  • Well worth the money
Style: Hard Tri-Fold w/ Cargo Retriever Size: 5' 1" Bed
Gator covers are one of the best bang for the buck. Install was a breeze (two people make it simpler but can be done by one). Yes it leaks a little but they all do. Sturdy construction, well builg.

  • After the install, a great accessory for my truck
Style: Hard Tri-Fold w/ Cargo Retriever Size: 5' 1" Bed
Th diagrams on the instructions were inadequate. Ex: Box 1 of instructions loosely shows where the bolt goes. It makes it look like it goes in the oblong whole, giving the impression to maneuver up or down depending on where the cover fits. The dotted line goes into the oblong whole. You don't see till a few blocks later that that nope, it goes in the round whole next to the oblong whole, which makes more sense. The railings were not labelled. It would have been nice if they had placed a "D" sticker for driver side rails and a "P" sticker for the passenger side rails. They tell you to cut the tape on the box containing the rail with the detachable dip spout. Well, the box was open ended and the railings slipped half way out. So, I let the slip the rest of the way but the drip spouts stayed in the box. Box should have been closed on both ends. I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out which rail went where and how they were supposed to face. So between the inadequate instructions, the inadequate diagram and un-labelled parts, it took me way more than all the Youtube videos showing how it took them only 30 minutes. They've obviously had prior experience and the correct tools. It seems they wrote the instructions and drew the diagrams for people who've done this before when they should be writing and drawing to someone who has never installed a truck bed cover. I'm pretty good at putting things together but I had a hard time with this one. Not only that, the rubber gasket on one of the upper rails slipped out of place in transit and when I tapped it back in after it was on the truck, the last half inch popped out of place so the cover is slightly raised on that side. I will troubleshoot another day. I was looking forward to having a bed cover. I chose this one because it was highly rated on more than one article. I still look forward to using it. I just am disappointed that installing it proved difficult. I suggest instead of loosely drawn diagrams, they use real pictures. I also suggest they put a sticker on each rail indicating whether it is for the driver side or passenger side. So, if you know how to install these, I recommend it. If not, maybe consider paying someone that does. I should have. ... show more

Great product. Easy to install and looks great on our 2021 Toyota Tacoma

  • No complaints.
Style: Hard Tri-Fold w/ Cargo Retriever Size: 5' 1" Bed
This was easy to install due to it being assembled already and the instructions were easy to understand. I easily did it alone. It looks great as other reviewer picture have shown. I had to drill bigger holes into my 2017 Tacoma truck bed for water draining. You will need a good size drill bit, and be careful because there are wires beneath some parts of the bed. I took it to the car wash later that day and no leaks. It locks well with the gate. ... show more

  • LOTS OF SURPRISES! (read to the end)
Style: Hard Tri-Fold w/ Cargo Retriever Size: 5' 1" Bed
The product page states the following: "No Tool Install - Installation is quick and easy. Simply clamp the cover onto the bed rails and you are done in about 30 minutes!" This is GROSSLY false advertising and someone should contact the Consumer Protection Bureau of the FTC to investigate this company for false advertising and also contact Amazon and demand this company be suspended for false advertising. These products cost a lot of money, and misleading consumers in this way is absolutely unacceptable. Despite the claim of no tool installation, the opening page of the instruction manual tells you that you will need a socket wrench with a 1/2" socket, which you will need during steps 3 and 4 to tighten six bolts that secure the mounting rails to the bed rails. Then the first step of the instruction manual tells you that you will need a T30 torx wrench to remove and reinstall five torx head bolts from the bulkhead cap on the truck bed. And then the last step of the instruction manual requires you to use a drill with 5/8" bit to drill two holes through the bed of the truck for drain tubes to pass through. Oh yeah, they didn't tell you that you will need to drill a couple very large and permanent holes through the bed of your truck... probably should have mentioned that upfront. But nonetheless, despite claiming quick no tool installation, and despite the poorly written instructions that only tell you that you will need a socket wrench in the REQUIRED TOOLS section, the steps of the instruction manual will tell you to use, and you truly will need, (1) a socket wrench with 1/2" socket, (2) a T30 torx wrench, and (3) a drill with 5/8" bit, in order to properly install this product. Again, unacceptably false advertising and companies like this need to be held accountable. The product manual is also very poorly written and terribly illustrated. For example, the illustration in Step 5 (see photo for reference) allegedly depicts the correct and incorrect ways to set the tonneau cover on top the mounting rails. There are a couple problems with thus illustration: (1) the "correct" way is actually incorrect in the illustration, as it shows the cover laying on the rails upside down with the cover panels folding over from underneath instead of from above, and (2) the "incorrect" illustration not only tries to show a common mistake, but it flips the entire background and orientation of the truck compared to the "correct" image, which makes it very challenging for users to track the differences between these two images so they can understand the "correct" versus "incorrect" installation methods. Combined, the incorrect depiction of the "correct" way, plus the disorienting depiction of the "incorrect" way, makes it challenging for new tonneau cover owners to understand what the proper way to orient and align the tonneau cover during this step of the installation process. There were also several types of damage to the product. The ends of the rails were smashes and the plastic covers were broken. I'm not sure if this damage occurred at the manufacturing plant when someone dropped one of these rails end-first onto the ground, or if it was caused during shipping due to the minimal packaging and protection around these rails. Either way, received a damages product. But in addition to that, about five or six inches of weather stripping were also defectively glued into the wrong position on one of the rails. I had to pry it loose from where it was glued on and then re-adhere it in the correct place so it would properly seal and protect my truck bed. Overall, if you want a product that comes with lots of surprises, then this is the truck bed cover for you. It comes with a surprise need for tools, surprise damage to the parts, surprise manufacturing defects, surprise realizations that the instructions are showing you the wrong way to do things, and best of all, surprise discoveries that you need to drill large and permanent holes in your truck bed for proper installation of the drainage tubes. Personally, I don't like surprises... I like predictability, knowing what I'm buying, knowing it will arrive undamaged and properly manufactured, knowing what holes or changes I will need to permanently make to my truck, and that the instructions will clearly and easily guide me along the proper steps. And so I regret buying this product because I don't like all of those surprises. But if you or a friend or family member like surprises and needs a tonneau cover, then look no further... this is the tonneau cover for you. ... show more

  • The best Tonneau cover I have ever had.
Style: Hard Tri-Fold w/ Cargo Retriever Size: 5' 1" Bed
This will be the 4th cover that I have had experience with. I have had a roll up soft cover that was my first and it was okay for what it was. Weight of snow and lack of security caused me to change to a hard folding cover. This is the best folding cover I have ever used. The one on my last truck cost me $950 and was also a GATOR brand cover that I really liked but was designed to stay mounted to the truck. This GATOR EFX cover has 3 folds like the last one, but can easily be removed by turning 4 knobs, if the entire bed is needed. Also the latching system with the cord pull is much better than some other brands where you have to take a lever and unscrew it. I highly recommend this one over some brands and models that cost 50% more. ... show more
