    • Great dehydrator, but instructions are lacking info and generic.
Unpacked this to find heavy duty tape holding all the stacks together. The tape was very sticky and would not come off of the stainless steel, so It's all smudged on the sides of the unit. There are two sets of instructions, one is more of a recipe book but did provide a little info about the unit. There was no info about this being able to be put in the dishwasher, or about the extra pieces that I'm not positive how there supposed to be used. There are what I think are silicone meshed sheets, I assume could be put on each layer to help stuff not stick but I'm a little afraid to use without knowing what they are. There's also 2 trays with no holes that aren't mentioned. I'm guessing those are for making fruit leather with puree. Haven't used those yet. I have made several fruits so far, apples, plums, pears and mango. All of these came out great but I did have to add a couple extra hours from what the recipe called for. The trays do have a kind of nice feature, in one orientation they stack a bit more down inside each other, but if you turn them 180 degrees, they raise to make clearance for food. There is a sticker on top of the device to tell you this. Controls are simple enough, just a menu button to switch between time and temp and a +/- to raise and lower. I like the unit, I wish they'd not stuck the heavy tape to the stainless steel and I probably wouldn't bother with the instructions. Just check your food every few hours. When a cycle finishes, this thing beeps a bunch which was pretty annoying in the early morning, it made me think I had to get up to check on. It does stop eventually though. It's worked well so far and I'm mostly happy with, but there could be improvements made. ... show more

I've never used a dehydrator before, and this little machine is a fantastic introduction. With the included instructions, recipe book, and a little Google browsing I had a couple of days of trying it out before this review. You can stack up to 5 of the included trays, it has some finer mesh inserts if you need them, and two fruit sheet trays. I only used one tray at a time for these first batches. They were a learning experience and will benefit me on a second round of dehydration with multiple trays. The bacon was especially a treat to me, I like it chewy and still "fat", even though it does need to be stored in the refrigerator with the recipe I followed. The oranges were a surprise that they kept their shape, but were so light and hollow! The mushrooms and blueberries turned out just like those I have purchased. You can set a wide range of temperatures and time, it is almost whisper quiet and takes up little space. This is definitely a worthwhile purchase if you want to get experience before scaling to a larger size or just like a smaller size. ... show more

    • Great little dehydrator
This dehydrator was delivered quickly and arrived well packaged. The plastic trays seem a bit thin, but all were intact upon delivery. The seller offers to replace any damaged trays within the warranty period (up to 2 years), which is a nice benefit. I have never used a dehydrator before, so I really have nothing to compare this unit to, but I was very satisfied with the dried apples and strawberries I've already made with this. The unit controls are simple to figure out and easy to adjust. The drying was even - I did make sure to rotate the trays every couple of hours (over a 6 hour period) as suggested in the instructions to make sure the dehydrating was even. A nice cookbook with many recipes (and pictures) was included in the box. I appreciated this as I needed some ideas on what else to dehydrate. I'm looking forward to making some beef jerky next! ... show more

This is a compact device that has somewhat shallow trays. It has great controls so you can decide how fast things dry. Great for a kitchen due to small footprint.
