  • Didn't know I needed this so badly
Style: 1/4" Drive
I saw a tool like this in a YouTube video where the host was using it with hex bits to install and uninstall small bolts on a 3D printer. It seemed like a great alternative to Allen keys or hex bits with a socket wrench, which can sometime be a little slow and cumbersome. I like Gearwrench stuff so I got this one. Now I'm using it constantly in any situation where bolts are not torqued down especially tight. You can't exert a whole lot of torque by hand with this tool, but it's enough to break free smaller bolts, or you can use a ratchet to break them free and then just switch the socket to this guy to spin them all the way off. This goes much, much faster than a socket wrench, especially in tight spaces where you don't have a very large angle to ratchet through. ... show more

Style: 1/4" Drive
Easy to use, good in tight spaces. Turned a 30 minute job in a tight space into 5 minutes.

  • Seems sturdy, larger than I thought it would be
Style: 1/4" Drive
The outer silver ring is 2" across, and 5'8" thick. The gimbal is solid, not floppy. Maybe it'll loosen up after some use. I like to keep the gimbal in my pocket with a 1/4" socket on it. It's much easier to carry in my jacket pocket than a regular ratchet for me out on the property. Pretty cool little tool. ... show more

  • very smooth ratchet
Style: 1/4" Drive
A key feature of any good ratchet is how smoothly and effortlessly the ratcheting action works. This one is very smooth, with little resistance to ratcheting, so I'm happy with it.

  • Legit tool innovation here!
Style: 1/4" Drive
A home run! Initial skepticism about the gyroscopic universal-type action was immediately removed after one use. After 30+ years of enduring "innovative" tool designs from the like of Sears and other gimmick-driven retailers, this is legit. I couldn't believe how tilting the wheel made such a difference! (Btw, I'm not a GearWrench fanboy- I got rid of a socket set from them because the ratchets auto-reversed so much they were worthless). This tool made me hate my regular thumb wheel ratchets. Yes, at a little under $20 each they're more than a $6 pack of all three drive common sizes at HF, but well worth it and who needs a 1/2" gimbal anyway? The direction selector is not a thumb style switch like most present day ratchets, but it's understandable- it would have stuck out too far for the slim profile to be maintained. The tool is machined very well- the chrome has a satin finish to it. The anodizing is great and the different colors lower the search time when you need it in a hurry. I would recommend this to homeowners and pro wrench's alike. ... show more

  • tool
Style: 1/4" Drive
cool tool its my favorite hand wrench for 1/4" sockets. Blue is the 1/4" red is the 3/8" (wish they made it in 1/2" too) I seriously doubt you could break by hand. Also both ratchets swivel with the socket on it. This has a extremely nice feel and smooth operation including switching directions. If a negative could be said it would be the sides should be knurled for maximum grip. This ratchet is not designed to be used with pliers but you could, then you should be using what we call "The right tool" a ratchet with a handle.. ... show more

  • Cool tool
Style: 1/4" Drive
Very well made. Like that it tilts to help with grip and torque. Also works in tight spaces.
