it had inconsistent cooling even when new out of the box. the compressor/thermostat seems to have a mind of its own in Cool or ECO mode most of the time, it does work at random when it wants to, I don't know if it's an electrical gremlin or a thermostat problem, I've owned several window units in the past and this one works sporadically at best, not keeping a constant temp it just makes noise and blows lukewarm air most of the time and the compressor seems like it doesn't want to run even when I put in COOL mode. I would return this unit if I could but it's outside of the return window I've only had this for a year as of this review before anyone asks yes I have cleaned and maintained this unit. I'd advise against buying this because this is a mid tier unit cost wise and it simply doesn't work as it should, you'd be better off buying something cheaper such as a unit with analog controls, at least they work. I'll be replacing this window unit for something quieter with a functioning thermostat soon. ... show more

I absolutely love it. I had a side to side opening window that slid sideways instead of up-and-down with this air conditioner. You need a window that ties up and down, so I just took the whole window frame out and put a board where the window would usually slide up and down and then I painted it to match the black air conditioner and I put a gun mount on it for my bug salt. I never give a five-star review because nothing is ever perfect but this is a nice little unit I love that you can set it on auto. It shuts off for me every evening I do not have to get up to do it I have never run my air conditioners in the evening. I am using it in a 12x16 built on with a door leading to a small enclosed patio it will cool both locations. The downside is is the air adjustments in the front of the AC only move sideways. Purchased this for tack-room/doggie condo to keep him cool on those hot days. Has been super efficient haven't noticed much rise in electric bill at all from use. I keep it set on thermostat setting and it keeps the room for my little guy perfect temp as well as keeps the humidity level down so the tack does not get too moist and mildew. All in all this was a super value for the money. It runs super quiet, I have not used the remote control but it would be very convenient for someone that would use that application I did notice it has pretty good distance reach for control. Honestly really horrible. I originally spent over $200 when I bought this 6 months ago, it is now freezing and not cooling anything down dispite regular cleaning and proper use. Apparently there is a coolant leak. Unfixable. Which is basically ridiculous because it shouldn’t have that type of problem unless it’s been a LONG time using the unit. I’m talking years. I purchased the GE 6,000 BTU window unit expecting a reliable solution for a small room (up to 250 sq ft as advertised), but this ended up being a frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. Installation was the first hurdle. Despite being marketed with an “easy install kit,” the setup process was anything but simple. The instructions lacked clarity, and getting the unit properly secured in the window took far more time and effort than it should have. For a compact AC unit, I expected a straightforward install—not something that required constant adjustments and second-guessing. Once it was finally up and running, the performance didn’t come close to expectations. For a unit rated to cool up to 250 sq ft, the airflow was surprisingly weak. It struggled to cool even a modest-sized room, and the air output felt minimal—more like a basic fan than a functional air conditioner. Even after letting it run for extended periods, the room never reached a comfortable temperature. That alone makes it hard to justify. The most concerning issue was the condition of the unit upon arrival. This was sold as new, but it clearly wasn’t. There were visible scratches and dents on the exterior, and even worse, there appeared to be water already inside the system. That strongly suggests it had been previously used or returned. Receiving something in that condition when paying full price is unacceptable and raises serious quality control concerns. Speaking of price, $225 is far too high for what this unit delivers. Between the poor cooling performance, difficult installation, and questionable “new” condition, the value just isn’t there. At this price point, I expected a dependable, ready-to-use AC unit—not something that feels used and underperforms from day one. Overall, this unit fails on multiple fronts: setup, performance, condition, and value.
