i bought the two pack flex head 120xp with comfort grip. my 3/8" ratchet is nice - great fit and finish and really like how lowprofile it is. the 120 "teeth" feels awesome. i added in a little extra oil and its running super smooth. only issue with it is a design flaw where the ball detent is not in the right spot on the anvil so every socket has 1/8" gap my 1/4" ratchet was not as nice. there's definitely some quality control issues with it. the head of the ratchet leans down a little bit; it doesnt sit level with the rest of the handle. it wouldnt be so bad if the head was leaning back a little bit, but this one was leaning forward. flipping the head on the ratchet seems to improve it. reason for its uneveness is whoever drilled in the screw hole for the flex head didnt drill it centered to the shaft. that offset causes it to lean forward and have a little twist. another issue was the Gearwrench logo wasnt stamped centered. no big deal, but sloppy none the less. the ratchet was also pretty dry, but relubed and it is smooth again. lastly, same anvil ball detent issue - 1/8" gap with the socket. overall, after fixing the ratchets, i really like them! they look sleek and i dig the yellow and gold accents. the head profile is great. however the bad qc and socket gap has left me with a "meh" feeling about these ratchets and gearwrench as a company. im kinda concerned now about the ratchets durability. in the least the warranty is pretty good! i contacted GW about the issue and within 2 days they've shipped me a new 1/4 ratchet! hopefully new one qc is good! with the qc issues and socket gap, it be 3 stars. ease of warranty bumps it up to 4. update 11-05-2025: upgrading the 4 star review to 5 star review. been using these ratchets quite a bit and theyve held up really well. i was working on a subaru engine doing sparkplugs - if anyones worked on subaru engine sparkplugs, then they'll know clearances are stupid tight. these ratchets helped a magical ton and a half! i used both 1/4 and 3/8 ratchets for that work and it made the sparkplug change pretty drama free! these are definitely my gotos now, beating out my snapon and icon ratchets. ... show more

I love these. I have a 1/2" SnapOn but its too big for a lot of work under the vehicles. These work great, get in a lot of tight spaces, and were a lot less in cost than the SnapOn. Highly recommend.

These are very good ratchets very smooth action and the flex head has detents which kind of lock it into place. I bought another one from a local retailer that the flex head was extremely loose. These are definitely worth the money. Used them to change spark plugs and install a trailer hitch. The handle has pretty good ergonomics too. Just received these ratchets. Back drag is nice. Time will tell of longevity. Flex head is stiff enough to not just move on its own but not so tight it won't move when tou want it to.

This set of ratchets was one of the best purchases I've ever made! Gearwrench has just knocked it out of the park with their 120XP line of ratchets. These come packaged in a really nice foam carrying case, which makes me wish I had room in my toolbox for it. Maybe add some magnets to the back and stick it to the lid? The quarter inch is by far my favorite of the two, just based on how low profile it is. The heads on these are fairly tiny and low profile and the ratcheting mechanism is oh so buttery smooth. There's a negligible amount of back-drag and it just feels so satisfying to use. The locking mechanism is easily my favorite locking mechanism on any ratchet ever. It's just such a well thought out design. I have to say I prefer the locking version to these non-locking, but that's not really a knock on these as much as a ringing endorsement of the locking mechanism on the ones that have them. The flexhead is as good or better than any other non-locking flex head ratchet I've ever used, I just generally prefer locking flex heads and the 120XP style lock is amongst the best. The comfort grip on these feels fantastic. I took a picture comparing it to a couple of the other 120XP ratchets I have just so you can decide if this is the set for you. It really is a versatile lineup of ratchets, they have every type available. If I had to choose between the two quarter inch ratchets I would definitely choose the locking one, but if you want one that's a little bit longer the one in this set is great. My major gripe with 120XP as a whole is that there isn't really a mid length 8-9" long 3/8" 120xp ratchet. I really would prefer that to this extended reach 3/8 version in this set. This set is such an incredible bargain for a set of two ratchets that are as good as this is. They're worth double what I paid in my opinion! ... show more

That's a really clever way to stagger them! I like it 👍 The 3/8-inch size is used for high-torque applications, while the 1/4-inch size is longer and smaller than the commonly used 3/8-inch size!
