These were a lot better than I gave them credit for. Gearwrench is currently owned by the Danahar tool group with use to be a staple of American made tools. These are not of that legacy. But, bang for the buck, these are a high quality tool so far. My biggest complaint is the deep well socket fastener fitment slots do not run deep enough. 2nd, it can be difficult to read the sizes of the smaller sockets. Functionally, they are working very well and are used daily during the work week. They look good, feel good, and fit quality fasteners crisply in a way that is positive and confidence inspiring. Gearwrench has evolved as a brand that offers a lot of tool for a good value. Their sockets and wrenches are worth the money!

We all have that buddy that buys labels. He will proudly show off his $100,000 Snap-On tool collection that cost him 2 marriages. He's the same buddy that drinks vanilla-chai lattes with soy milk in the mornings while filming his oil-changing conquests on Tik-Tok; man-bun tucked neatly under the sticker-filled brim of his hat. When it's quitting time, he retires his latte in favor of Bud Light. He wouldn't be caught dead with any Gear Wrench tools in his tool box. Despite the fact that they offer the same lifetime warranty and function of the tools he bought off a truck that cost him easily 5 times the amount. They aren't Snap-On after all. They are yellow. For the family man who turns a wrench for a living or as a hobby, or simply needs a quality set of tools for fixing things around the house, you should seriously consider Gear Wrench. My tool box started with a bunch of hand-me-down items that I got from my dad, grandfather and uncles. Tools were always purchased when the need arose from brands like Craftsman or whatever was on sale. One day I discovered ratcheting wrenches from Gear wrench, and fell in love. Compact heads, smooth ratcheting function, and durable enough to survive a frustrated throw at a brick wall. I slowly started to gravitate towards the brand and have slowly expanded my tool box to include more and more items from Gear Wrench. In regards to this set, I have only compliments. You get a wife range of 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch drives. The sockets fit snugly on fasteners which help prevent rounding and fastener damage. They are polished to a mirror shine and look fantastic. Each piece is clearly labeled and made even easier to identify when stored on a socket rail. I have been incredibly happy with this set. Made of a high quality tool steel, i feel confident applying torque and leverage on them. Additionally, the selection in this kit will cover a broad range of tasks. I have had to warranty 2 tools from Gear Wrench previously. Both times the warranty prices was smooth and easy. I just sent them an email with a picture of the problem. Both circumstances a replacement was at my door step within 10 days. To summarize, you get a nice set of quality tools at less than 25% of the "Truck Price"... the warranty can't be beat, and every tool I've purchased manufactured from Gear Wrench has worked well and exceeded expectations. You can't go wrong with any of their products

Love the sockets, but pivotal ones are missing. I’m looking at you deep 3/8 on a 3/8 drive! Not all sockets are knurled, which is an attractive feature. Lots of random weird sockets such as deep 1/2 drive 1-1/2

This set has every 12 point socket that Gearwrench makes in standard and deepwell. its very complete, it skips a few sizes like nearly all sets do when they go big. this is the good set made in Taiwan not China. I was told both this set and the 163 pc 6pt set were discontinued. I just ordered the 163 pc set as well, not that its back in stock. your socket organizers will be missing the following sizes 1/4 drive 4.5 mm standard, 4.5mm deep, 5/8 standard, and 5/8 deep 1/2 drive 3/8 deep, 23mm deep, and 25mm deep. set includes 1/4 drive standard and deep 4mm-15mm includes 5.5mm (no 4.5mm) 3/8 drive deep 6mm-20mm, and 6mm-22mm standard 1/2 drive 8mm-30mm,32mm, and 36mm deep10mm-22mm, 24mm, 27mm, 30mm, and 32mm 1/4 drive standard 5/32"-9/16" deep 3/16"-9/16" 3/8 drive standard and deep1/4"-1" 1/2 drive standard 3/8"-1-1/2" deep 7/16"-1-1/8", 1-1/4", and 1-1/2". in my opinion they are at least as good as Craftsman, I think they are slightly better. This set is a great value. if you purchased all the 12pt sets and the individual sockets not in the sets, it would cost you more than double. the only thing I think Gearwrench could do better, is the engraving. not the easiest to read, and when on a socket strip, the size is not uniformly marked some are to the left or right of center. That's not a deal breaker for me, I put them on marked pegs so I can see the sizes easily. Don't hesitate these are discontinued sets at a great price.

I read about the missing sockets that others ran into with concern, but determined that for this price point (and Prime Shipping), it made sense to order and perform a full count. 163 Shiny Chrome GearWrench Sockets - no manufacturing defects noted. I actually happened to have ANOTHER partial set of shorts that had seen some USE - purchased locally, and they were identical matches for these units, besides not having been cleaned in forever. The oils these are shipped with aren't bad at all, came off easily. I just ran a price comparison to Harbor Freight/Pittsburg, and to compile a SIMILAR full set would leave you with 144 sockets, for a total pre-tax of $480 (no coupons applied). As I paid $309 with tax for these GearWrench units, and have a full 19 MORE sockets, I can't say how pleased I am. After searching for far too long, I ended up pairing these with Ernst Manufacturing Socket Boss holders. That setup allows you to mix and modify the count of socket and apply the number labels, as opposed to having an imprinted number for ONLY the other style racks total holders, etc.

I ordered a 176 piece 12 point kit. Got 163 6 point kit. And just like everyone else I am missing sockets Terrible quality control. Don't buy this if you are expecting what is listed in the description. You won't get it
