Description

The GEARWRENCH combination wrenches are durable tools for most jobs. They are made from alloy steel with either a full polish or satin finish that resists rust & corrosion. The off-corner loading design on both ends provides a stronger grip on fasteners, reduces fastener rounding, and delivers up to 25% more torque to the fasteners. Sizes are stamped on the beam for quick, easy, & permanent identification. The box end is offset 15° for increased access to fasteners. Available in stubby & long pattern lengths and 6 & 12 point, the GEARWRENCH combination wrenches are a must have for every toolbox.

They're made in China, but are very durable. I've had the set for 2 1/2 years now and haven't had to warranty a single wrench. Although I (my shop foreman, actually 😅) did lose the 9/16. New techs just starting out this is a must have. I went looking specifically for the 6 point box end to avoid stripping bolts when I have to double wrench (which I do all the time), but range of motion in a tight space is very limited with fewer points of contact. It has been a worthwhile trade-off. The open end has generic grooves for better grip, but nothing special like Icon or Snap-on. I actually prefer these to those, because I found super tight tolerances to only really be helpful on rounded fasteners. And who uses the open end of a wrench, to try to take off a rounded fastener?? Invest in some Knipex Cobras, a large pipe wrench and Bolt extractors for that. ... show more

It's SO hard to find 6 point wrenches, but thankfully Gearwrench hooks us up. I've had several instances where only a 6 point will do- like on vintage cars where access is limited, things are tight and a 12 point is too risky when trying to break a bolt loose. This set saved me from having to pull the engine in my XKE because of one bolt! Many of my wrench sets are Gearwrench- I think I have four complete sets at least and never had an issue. I go with their brand because I know they'll be quality stuff and I've never been disappointed. I have wrenches from the tool truck brands which have absolutely nothing more to offer for their much higher price. Gearwrench is a brand I'll buy without hesitation any time, and having owned and run restoration and new car dealerships- I've been around cars and tools for many years. ... show more

My garage toolbox has only Made in USA wrenches, but I wanted a set of metric wrenches to keep in my aging vehicle. The GEARWRENCH 28 Piece Combination Wrench Set (| 6 Point | SAE & Metric | 81923) includes a nice selection of wrenches, are high quality, with a fit and finish that will work for you and last a long time. The weight and size are hefty, and seem durable, though they might not be preferred if you need to access a tight spot. You get a large number of wrenches for the price.
