This ac was bought for the purpose of cooling my room enough that I can be in there and sleep in there without it feeling suffocating and it did just that. My room and hallway are so much cooler now and it’s bearable. Granted it not freezing it still is so much better than it was. I’m currently in the midst of a heatwave and this air conditioner helped immensely. I currently have it set to cool on high and it’s working well. It is a bit noisy but it’s so much better than the ac I had. My old ac was a lot bigger and couldn’t be put upstairs it was also so much louder. But my old ac was a lot colder. Even though the old ac was colder it didn’t help much because upstairs would still be hot as heat rises. This ac was also a lot cheaper than the one I gave away and this one has a remote. It also is more appealing to look at compared to the old one. It works well but don’t go into it expecting extremely cold ac. It does get really cold but it takes time. It took about 30-45 minutes to properly cool my room which is fairly small. I am excited to test out the modes and see how well it does shutting off when the room reaches the proper temperature. I didn’t just buy the ac for me but for my animals too. I work a lot and I want to make sure they are okay. I will update my review in about a month and see how well it does going into the hottest months. The lowest the ac will go is 64 so do keep that in mind. ... show more

First 3-4 months after purchase this unit worked well. A bit noisy but good cool air. I took it out of window and stored it in a dry room in the back room of the house. I put it back in the window in the Spring and at 1st it started running well, but I noticed during the night it would stop cooling but the fan would keep running on automatic. Then It was very noisy! Now after approximately 6 or 7 total months of use it completely quit cooling ! Even though I purchased it over a year ago I only used it during the hot summer months. It is used only to cool one large bedroom.. Very disappointed in the unit and I will be replacing it now with Any other brand than GE. ... show more

Had it now for just under four months. Living on the second floor of a house about 500 sq ft, all of my windows are 17" or less. It has been extremely hard to find a higher BTU unit that was under 17". This unit squeezed in under 17" and was easy to plop on a drill-less Ac bracket for the window. I went from a portable AC unit that was pulling 16 amps to this little guy that barley gets to 5amps. We just got 114 degree heat index weather and it was able to keep my place at 75 in the room it was in and 76 in adjacent rooms while having the AC blasting at full set at 70. I knew it wouldn't keep me that cool on those days, as this is only for 200-300 sq ft, but on any day 90 or less this unit keeps my entire place under 73. It doesn't seem if it's on low or high, doesn't seem to dish out any more cooling power but just turns the fan up. I think this also reflects in the power usage as there is hardly any power increase usage when the fan is turned higher. Noise is pretty minimal not much more than a large fan. Prompts to clean out the filter often, pretty simple to clean and often just a little cat hair in it (don't forget to check the outside grates too). Only downfall I have is that the thermostat is a bit off. I'll have it set at 72 and the room thermostat will read 70 and the adjacent rooms are 71 when it's 80 out. Hard to beat for the price (just over $200), gave it 4 because it doesn't seem to provide more cooler at higher fan settings along with the thermostat issue, but otherwise does an amazing job and highly recommend it. ... show more

I love this ac. It makes noise but not bad at all! There are the standard options for low, med, high fan. Economy, fan alone, & cool. Temperature dial goes to 64. The remote is helpful for not getting up. I just put it in the window carefully, it'll be secured tonight finally by the super. In the meantime, I placed it well and secured and have been using it almost everyday. Once it's cool I turn it to 72 with the fan on 2, 1 if I want a more muted sound. This is normal for any ac, but if it's new for you to buy one, the price is right and it's the best little ac we've ever had. Thumbs up! ... show more
