This ac was bought for the purpose of cooling my room enough that I can be in there and sleep in there without it feeling suffocating and it did just that. My room and hallway are so much cooler now and it’s bearable. Granted it not freezing it still is so much better than it was. I’m currently in the midst of a heatwave and this air conditioner helped immensely. I currently have it set to cool on high and it’s working well. It is a bit noisy but it’s so much better than the ac I had. My old ac was a lot bigger and couldn’t be put upstairs it was also so much louder. But my old ac was a lot colder. Even though the old ac was colder it didn’t help much because upstairs would still be hot as heat rises. This ac was also a lot cheaper than the one I gave away and this one has a remote. It also is more appealing to look at compared to the old one. It works well but don’t go into it expecting extremely cold ac. It does get really cold but it takes time. It took about 30-45 minutes to properly cool my room which is fairly small. I am excited to test out the modes and see how well it does shutting off when the room reaches the proper temperature. I didn’t just buy the ac for me but for my animals too. I work a lot and I want to make sure they are okay. I will update my review in about a month and see how well it does going into the hottest months. The lowest the ac will go is 64 so do keep that in mind.

First 3-4 months after purchase this unit worked well. A bit noisy but good cool air. I took it out of window and stored it in a dry room in the back room of the house. I put it back in the window in the Spring and at 1st it started running well, but I noticed during the night it would stop cooling but the fan would keep running on automatic. Then It was very noisy! Now after approximately 6 or 7 total months of use it completely quit cooling ! Even though I purchased it over a year ago I only used it during the hot summer months. It is used only to cool one large bedroom.. Very disappointed in the unit and I will be replacing it now with Any other brand than GE.

This is a bare-bones small window-mount air conditioner unit. Not fancy, but it works reasonably well. At 6000 BTU, it is rated for rooms around 200 to 250 ft.². I have mine in an 11 x 18‘ room (200 ft.²), and it will cool that room to a comfortable temperature within about an hour, and keep it there. Operation is very simple: you can use the remote or front panel buttons to set a target temperature (which is not entirely accurate because the room tends to be cooler right near the AC, but you can adjust the temp up or down until the room finally stabilizes at a point you’re comfortable with, regardless of the number on the display). It will remember the temp setting after you turn it off, and retain that setting the next time you turn it on. There is a “Delay“ button which allows you to input a number of hours (push “Delay,” then use the “+” and “-“ buttons to set the number of hours on the display). If the unit is off when you set the delay, it will stay off for that length of time and then turn on automatically, so you can have it go on, say, one or two hours before you expect to come home from work, and get the room cool before you get back; if the unit is on, setting the delay will turn it off after the set number of hours, so you can leave it running to keep the room cool for that length of time and then turn itself off (useful in a bedroom at night). It has settings to adjust the fan speed, to set it for fan only (no cooling), and “Eco” (energy saving). The remote is simple and kind of chintzy feeling, but controls all the functions. All these basic functions do just what you expect. The unit has louvers to direct the air output left or right, but not up or down. They don’t work very well; the air just mostly blows straight out. My major issue is with the window mount system. Like most similar units, this is designed to fit in the bottom half of a double-hung window, with the sliding window frame pulled down on top of it to hold it in place. It is very important that it be mounted correctly and securely, so it doesn’t fall out of the window. The problem is that the mounting instructions seem to assume a particular kind of window frame design, but there are many different kinds of double-hung windows with different architecture. There is a top bar that you attach to the top of the AC case with some supplied screws. After you balance the unit on the bottom edge of the window frame, you pull the sliding window section down on top of it so that the top bar is inside the lower edge of the sliding window frame. You then have to securely fix that frame so it never opens again; if anybody raises that window frame, or it just gets loose somehow, there will be nothing holding the AC in place and it will fall straight out. They supply a couple of flimsy metal brackets that you are expected to screw into the fixed window frame above the top edge of the sliding portion, to block it from sliding up after you have mounted the AC. This assumes that there is a flat surface that you can easily drill into along the edge of the window frame. Not all window frames are like that. There is also a flimsy metal clip supposed to be mounted to a screw at the bottom of the AC case, and screwed down into the bottom of the window frame for a little bit of extra security. That assumes that your window frame is designed so that there is a flat surface right below the case of the AC when you balance it on the bottom edge of the open frame; again, not all windows are like that. In my case, I couldn’t mount any of those little clips the way they were intended, and there is no other way to mount the unit with the supplied hardware. I finally drilled right through the top bar, in front of the sliding window frame where it comes down to hold the AC in place, and drove a sheet metal screw through the bar and into the window frame, locking the two securely together; then I cut two wooden dowels to exact length and fixed them in place between the top of the sliding window section and the very top of the fixed frame so they prevent the sliding section from being pushed up. Now the sliding window is blocked from going above the top bar on the AC, and it is screwed into the top bar where it touches it down below, so nothing is going to shift, but I had to do all that myself. The mounting hardware supplied with the unit is very light, and doesn’t match my window architecture at all. Be prepared to figure out a solution for yourself if necessary. All in all, this is a typical small window AC unit that does what it is expected to do. It is not fancy, and you may have to adjust or replace the mounting hardware to get it to fit in your window, but once it’s installed it works OK. IMPORTANT: Mounting an AC unit like this solely on the edge of the window frame is possible but not the best solution. It is safer and more secure to mount a bracket sticking out from the window frame to provide a solid surface for the AC unit to rest on and support the weight, then secure the window frame as described above to keep the unit from moving, but without putting the full weight of the unit on the window frame. There are many AC mounting brackets designed specifically for this purpose. My ridiculous window architecture did not allow the use of such a bracket, so I had to just lock the window frame down on it and hope for the best. I would strongly recommend adding a mounting bracket if you can fit one on your window.

