Started out not so good - shipping company called me the morning of the delivery and told me that the unit was too damaged to deliver. I did appreciate that being done before delivery and having to go through the order process again. Order was placed again and another shipping company delivered with no damage or issues. They even placed the pallet in my garage. Other shipping vendors wanted to charge a whole lot extra to place anywhere besides the street. Amazon did give me a $50 credit. Once installed, the unit has worked flawlessly and is a huge sigh of relief for this homeowner who lives on the Gulf Coast. Buy the unit separately and DIY an install or find Ana contractor who will give you an install only price. DO NOT BUY A GENERAC FROM AMAZON! We purchased a Generac generator from Amazon but didn’t install it right away. When we finally had it installed, the electrician discovered that the panel appeared used, with visible rust and burn marks. When we contacted Amazon, they refused responsibility and told us to use Generac’s warranty. Generac then sent us to one of their retailers, who claimed it was Amazon’s issue. Neither company will take accountability. We are stuck in an endless loop of finger-pointing, and now we’re forced to pay $700+ for a new panel just to make the generator functional. Amazon says it’s past their return window, and Generac won’t honor their warranty because Amazon sold us a used panel. This is completely unacceptable. We strongly advise against buying a Generac product from Amazon. ... show more

    • A Totally Self-Contained Standby Generator
Pattern Name: Generator Style: 18kW + 200-Amp Switch
I used my electrician to do the majority of the install and startup, and our plumber to do the gas line off the meter to the generator. That last part was pricier than I had planned, but doing this to code is essential. After a short tutorial the electricians shut off power to the house and in about 15 seconds the generator kicked in and restored power to our house. The delay prevents momentary power losses, which happen more frequently, from causing a momentary restoration. When we returned normal power to the house, the generator shut down in about 30 seconds. The Auto Transfer Switch blocked any power from the generator instantly. I'm impressed with this setup. I must master the Mobile Link app to get this setup on my phone. ... show more

I believe in Generac quality, I purchased a temp Generac for my daughter and à whole house gen for my wife and I. It came with a bent access panel. I tried to get a replacement panel but got the run around. Amazon offered to refund so I could buy another. I have electrician coming so didn't have time to wait and take a chance the second one will have a worse damage. The over-all unit is good and I straightened out the panel best I could and looks much better. Not perfect but better. I am looking forward to getting it connected. The fuel tanks (LP) will be here soon. Placing the pad base this week. I will keep you posted. ... show more
