  • Great sound, easily adjustable, very portable
Context: I am a musician, mainly a percussionist, with a specialty in hand percussion instruments. This little cajon sounds great! I have another cajon from LP, which is full size, but I think this one sounds better. This cajon is about 2 inches deeper than my other, which gives it more bass than it would otherwise have. It's way more compact, at roughly 60% of the height of the tall one I have. The compact size makes it an awesome go-to for traveling for gigs. The bass is easy to hit, right in the middle and it's a pretty low tone given the size. The highs and mids are super close together. That's a bit of a double edged sword. It requires less movement to get to where you need to be, which is good for longer sessions, but it's also less forgiving if you don't hit just the right area. This is just a thing that you'll naturally get accustomed to the more you play it, so it's a good thing in the long run. The strings are adjustable (!!!) which is not a feature that every cajon offers. Making an adjustment is super easy -- each side has a peg at the bottom that you just twist to either tighten or loosen the strings for that particular side. This gives you a good variety of options when it comes to sound. You can make one size more of a poppy snare and the other more of a rugged snare. Overall, this is a great cajon for the price. Don't think that just because it's smaller it's any less worthy for gigs. ... show more

  • Amazing!
This is my first cajon. As a first time cajon user the build quality looks amazing. The wood looks sleek and the finish is flawless. It sounds great too. A really nice warm tone. What I like about this is it's size. Everyone in my family can use it including my 7 year old. It is a great beginner instrument to get your kids interested in music. My kids love tapping on the cajon to their favorite music. ... show more

  • Okay not great
Very lightweight, but not as functional as I had hoped. No matter where you hit on the box, it makes the same sounds. Would be great for a kid.

  • Modest size and sound
Smaller than I expected. Good sound from top to bottom and the quality feels consistent. Felt like it should be louder, but modest for practicing drumming and having core beats during a dance social.

  • Let's Make Some Music
A really fun musical instrument. We had this out in the corner of our living room. Our grandson saw it immediately! He sat on it easily and wasn't sure how to play it. I showed him how to tap on the different areas and what different sounds are produced. He was excited to try it out. The quality is great and the sound is really distinct to this type of instruments. Very pleased with this fun and unique instrument. ... show more

  • Little cajon, big sound
This is a petite cajon. It's visually attractive and appears to be well-made, no issues at all sitting on it to play as a full-grown adult. It has a good amount of volume, and responds differently depending on where you strike it (it comes with a one page sheet that gives you the basics). Adjusting the strings inside does indeed alter the tone, I found I liked it with them set a little looser. ... show more

  • Didn’t expect much… turned out awesome
I have never played a cajon before, but it actually sounded great! Super responsive depending on where you hit. I was surprised by the volume and tone. It looks great too. The wood is clean and it doesn't feel cheap at all. It's better than I expected for the price! Now I keep it next to the couch and jam while watching TV. It's great for beginners like me. ... show more