I love this ac. It makes noise but not bad at all! There are the standard options for low, med, high fan. Economy, fan alone, & cool. Temperature dial goes to 64. The remote is helpful for not getting up. I just put it in the window carefully, it'll be secured tonight finally by the super. In the meantime, I placed it well and secured and have been using it almost everyday. Once it's cool I turn it to 72 with the fan on 2, 1 if I want a more muted sound. This is normal for any ac, but if it's new for you to buy one, the price is right and it's the best little ac we've ever had. Thumbs up!

Updated (see original review below): not only did they give me a used AC, the AC doesn't work well. After 1-2 months of usage it cranks very loud, blows out some moist air, and stops working in the middle of the night, and I wake up sweating. I have to turn it on and off for it to work again, which is annoying. ALSO, it spits orange liquid out of the side and ruined my window and parts of that side of the house. And it’s only been 1-2 months that I used it; compared to AC’s I owned for 1-2years that have not done this. Contacted Amazon and GE and only been getting run arounds, and now it’s been getting later and later and way past the return window, which I have already passed when I found out what a scam this AC is… I’m not sure how this AC has so many good reviews, was I just the unlucky one in the batch? How unlucky of me… or it’s just bad, cause I saw someone else with these same problems. Original Review: The AC looks pretty modern and is small like how I wanted, so it fits perfectly in my room. That I like. I just installed it, and it runs alright so far (only turned it on for 30mins). So, we will see how it goes. However, I am super DISAPPOINTED as I bought it new and I got a USED one!!! So upsetting, because if they were going to give me a used one, they should say it and charge me less for it and not the full price of a new one. I had scheduled someone to help me install it the day after it arrived, so I cannot even return it/exchange it, because then I would have to cancel the installation and reschedule. Plus, the AC itself might not be bad, so we will have to see. But I still am upset because of the principle of it all; how can they give me a used one?! I uploaded some pictures here to show the blemishes on the sides and front, and dirt and scratches on the bottom. It is very minor details and some can be washed off, but it shows that it was used. Or else it wouldn’t have those marks. I had to spend so much time wiping it down and sanitizing it, because we’re still in the midst of a COVID-19. If I didn’t mind a used one, I would have clicked the option for “used” and gotten a cheaper one!!!

I don't have a normal window, mines a sliding style, not the up n down type. So that was a challenge in itself in finding the right air conditioner. I definitely didn't want one that was big & bulky. I spent hours reading other people's reviews on various AC's when I finally just went for this one because not only was it inexpensive but it had decent reviews. It's not super big either so my window isn't left hella open. I did get the padding stuff to reflect the light off my window and block out any gaps. My apt is 900ft so the bedroom isn't super big and even on low, eco setting, this bad girl really gets the job done. I would prefer to be able to move the vents up n down rather than turning side to side though. All ACs have loud noises even on eco, you'll never escape it so if you hate the sound, then suffer in heat bro. I don't mind the noise, I have fans on in the winter, so, if yah know, yah know. Anyway, this is a good buy. I'd love to get another one, but I'm broke ATM lol. And yes my picture uploaded in poor quality and yes, that's a lot of nerdy stuff around it.

This unit cools a much larger area in our home then it said it would, which is amazing! We also have vaulted ceilings and keeps the kitchen, dinning, and living room nice a cool! It is a little loud when it is running, but you do get used to it and becomes background noise. The remote has worked great and makes it even more convenient. The unfortunate thing was that we are on our third unit as the previous units all came damaged. The third unit that we kept came damaged too, but we settled with keeping it and getting some money back. The unit overall works great, but the three units we received were all damaged.

I bought this used on Amazon Marketplace. It was missing screws but luckily a neighbor had extra for me. Also, some of the “fins” on the back was bent. Otherwise, it works great. I have a decent sized room and it keeps it cool. I have central AC but my room is the hottest in the house. I also use it for the sound and it’s pretty quiet compared to the old one I just took out. It came looking mostly new and it is clean looking and easy to use. It doesn’t have a smell and it allows me to sleep comfortably.
