Description

The reversible ratcheting combination wrenches from GEARWRENCH are a staple for every tool box. The flush-mounted reversing lever allows the user to switch motion left to right without needing to remove the wrench from the fastener increasing productivity. The 15° offset on the ratcheting box end allows for greater knuckle clearance and safer access to the fasteners. The ratcheting box end is designed to need as little as 5° to move fasteners versus 30° for standard wrenches and features off-corner loading for a better grip on the fastener and reduces fastener rounding. The wrenches are made from strong alloy steel with a bright, full polish chrome finish. Gearwrench combines the speed of a ratchet with the access and control of a wrench with this 16-piece metric set of reversible combination ratcheting wrenches (model 9602). They offer the easy of 5 degrees of movement to turn fasteners, versus 30 degrees on standard combination wrenches. The reversing lever allows you to switch motion from left to right without removing the wrench, and the 15-degree offset allows for safe operation above the work surface for additional knuckle clearance.The small ratcheting box end head design enables access to tight spots where a ratchet won't fit. I love GearWrench ratchet combos! The offset business end seems almost impossible to find these days on ANY ratchet combos, and when you do find them, they’re priced at an arm and a leg for a SMALL set! People need to understand the difference between GearWrench and the ‘others’ out there - these have the socket wrench switch at the business end to switch from left to right AND the business end is at a angle, like a standard combo wrench - no dragging your knuckles and bleeding all over your project! Most other ratchet combos are ‘flip to reverse’, making these the ‘game changer’! Great wrenches for a great price. This is the set to get as it goes from 8-24 . These wrenches are legendary for their quality. I has a set for 25 years, and they got burned ina garage fire. I cleaned them up and oiled them and they still worked so I gave them to a kid in the neighborhood so he would stop asking me to borrow mine. ... show more

My local off-road shop has a set of these in Metric and Standard. They have been using these and only these wrenches as their primary set for the past 4 years. They have not failed once and have proved reliable and durable. The directional switch lever is invaluable and the slight bend to the ratcheting side seems to get into the most hard to reach areas. The price was the best deal out there. I saved about $70 over the average price I found elsewhere. The wrenches are well made, although the 16mm arrived with the chrome peeling off. Not a big deal to me since i'm not concerned too much with cosmetics, just function. As for function, they are very strong, have very little play in the ratcheting action, and fit on bolt heads very accurately. The ratcheting switch is easy to reverse with the flick of a finger. The only limitation I have found is the ratcheting box ends have fairly large heads and do not fit in some of the tighter spaces where they are needed (e.g. removing partially recessed brake caliper bolts). That being said, I simply use the open end when I have this problem, just takes a little more time/effort. They are also a little thick, which can limit their use in some tighter spaces as well. All in all, this is a great multipurpose set that is highly durable, well made, and an excellent buy. I was very satisfied with my purchase. ... show more

Great set, the ratcheting mechanism gave out on the 14mm and they honored the warranty. Sent a 90t version as the 72t is being discontinued. The 90t is a bit longer with a smaller box end, seems to be a better wrench overall. Prefer these over flex head in most situations, ratcheting end is small enough to use in most places. ... show more

I ordered this set to compliment another non-reversible ratcheting set that I have, plus this set comes with the 21 mm - 24 mm wrenches, please note: the 20 mm is skipped! The delivery was a day late and the package was intact. However, upon opening the package, since the wrenches were packed in a cardboard box w/ no padding, the thin plastic wrapper was torn due to rough handling attained during shipping causing the wrenches to break loose from the holder and just rattling inside the box. As the result, all the wrenches attained visible damage to the chrome finishing, with deep cuts and pits as though they have been used in the shop for a while. I include snapshots of some wrenches for illustration, where cuts and pits are visible through-out. The 12 mm's open end attained cuts, pits and a deep gash. The cuts and pits on the 19 mm and 21 mm. Regarding the quality, two of the wrenches were slightly bent. The offset angle was inconsistent on some of the wrenches as shown in the snapshot showing the angle of the 10 mm and 9 mm, where the angle on the 10 mm is a lot less. The ratching ends on the wrenches were smooth on some wrenches while tight on others, and the reverse levers on some wrenches were tight and hard to operate. I tried to loosen them with a dab of silicon grease, which helps to loosen them up. The wrench holder is sturdy, but lack the capability to keep the wrenches in place, so it is not suitable for hanging nor keeping in the drawer b/c the wrenches will come loose upon knocking into them accidentally while looking for tools in the drawer. 07/14/23 Update: Instead of returning, I have reached-out to GW Customer service for replacements about a week ago and received an auto acknowledge email with a case number. No other response from GW yet. 07/24/23 Update: I have not heard back from GW yet, however the ratcheting end of the 9 mm has locked-up while being used to loosen a small brake bleeding valve. It worked fine at first, then the ratcheting mechanism locked-up suddenly. I had to use a regular (non-ratcheting) wrench to continue with the job. 09/09/23 Update: GW has responded last week, and I have received the replacement for the defected wrenches described above. 08/17/2024 Update: I have been using these wrenches often, and they have been working for me in most situations where the space was not an issue. However, occasionally, where the space was tight, I have to revert to using my old ones, which are a lot thinner than these wrenches. ... show more
