From the Precisionist Collection. Featuring Bulova’s proprietary Precisionist quartz accuracy, in stainless steel with multiple-layer swirl-pattern charcoal grey dial, silver continuously sweeping second hand, luminous hour and minute hands, faceted stick markers with luminous squares, calendar, black leather strap and water resistance to 30 meters.Precisionist TechnologyAt the heart of the watch is the Bulova Precisionist-class torsional resonator movement, custom-engineered to provide accuracy to within seconds a year using a three-prong quartz crystal that creates a vibration frequency of 262.144 kHz, the highest of any watch in the world and far greater than that of a standard quartz crystal. In laboratory testing, the Precisionist-class movement has been shown to be three times more accurate than standard quartz. This proprietary manufactured movement, including the signature floating second hand, also offers a resistance to gravitational error that makes it superior in performance to any mechanical watch on the market.Summary of FeaturesOne of the world’s most accurate movements – accurate to within seconds a yearPrecisionist-class torsional resonator movement proven in laboratory testing to be three times more accurate than standard quartzStainless steel caseMineral crystalMultiple- layer charcoal grey dialSilver continuously sweeping second handLuminous hour and minute handsCalendar windowBlack leather strapWater resistant to 30 metersAbout BulovaIn 1875, Joseph Bulova, a 23-year-old immigrant, set up shop in New York City and a legendary American watch brand was born. Since then, Bulova has stood proudly in the vanguard of timekeeping innovation, committed to the legacy of creativity and excellence established by its founder.A pioneering force in the industry, Bulova transformed how watches were worn and how time was perceived, registering over 50 patents as he and his company built a record of creativity including the first full lines of men’s (1919) and ladies’ (1924) wristwatches, the first clock/radio (1928) and the first electric clock (1931). To ensure the utmost in precision, in 1920, Bulova even established its own observatory – located atop its New York skyscraper. With that same spirit of innovation, following World War II, determined “to serve those who served us,” Bulova established The Bulova School of Watchmaking, using new and unique methods to train disabled veterans for positions in the watch and jewelry industry. Then, in 1960, Bulova changed timekeeping forever with the revolutionary Accutron, the world’s first fully electronic watch. An integral component of U.S. space technology, Accutron timing was used on 46 NASA missions, including Apollo XI, the first lunar landing (1969).Today, as one of the world’s most recognized brands, Bulova has expanded across the globe, with four separate watch brands, Bulova, Bulova AccuSwiss, Bulova Accutron II and Caravelle New York, as well as the award-winning Bulova Clocks. The signature Bulova brand provides an extensive selection of watches for every occasion, crafted of the finest materials, including 315L surgical grade stainless steel, diamonds, mother-of-pearl, carbon fiber, top-quality leather and Bulova’s proprietary Duramic nylon/ceramic composite, and powered by Precisionist-class quartz, automatic and quartz movements. An industry leader in diamond watch styling, with the new Diamond Gallery offering exquisite designs in stainless steel with sapphire crystals, Bulova is also known for Precisionist, featuring Bulova’s proprietary Precisionist-class quartz torsional resonator movement for accuracy to within seconds per year, the Marine Star collection, combining high-performance sports timekeeping with superior durability and water resistance to a minimum of 100 meters, and a comprehensive selection of classic styles, each with a three-year limited warranty.

  • An affordable, beautiful dress watch with a smooth-sweeping second hand
Let me be clear: pictures do not do this watch justice. It really is a stunning timepiece that stands out among a sea of dress watches which are either extremely conservative and dull or garish and tacky. In photographs, the stainless steel case of the watch appears dull and uninspired. In person, this watch's combination of polished and brushed stainless steel is very attractive and shines brightly. In the stock photos on Amazon, the wave detail on the face of the watch appears very boring. In person, one can truly see the level of detail that that went into the design of the dial - not only the actual lines and their contours, but the exquisite gray color which adds a lot of classy pizzazz to an otherwise conservative watch face. It's a very subtle addition to the design of the watch, but it pulls the look of the timepiece together perfectly. The hour markers are chrome accented which creates a nice contrast with the steely dial. I also think that pictures make the watch seem a lot more squat or round than it really is. To make a long story short, you have to see this watch in person to really appreciate how nice-looking it is. The hands and the hour markers have lume on them. The lume is actually pretty bright but doesn't last long at all. I never expect dress watches to have decent lume, so I wasn't bothered by this shortcoming. The size is a tad larger than what I prefer in a dress watch, but it's much more elegant and reasonably sized than other affordable watches and Bulova Precisionists. Due to the high-frequency quartz movement, the second hand sweeps as smooth as butter, and more smoothly than any ETA movement I've seen. . I love automatic watches and rarely buy quartz, but this watch seemed to give me the best of both worlds: the ease and accuracy of quartz with the sweeping second hand of an automatic. Bulova claims this movement to be accurate to 10 seconds a year, and after several weeks of wearing this watch, I've not noticed any loss or gain of time. Bottom line: this is a really great watch. It doesn't have a sapphire crystal or a Swiss automatic movement, but it does have an exquisite appearance, an accurate movement, and a sweeping second hand. At this price, it can't be beat. ... show more

