use. I have been attempting to get a replacement for over a month. Generac's part support infrastructure is lacking at best. My local dealer has tried to source the part from two different suppliers, still nothing. I have called Generac and have a running case of them trying to figure out how to get me a part, but still nothing 2 weeks later. In fact, there are no Illustrated Parts Breakdowns for this even available to my dealer. He had to call Generac and wait on his rep to figure out what the part number was. That took a week just for that! I specifically bought this because it was American made, and locally made in Wisconsin, even though it does not have a load meter or remote start. What a complete disappointment. Stay as far away from Generac as you can. Predator, Champion, Duromax, a hamster in a wheel, literally buy anything except this generator. ... show more

I like the build quality. I'm currently breaking in the generator, runs great. Made in USA definitely a plus. Value for the money spent is good compared to overseas models. The issue is that the axle for the wheel kit is missing from the wheel kit box. You'd expect better quality checking before shipping. Currently have been on hold w/ Generac support 25 min. I got a very nice girl to help me with this issue, so we'll see how good the support is. I'm getting the axle @ N/C under warranty. The drag is the 7-10 business days for shipping because Generac doesn't expedite shipping. UPDATE: Generac did UPS me an axle kinda quick, so kudos to them for that. Generator is running fine so far for 10hrs on brake in, only glitch was having to reset spark plug gap to proper .030 as it started to sputter a little. Spark plugs are gapped wrong from factory @ .018. I'm a auto tech so not a big deal. So far I would recommend this unit. It is well built, not bad on fuel so far & I'm picky. Also I like the fact it has AVR instead of capacitor regulation. Better for electronics. ... show more
