So, this microwave hood combo is perfect. It works well. I purchased this product to replace an identical unit that was installed previously. It was a perfect fit without modification. That's why I bought it. Durability: Unknown. It's replacing a unit that is only 5 years old that had a handle break off and the top vanity plate break off as well. Whether or not this was caused by cheap parts or operator abuse is unknown. Also, that was a 5 year old product, not this product. These always come with cheap light bulbs that get ridiculously hot. Think about replacing those stove light bulbs with LEDs. They burn cooler and brighter, with better color. Would I buy another one of these? Time will tell. If this one breaks too quickly, I'll never buy another. But I won't know for years!!! :) ... show more

    • Prefect replacement!
Our twelve year old microwave stopped working and I really wanted a direct replacement since I didn’t want to do any remodeling to install. This is a perfect replacement for our previous GE over the range microwave. There are several things I like better about this one. The first is the built in light/nightlight. The lights on the bottom are nice and bright to light up the stovetop when you are cooking, and the nightlight is just perfect for a small amount of light in the kitchen for that nighttime trip to the kitchen. The display is bright and easy to see. The front is a smooth look with no vents showing. If you are using this as a recirculating fan it vents upward from the face of the microwave and includes a charcoal filter to remove odors. Ours is vented out the top to the outside and was an easy fit. The other option is vented to the rear of the microwave and that is just a small change to the fan position which is well documented in the instructions. The instructions were fantastic with cut out templates that make installation a breeze! The1000 watts make cooking fast and easy.     • It’s Sufficient. Decent Price
A little cheesy on the hinges, but it works fine. Easy to install. Well, not that easy, but if you can read and have tools, you’ll do all right.

    • Great but a little noisy
The only problem I have with this microwave is the noise. There's this vibrating sound that persists until the timer gets below 10 seconds. I've tightened the bolts down and felt around for anything loose outside of the unit that could cause the vibrating noise but I'm almost certain it's something inside. And it ALWAYS stops when the timer gets between 8 and 10 seconds. Weird. ... show more

    • Not the same as the old unit
Had to call a service tech for warranty service just before it was a year old. It had stopped working. The tech found that it just had a lose internal connection. at 16months the unit failed again after the repair tech 'fixed' it. I did the same thing as the repair tech and started it again. At 2 years this microwave seems to have failed permanently. The Magnetron won't engage nor will the turntable. This thing is a lemon. I bought this model to replace my old machine, same model. I thought it would be easy to install but none of the holes for mounting are in the same place. The controls are different too. So easy install did not happen. I'm still adjusting to the new controls after about 18 months use. I still haven't got the vent hooked up right. I don't know why GE uses the same model number on this unit when most everything is different than in the past. ... show more

    • Great microwave for the money.
This replaced a 31 year old Kenmore that I installed. The mounting bracket is much more lightweight than the old one I removed, so there was some adjusting to do. So far very happy with the appliance. Easy to use, and it’s pretty quiet. Just understand you definitely need two people.

We bought this microwave to replace one that was also a GE of the same size. The previous one was removed and re-mounted when we had our kitchen remodeled---it was over 10 years old at that time and worked just fine, with one repair, the entire time. But finally, the original one had a part that malfunctioned and we decided to replace it with another GE as close to it as possible, since he had to fit in the cabinetry exactly as the first one had. This one is the same dimensions as our older one but has a few more features and is even better than our original one!! ... show more
