These are great for power outages so I purchased two sets of these. I do have a portable generator that handles a lot just not the lights where we usually sit. (I'm pretty tapped on the circuit so can't even add another thing). These bulbs just make so much sense - they charge as you use them. I haven't had an outage yet since purchasing these but if they are GE, they'll be fine. These lights are bright! And they aren’t that harsh blue/white color- it’s a nice soft white light. They screw right into the light fixture and work just like regular light bulbs. I plan on buying more to replace all the lights in my home. They have a flashlight function as well. You just take the light from the fixture and there is a switch on the side that changes the bulb from fixture setting to flashlight setting. A nice convenience for power outages. I'm giving these light bulbs 5 stars. I'll list the pros and cons so far. PROS: - These ACTUALLY work. Unlike the other (cheaper) rechargeable light bulbs I bought that did not hold a charge for more than 20 minutes...these actually do charge and stay on. They've been on an hour so far. They charged for a full 10 hours, so we will see how long they stay on. - GREAT option for wireless sconces. - Switch is a nice feature CONS: - These bulbs are pretty dim. Very nice if you're just looking for ambiance, but I probably would not recommend these to someone who actually need real light provided with power off. The photos show how dim they are. These emit more of a nightlight style level of lighting than an actual light bulb. Overall, these are great bulbs for wireless sconces! ... show more

These are fantastic when you have a power outage and need some light. I have a few of these, and they last several hours. I put them in lights that I use occasionally so that they can be charged up when the power is working. When the power goes out, I just turn on those lights and we have light! They are slightly less bright when using them in a power outage, but still sufficiently bright enough to do most anything like reading, games, or whatever you do in a power outage. ... show more

Some reviews complain they don't work with multiple bulbs or don't turn off in lamp mode. The key is they need to be on an outlet where the only thing is these bulbs. I have a switched outlet connected to a lamp with three of these bulbs. Turn it off, they turn off. Turn it on, they turn on. Power out, they stay on. If I plug a surge protector in and plug in anything else, even a wall timer with nothing connected to it, they will stay on as if the power is out when they are turned off. If the setup for the lights you want to power by battery aren't like this, these bulbs won't work right. It needs to be just these bulbs and nothing else. Otherwise, turning the switch off looks the same to them as the power being out. These work fine in a lamp that you can flip on and off with a switch on the lamp as that always looks "off" when turned off, regardless of how much stuff shares the plug. I bought the used - like new ones which looked like someone had returned them after trying them once. ... show more

I purchased these after seeing someone on social media talk about them, knowing they’d come in handy since I live in a hurricane region. I forget I have them all the time because they just remain in rooms and the lights go on and off like any other- no thought given. Until we had the storm in Houston this past week and lost power. My child walked into a room with a flashlight and asked why the lamp was still working with no power. And I remembered I had these bulbs in that lamp and another. They kept our rooms lit as we waited for power to return. They worked for about 12 hours before daylight and power restoration relieved them.