  • Excellent watch. Looks great, and the quality is obvious
I like watches. I particularly like Bolova watches. I have two others. A rugged sports chrono, and a Frank Lloyd Wright special edition. I also have a super thin Rotary. I have always wanted a Precisionist. But these were usually a bit out of my price range. Amazon had a special sale price, and I grabbed it. I am so glad that I did. The quality is obvious, and the sweep second hand is mesmerizing. The size is perfect. It is not the huge diameter that seems to be the fad right now. It is has a classic look. It is simple, yet elegant. I have always thought that the other much more expensive brand that features the sweep second hand, was ostentatious. That is the watch that I have seen every car salesman wear. I find them to be boorish. Even if they were in my price range, I probably wouldn't own one. I like the understated look of this watch. It looks expensive. Classic, but not gaudy. I switch out my watches, depending on the occasion. But this will probably be my daily wear. ... show more

  • Beautiful and unbelievably accurate
This watch is probably the simplest design of the Bulova Precisionist line. It is elegant with an extremely interesting face and the famous smoothly moving second hand. I bought it to use as a dress watch. It is appropriate for office wear, a dinner date or possibly even with a tuxedo. Others have correctly pointed out that the leather band supplied is awful. I replaced it with an inexpensive but infinitely better black leather band. The watch also looks great with a stainless mesh bracelet. The watch’s accuracy is, so far, astonishing. Using the Watch Tracker app, I compared the time shown on the watch to the Atomic Clock numerous times over a two month period. During the first month the watch was kept indoors at around 72F for 95% of the time. It was worn only occasionally. During the second month the watch was worn approximately 12 hours a day. The app measured a total difference of -0.2 seconds over 60 days, a rate of loss of only 0.004 seconds per day! The app's potential measurement error is estimated to be +/- 0.25 seconds (per measurement). So, based on the measured difference of -0.2 seconds over two months, the range of possible total offset is -0.7 seconds to +0.3 seconds over two months, which projects as a worst case gain or loss of between -4.2 seconds and +1.8 seconds per year. After a reset for DST, the accuracy for the third month remained remarkable, measured at a rate of -1.1 seconds per year. We'll see if this amazing level of accuracy continues for this watch. If so, the expected annual gain or loss will be consistent with Bulova's circa 2010 marketing claim, now abandoned, that the watch is accurate to 10 seconds per year. UPDATE- After seven months (with two resets) the watch has lost a combined total of 0.7 seconds, or a tenth of a second per month, and continues on the same projected annual loss of about one second per year. Incredible. I paid $258, at which price this watch is a good value. ... show more

  • Wonderful watch, arrived safely. No documentation
The watch itself is beautiful, and the sweep is indeed mesmerizing, I would say it gives spring drive a run for its money in the smoothness category, at a much lower price point. The only thing that was a bit strange is that the watch arrived with 0 documentation which seemed odd. Otherwise it’s a beautiful watch that I look forward to having for a long time. ... show more

  • Beautiful dial and incredibly smooth sweep
The media could not be loaded. What a joy to watch the seconds hand sweep around the face of this watch. The quartz precisionist movement rivals the Grand Seiko for smoothness all while delivering amazing accuracy. Because this is a quartz movement, it is very lightweight and thin. It sits on the wrist comfortably and despite its size, is easy to forget it's even there. Pull the trigger on this watch. You won't regret it. ... show more
