  • Great Value for the Money
Style: 9,400 Watts
I'm in the process of phasing out a 10 year old portable gas generator with this Generac dual fuel version. My new Generac arrived nicely packaged. Assembly was fairly easy. Now I'm into the 30 hour engine break in phase. Today I did the Initial Engine Run with No Load. I like the fact that intuitive instructions are visible on the generator frame for Manual or Electric Starts. I'm breaking in the engine using gasoline and I followed the routine for Electric Starts. After adding the break in engine oil and gasoline, the engine fired up with one push of the button. [BTW-I really like the Fuel Gauge since my old generator doesn't have one.] It ran smooth and powerful for the entire one hour initial start up period. And it's quieter than my old generator. The controls for Selection of Fuel [Gas or Propane], the Choke, Fuel On/Off Switch are well marked and responsive. While it was running I tried the connections for the 120 Volt AC 20-Amp GFCI Duplex Receptacle and the 120/240 Volt AC, 30 Amp Locking Receptacle, with extension cords. No problems here. It was also easy to attach the LP regulator connecting hose to the valve on an empty 20 lb. LP cylinder, and also attach the opposite end of the hose to the generator. No problems here. When the Hour Meter registered "1" I shut the generator down. I will complete the remaining 29 hours of the engine break in period with variable limited loads in the coming days. After the break in period, I will replace the engine oil with a synthetic oil per the Owner's Manual. My impression to this point is that I got great value for the money invested. And when I switch out my old generator from the Manual Transfer Switch, in my house, I believe my Generac 9,400 Starting Watt Dual Fuel Portable Generator will power my home, when needed, for many years to come. [I will provide updates to this review in the coming days as I progress to the end of the break in period for my new generator.] ... show more

  • Efficient and Dependable Generator
Style: 10,000 Watts
Great value and easy to use This generator arrived well-packaged and was easy to set up right out of the box. It starts reliably and provides steady power for my basic needs. The noise level is reasonable for its size, and it feels solidly built. Overall, it does exactly what I expected and is a good value for the price. ... show more

  • Generac is unreliable
Style: 10,000 Watts
I have had this generator (10000/8500W) generator for about 4 months. Followed all the directions for setting it up, all of the directions getting it started and running including shutdown. Did a break in of the motor per the manual. First major storm of the season the generator would start up and run for a few minutes and would then shutdown. Tried it about 5 or 6 times and had the same thing happen. Checked to see if the carbon monoxide sensor was shutting down but it wasn’t. Tank was full of fuel, the right amount of oil. Checked to make sure I hadn’t done something wrong by reading the manual but everything should have been okay. Gave up and got out my 20 year old Onan generator that I wasn’t nearly as fastidious with and it started up and ran fine. Terrible waste of waste of money buying this Generac generator. When the Generac did run it would load up even when switching on a few lights, I couldn’t believe it. The Onan generator was roughly half the capacity and I never had any issues like that.. ... show more

The long runtime and quiet operation are incredibly beneficial, ensuring uninterrupted power supply without causing disturbances. Its 49-State Compliance gives added peace of mind. • A better piece of equipment
Style: 9,400 Watts
This is a much better piece of equipment than the ‘mass import’ companies offer. Smoother operation with negligible metal to metal noise. Much tighter operation. Just a better piece of equipment
